Dahlia, I know more than anyone how much work you put into this, please know that I and most others love the hug and are eagerly awaiting your elf first night scene. Honestly I would rather that than worrying about extending the hug for now.

yeah exactly the elf first night scene is more important than the hug imo

also the elf has had more bugs and has needed improving where as the hug thing could be tweaked after the first night is sorted it depends on what you want more

although i do wonder if that screaming is just an act put on for the sake of male PC to get her hooks into him for the upcoming DR offer... i'd give her the credit of being capable of some basic manipulation like that.

On the subject of "what would Alistair and PC do (afterwards)" ... that probably has something to do with how they were acting up to this point. I mean, if Alistair got hardened and then talked into threesomes which he apparently liked quite a bit... well, getting then to wade through a swamp may be less of emotional issue then both for him and the PC.

It really depends on how you play your PC.  I can see some PCs not being bothered at all by it.  But while Alistair never seems happy about it, I can see him being better able to deal with it if he's hardened.  He's just not all "Woot!" about it.

Yeah, I can see the downplaying it approach making it a much less terrifying and angsty thing. I'm so wholly committed to giving him every horrifying detail that I forget that you can joke around and sort of send him on his merry way with a smidge of emotional blackmail and very little information at all.

Well, there's a pretty huge difference between the threesome, which is no-strings mindless fun that involves his girlfriend, and the DR, which is wrapped up in strings and involves sleeping with someone he not only dislikes, but who also sees and treats him like the sort of worthless nothing he's been raised to think he is.

Plus that it is a shady magic ritual.  If he knows that a child is going to be produced and that Morrigan is seeking an old god, there is that added mind freak.  And it all revolves around the revelation you just got that one of the three Wardens is going to die and this is your only chance to avert that.

Hardened Alistair is easier to convince to do something morally ambiguous, but he still argues against it, still wants a good reason why, and still gives you sad-disgusted-face.

There are so many factors that go into play for every game....I think hardened and more sexually liberated Alistair might indeed be able to kind of close his eyes, get the deed done, and not look back as much.  More like Loghain in that situation.

My Alistair, though, in my canon game, while hardened is still very much sex = love and I'm sure it breaks his heart to have to be with anyone other than his beloved, even if they've ended the relationship at this point.  The thought of having to sleep with Morrigan for any reason is sickening, and he only does it because he know the love of his life will try to throw away her own to save his.  If he could guarantee he could take the final blow, that's what he'd do instead, rather than have to touch Morrigan.

IIRC, Hardened Alistair takes more convincing. You can pretty much bowl right over unhardened Alistair but using the same approach on Hardened Alistair takes an extra line (and might require a persuade check).
