cmessaz, you have been a goddess, doing more than anyone thought possible. We are verrrrry grateful for what you did with the Alistair stuff, trust me!

Yeah but I need to move on. Just waiting on a couple more things then I'm doing Leliana, then Zevran, then Morrigan.

LOL, my dwarf/Leliana is next. Already did dwarf/Morrigan. Suffice it to say, you will have at least one dwarf tester if you need one. =D

LOL....really, my gripe was not that I couldn't play Awakening.  My gripe was that I can't get motivated to play DA at all.  It makes me sad.

Oh, right.  Well I've "quit" the game a few times and here I am, even writing silly fanfiction.  It's like quicksand.

Your fic is not silly!

Just wait until you're writing fanfic about ideas that came out of the gush thread and it's not a parody fic and is quite serious...  >.>

I kept screwing up, so she kept getting Alistair ass. Worked out pretty well for her.

*wonders if there's any existing Mahariel/Mahariel story on ff.net*

Right so I have your morph and was planning to romance Zev with my dalish. Now I realise that it is slightly creepy.

LOL No.  I just looked.  >.> Yes, I am sorely lacking on motivation to work on the thesis or tear my hair out with Photoshop.

This will apparently be the first!  :wizard: Though it's not going to go on ff.net until my current fic is done - there are spoilers for that story's ending, not that everyone here in the gush thread doesn't know a large portion fo them anyways.  But I figure there are people reading who think I'll give them a particular ending at the end of this one, and I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise just yet.  :P

LOL It's not creepy in that context, since Mahariel is a character and not a fixed appearance. It's still Zevran, just a Zevran who looks like my Mahariel. Unless you have a PC who looks just like the companion, there's nothing weird about it.

I just can't morph Zevran at all.  He's sacrosanct.  Not like he can grow a beard or get longer hair like Maricstair, and I "fell" for him as he is, so he stays.

I like the Nelaron shots I saw a few pages back, though I'd want the tattoo off for that.

I honestly can't romance Vanillazevran. I don't like it.

I don't like morphing any NPC. I feel like they wree made that way for a reason, so I let them be. You can't remove that nasty hairy mole of your RL Aunt Gertie's face, so why should you morph your NPCs??

I'm fine with his face.  I just made it a touch younger.

Mine is only slightly changed. His eyebrows for instance were set to GRAY for pete's sake. That needed fixed. I reduced some of the blending of the wrinkles in his cheeks and forehead, because someone who remains positive like he does isn't going to age as deeply from a rough life. But they ARE still visible, especially around his eyes, because his laugh lines are absolutely must have.  Other than that, I lessened the squint by a couple ticks to show off his eyes more, and increased the pupil size just a smidge. And I did NOT touch his mouth, that is one sexy lower lip.

I had to mod Zevran for my first romance with him because I couldn't take his appearance seriously. I'm spoiled by dwarven men where they look like bulked up football players. They're just pure testosterone so Zev was this slender elf in comparison with a very strong tan and long blonde hair that reminded me of a teenaged surfer. Once I got to know his backstory, it became easier for me to return him to his original look gradually. I like him with a ponytail as it makes him look more dashing. Since I knew I was going to romance him again at some point, I asked soignee which look she liked Zev in. She said his default vanilla model so I left him unmodded for this game. I noticed that people get their squee on when they see the characters they know and recognize so I have no problem with just leaving them alone. I almost modded my Alistair for my last DN game so it would feel different, but I saw all the Maricstair reactions, lol. =D

I adore tmp's version of Leliana, but when I romance her on my next dwarf, she will be unmodded because it's clear that the Leliana fans like her as she is. I want them to enjoy my screenshots and see the Leliana they know so no mods for that game! ;)

I can understand that then.  SerissiaTamlen was like magic, for instance.

I also prefer my Zevran with his scarred and weathered face, makes sense he would be covered. I wish there were body tattoos, as he talks abuot having them everywhere. His hair I can take or live, the plaits seem super fussy. I take it as lore, and write it as such.

I think the problem with a lot of characters and morphs is what people do with the eye size, and make them waaay too big.  I realize on characetrs like this, eyes that are the correct size proportionally are going to look too small.  So having the eyes a bit bigger than normal is fine.  But people go overboard with this.  When you make huge eyes, your characters look bug-eyed and insane.

If I'm going to increase eye size, and I usually do a little bit, I compensate by giving them a less rounded shape and bringing them in slightly closer together.  To me, it looks far more natural.

The same thing goes with lips on characters.  People make them too big in an attempt to make them stand out or "pouty".  And it looks god-awful.  *shrugs*  Maybe it's just me, but exagerating features like that to such an extent does not make for pretty chars.  Remember golden ratios and what not.  You're going for symetry, and not just vertical symetry.

I don't like to make radical changes (I know some people consider Maricstair radical), but the game has limitations so if someone wants to make an NPC look closer to how he looks in their head, or get some variety between playthroughs, why not.

That's why my Zev morph was only slightly varied. I like his vanilla look. But the gray eyebrows had to go and the wrinkles were overdone aside from the eye area. And his eyes were too gorgeous not too "pop" a little. though the LOTC's textures mod really did that on it's own.
