I was born in America, it bores me now. :P But seriously, I just want to be in a different place, even if I don't stay there for my whole life, probably because I've never been out of country. I don't like feeling boxed in and I feel that way in America.

I'm dying to get stationed in Europe. I never ever thought I'd have the chance to see another country. Driving through BC, Canada in dead of winter to get from one part of Alaska to another does NOT count. But since he enlisted, we could. I think we're waiting til the girls are out of school and moved out though. Germany is very high on my list. From there, all of Europe and WWII sites open up for me.

Yeah, since my son is very young, it would be better for me choose a country before he gets in school, or at least in some sort of high school. Japan is my first option but I'm willing to go other places. KoP suggested Canada, but I would laugh every time everyone said "aboot" (because I'm a dumb American, please excuse that joke:P)

I'm going to Canada!

And it's not really aboot. It sounds more like aboat >.>

When? KoP's been trying to get me to go to Canada (or Syria lol). Apparently Montreal has a European vibe to it, but I would still think of Mounties, because of all the jokes:P

Hopefully in September but there have been some... complications. I actually wanted to go to Scotland, but BC is a good alternative I think.

My father and his wife went to Ireland and they want to go to Scotland next. My father is Irish, my step-mom is Scottish, so they were wanting to go to their motherlands

I guess I'm lucky - daughter of immigrants so I've been back to both my parents' home countries several times now (Hong Kong and the Philippines).  I might even get to go back for Christmas this year!  Both my parents' grew up in third world conditions, so I have no problem staying in America and being here.  :P  We used to travel a lot when I was a kid too so I've been to Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico and the Carribean islands....my one big dream is to go to Rome some day.

Alistair: Challenge? I'd gladly hop borders!  I've never even come close to leaving Ferelden!

What are you getting your degree in? Aren't you getting a PhD?

Alas, I was until about a year and a half ago.  About that time I realized that I would have to kill myself for the degree and I didn't really want it.  :P So I stepped down to a Masters, and that's what I'm defending my thesis for - a Masters of Science in Genetics.  Can't wait to be done!

That's what I did too.. I was going to go for a Ph.d, but then when I was nearly complete with the Masters I realized I didn't even want to be in that field. I ended up with 2 master, in completely different subjects. Oh well, at least I enjoyed school !!

Alas, I really hate research.  :P  I do NOT want to work in academia, I never did, but grad school seemed the next logical step for some reason.  It wasn't until two years into my PhD that I found out about genetic counseling, and I figured that I would finish my current degree then go for the one I wanted.  Then crap happened and I decided it was better to cut out while I was still sane - now my defense is in two and a half weeks!

I've never left the country but I'm also really happy with where I live so I'm not really inclined to move to a different one. Maybe going to New York or California if I absolutlely had to change STATES but, again, my current location is great. Posted Image

 I loved Germany, it's beautiful. And the people I met there was so nice. I think I've felt most welcomed in Germany & Ireland. Maybe it has something to do with all the beer! :P

I was born in CA & still live here, but I've travelled all over the place. I first went to Germany when I was 18, all by myself, for months. That was an adventure! And I really learned to never pack any more than you can carry comfortably, for hours at a time. And to *practice* carrying said luggage around the house first -- especially if it's a backpack.

After that I was a little addicted to work/study programs, where you either worked in a country and got free room & board, or studied at a foreign university. I did Germany, Israel, Ireland, England, Russia, Costa Rica & Greece. The last couple years I switched to exploring the US instead, which can be like visiting different countries sometimes!!

After playing Assassin's Creed II and watching the Godfather (and crying), I relly want to live in Italy. I've decided that my honeymoon is going to be in Italy, and no, I do not need the consent of my future wife, it's already decided :P

You might want to bring that up before the wedding. Like 'Do you want kids? How many? How do you feel about Italy? That last one's a deal-breaker.' Posted Image

It's best for you to have a list of them now so you don't have to call off the wedding the morning of because she let slip that she doesn't like Xanatos.

Trust me, that isn't a deal breaker:lol:

Though who do you love more; your fiance or Xanatos? Lol, don't answer, I don't want your head to explode:P

Considering how my ideal girl has to have a Xanatos vibe to her, I doubt she would dislike him.
But yea, I will compile a list and only reveal it when that girl managed to deduce a few of them on her own.

Ooh, now I want to know EVERYONE's deal breakers. For me - probably the highest on my list would be some sort of substance abuse. Followed by humourlessness. And then possibly politics, although Australian politics at the moment is so same/same that it would have to be a fairly extreme form of politics before I'd have a problem with it. Same with religion.

Hm, off the top of my head I'd have to go with: expect you to be clean-shaven after the wedding, refuses to argue about anything, refuses to stop trying to get you to quit playing video games, insists on naming her firstborn Alistair, doesn't have a sense of humor, comparing you to Alistair, hatred of your culture...how many of those count?
