Hello.

Just popped into your thread to say that, after a deal with Sylvanaire I have now finished Dragon Age for the first time with my HNF marrying a totally besotted Alistair and becoming Queen. I even got the rose and everything. It was very different and quite enjoyable.
So now I really know what I'm talking about. Not just discussing from youtube vids. Posted Image

Alistarians are making deals to lure people into the fold, eh?  Well played, sylvan.  Posted Image

What was Sylv's side of the deal, btw?

She had to promise to make a HNM who married Anora. I see it more as a form of mutual disarmament pact.

/Edit. So as to not totally besmirch Syl's reputation, she still killed Loghain and let Ali live happy as a warden.
I hope you forgive me for telling on you Syl.Posted Image

Identifying with your characters is a huge part of enjoying the play through, so I think we all understand.

Did it change any of your opinions/ideas?  Just out of curiousity.

If you tell him where you're from and you're a CE then he's very nice about it but if you're at least a dwarf and one would think the other non-CE origins then he's all 'no it's not' and suddenly I can't really feel that much sympathy about his loss.

I've never romanced him as a dwarf, what does he say, exactly? I know if you choose the option for "X was my home" with humans and elves, he'll give you something like 'LMAO, NOT ANYMORE!' But I thought if you choose 'it's with you now,' he'll do the 'I didn't know you felt that way' line. Er, but then, it's been a long time since I've done anything other than a mage, so I could be wrong.

I think he has the same lines no matter your origin for the 'my home is with you now' but if you say it's Orzammar (or with your clan, Highever, or the Circle I'm guessing) then he says something like 'oh, but it's not really anymore since you can never go back there' and at the time he's technically right - especially if get exiled - but do I really want to hear that from him?

He says that about a mage, and a dwarf. In both cases, at that very point he's right. It can't be your home ever again. You've been exiled/kicked out.

City elf and Dalish are the "you must miss them very much" and Human noble is him saying "Oh right, stupid of me. I'm sorry"

What?

And no, I didn't already order it.  I spoke to her 3 weeks ago, got a quick reply and then...nothing.  I don't actually like to work that hard at giving people money, so I'm kind of meh on the whole thing now.

I think he told my DCF that she "could never go home anymore, right?", so similar to the others.  I think she's the only one I've had use that line though.  My HNF and DEF both admitted that their home was with him.

What is your outlook on the relationship/partnership post-wedding? I've read your Cousland/Anora stories, do you have anything similar planned for Cousland/Alistair (if not stories, just thoughts about how things might work out for them).

A big part of the fun in writing those Anora/Cousland fics is that it seems virtually no one else seems interested in it. Anora is after all the woman so many loves to hate. The Alistair/FCousland relationship on the other hand has inspired tons of stories, so it's hard to bring a fresh perspective there.

There is also the fact that, as much as I liked this play through, I never had the same identification with my Beth Cousland as with her male counterpart who married Anora. So whatever I say may seem bland or uninteresting to you.

Maybe not! I think you did a really great job on making Michael and Anora's relationship believable and interesting, and I know that you're a very thoughtful player. Most Alistair/Cousland stories are really romance focused, it would be cool to hear the opinion of someone who would be thinking outside of that box.

Yeah. I sent her this really early in the morning on the 28th of May

Over at the bioware forums I encountered two of your commissions for DA (Gilsa's DN prison goodbye and Lady Jess' DC cheerful are barefoot in prison) and I really liked them so I was wondering if you could do two for me.

Assuming you're willing, I'd like the first one to be an Aeducan family portrait (King Endrin, Trian, Bhelen, and my DN Aunn) and the second to be something with Aunn and Gorim, preferably at least hinting that they're involved but tragically not the sweet goodbye at the prison because sometimes princess' are too prideful for their own good an refuse to do that in front of an audience when it's sure to get back to Bhelen.

I'd also like them both to be the 1200 x 1800 pixels (4"x6"). From what I understand of your rates, that would be ten dollars for the first one plus six for the three extra people bringing it up to sixteen and ten for the second plus two more for Gorim bringing that up to twelve making the total $28. Tragically I only have DA for the console but I did include some manually taken shots of my DN for reference.

I hope you can get back to me one way or another and with more details.

And a few hours later she got back to me with:

Hi,

I'd be happy to do these commissions for you! Just to be clear, do you want the Aunn and Gorim piece to be their goodbye, or just a general hinting-they're-involved-couples scene?

My paypal email is mengjuliameng@yahoo.com. The two commissions would be $28 please.

Thanks for the interest!

Then the first one was done on the 31st and she sent me another message.

Hi, I've finished one of your commissions! I did the Aeducan family portrait one first.

Here it is:

[link]

Hope you like it! Posted Image

BTW, it may be a while longer before I can get to your other Gorim/Aeducan one - I got two other orders placed at almost exactly the same time as yours - sorry! Shouldn't be longer than 1-2 weeks at the most, I think.

Those turned out to be TotoroTori's and Yuki's and then the second one game on the 16th.

Oh I know he's right. I just didn't see why he felt the need to pour salt in the wound if you're clearly missing your home by reminding you that you can't go back. It's not like your declaring your intent to ditch the Wardens to go back or anything and I would rather have the 'oh, you must miss it there' that apparently both elf origins get.

Sarah, awww, maybe I threw her by asking for Anders. We shall see.

Question about mods: I want to make a male mage with Morrigan's eyes (a model for her son with Alistair) and wanted to know if the mods on nexus work for both males and females? Can you get Morrigan's eye colour with a male PC?

I think his reply was thought as a way to acknowledge what happens in different origins and to account for more than one. For those who can go back and still have family: you must miss them, for those who can't go back: a reminder that they can't, thus making a reference to what has happened.

Yes, you should be able to as the colours are shared by males and females.

It didn't change my opinion that much I think. I have been through my phase of being upset with him for leaving at the Landsmeet when I pardoned Loghain on my first run, and then calm down and see other sides of him too. Now I did get to see the scenes when he loves the PC too, and even if it was cute I guess it's not the same if you are a heterosexual man, more likely to watch your own character's boobies in the sex scene...

One thing that did strike me is how very young he seems to me. Sometimes he is awkward and a little shy when he feels out of his depth, the next moment he has no doubts at all about his choice on some very complicated moral issues. That feels like how a very young person might react.

I agree that it would have been better. Depending on how you RP, you might hate being a Grey Warden and want nothing more than to go home, and then he acts so flippant about the fact that you can't. It rubbed me wrong the first time I got it too, so I tend to pick other options now, to avoid it.

I thought somewhere, DG said that someone's timeline looked pretty good, but he wasn't positive on all the dates, and that it had Alistair pegged for being in his early twenties? Or is that not entirely right?

Either way, Alistair sees things in black and white and reacts accordingly. Although if you choose to harden him, he starts to see in shades of grey.
