Hi everyone. I got so enthusiastic about making a primer on medieval fighting that I've been working on it all day. I made a post on it just now. It's a lot links to video clips and some explanatory remarks. I hope you find this useful. Please let me know if this is what you wanted or if you want something else.

Ah, I've watched many of these on Youtube, they are very interesting!

Hopefully a lot of people dig them. I really enjoyed learning about the Greatswords and how only the tops really were sharp, and they were commonly used in a sort of 'staff-fighting' position to jab, bludgeon, trip, and block with.

I've noticed something very odd. Even though I haven't written Alistair as a LI (well, he thinks he is in one and he thinks he's a former one in another but he isn't) he still ends up being important in a lot of my stories. Should I blame this thread?

We can take it.  Posted Image

I blame this thread that I'm writing DA fanfiction at all.

It just occured to me that I have a Queen Cousland with four one-shots written about her. I guess it really says something with how much I connected with the character that I completely forgot that she existed... Posted Image

Alright who murdered the thread this time!?

Edit: attempting to revive, we found this kitten running around meowing outside our house the other day. it is very little and was sick, but it's doing better now. we live in arizona and it's very hot, so it's (don't know the sex) lucky.

Awwww, silly C-Maz!  Hold it on his back, and look between his hind legs.  If there's an itty bitty kitten-sized nub, then it's a boy!  If no nub, its a girl.

This cracks me up! I was just talking about "buds" and "nubs" when I read fan fic. Yeah I don't wanna. Hubby can do that.

Awww, kitteh! It's so lucky you found it!

Depending on how old it is, it may be hard to tell the sex. A girl looks kind of like an upside down exclamation point, a boy looks more like a colon :  There's more space between the dots for a male, and less space between for the girl. *looks for images to explain*

OK - so Darkspawn Chronicles.
Spoilar text below.
How unfair is that 'alternate history' thing to Alistair? I think he could be a good leader, if he was forced into it. Generally, he agrees with the GW where it counts. Loved the game, but the ending made me feel bad for him. And I hate to feel bad for Al! :(

Edit. Damn - I suck at seeing colour properly. Sorry.

Odds on this starting rants on how much of a Mary Sue this DLC makes your Warden?

I don't think it has any basis in canon. It was more like 'Oooo, let's let the player battle werewolves, templars, and golems!'
I suppose Alistair might've taken the easy road and let the mages be anulled, but I really can't see him ever siding with the werewolves or Branka. I honestly didn't buy that DLC because I prefer character development to hack n slash, although I did watch the Alistair cutscene and it made me tear up.:crying:   *cuddles Alistair*

ETA: What is wrong with my profile pic? Why is it dead? *And how do you all get purdy pictures instead of the default CC one?*

I agree, I think it is unfair that Alistair would fail if we weren't around.  I get the impression that the entirety of DSC was done by the devs for the lulz.  I mean, some of the codexes were absolutely ridiculous (but hilarious!)

Ooops. Sorry. I just wanted to vent my Alistair sadness. lol

Edit

And I enjoy it as a silly standalone. It's because it advertises itself as 'an alternate history' that I get irked by the implicatin that the GW was the be all and end all of saving the world.

Kinda on the same level as no one caring on Warden Commander. Alistair matters, dammit!

Well, you have to remember that's pretty much unhardened Alistair who fails at everything.  I mean in DC he's with Leliana so you know she's not hardening him.  If I had to guess he probably got bossed around by Morrigan a lot... and laughed at.

I dunno if that makes the PC a Mary Sue so much as it makes him just look completely incompetent.

It's actually semi-challenging cause your characters are specced so badly! :wizard:

I didn't waste money on it. It was one giant homage to PC McAwesomesauce and that fact that unless he/she was there to fart sunshine out of their ass, the world went to hell in a handbasket.

Garbage.

The first part is challenging, the rest is cake once you get the Shriek + Ogre combo working.

Once you get the emissary, it's a walk through the park.
