What happens if you put an hardened Alistair on the throne by himself, and name yourself counciler with Loghain dying in the Landsmeet?
He defers most decision making to the chancellor, but is more independent than unhardened Alistair.
Still, the Chancellor has much more power under him than under Anora, hardened or no.
Makes sense to me. Anora breathes politics and wants the power to do everything her way.
Alistair is completely new to this so naturally he is more dependent on advice, even if he's willing to learn.
It would be embarrassing for Anora if it would be otherwise.
What is kind of annoying is that you could be an illiterate duster or city elf (I know you needn't roleplay them this way) or a sheltered and supressed circle mage and somehow you are Chancellor Awesomesauce per default. How come these Origins mircaculously know politics?
A mage could easily learn it in their studies. They don't just learn magic I'm sure. I mean you go there as children much of the time, I'm guessing you get regular studies as well as magical.
A Duster would know how politics woork in Orzammar, they'd have to, considering how badly it effects them. Plus Rica is your sister, and has been educated, so she could teach you.
A City elf would live with Ferelden politics all of their lives as well.
And there's also the idea that hardened Alistair defaults related issues to them, not all issues. Unhardened, well Eamon is still around, the PC may be learning from him as well.
