Oh, I sided with Bhelen from the get-go. I wasn't going to mess with Rica's head. I honestly hadn't decided between Cairdin or Branka. Even when I failed my persuade with Zevran, I still had the choice of agreeing or disagreeing with him. I sat there for a few minutes considering this. Alistair had a good counterpoint about toiling as a golem for all eternity. Trapped in a body like that with no real way to experience the pleasures of life? It'd just be more dirty work for casteless to do at the bidding of nobles. And Bhelen didn't seem to care whether or not Branka lived so ... *shrugs.* I guess that's the choice I made at the time. Need to write that down in my notebook before I forget. =p

Edit: I've only done one treaty so far. Here are my failed checks to date.

- Failed to persuade Reverend Mother in releasing Sten. Threatened to conscript him. Failed THAT check since she wouldn't be caught helping Grey Wardens. Leliana finally stepped in.
- Failed to persuade Bohdan to share his story at camp. YAY!!!
- Failed to persuade Alistair in recruiting Zevran. Got a funny line about kick to the head.
- Failed to intimidate thug leader in Dust Town. Said Jarvia would kill him if he told me where she was so he went down swinging.
- Failed to persuade/calm Ruck so he went down fighting. Oh, well, no Legion of Dead shield.
- Failed to persuade Zevran in sparing the anvil. Got the "hard as a rock" line.

I forgot you were playing DC. Are you going to keep going with no persuasion to see what else you can get?

An interesting tidbit about playing a mage, this happened when i maxed out my cunning over 30.

A new line of dialogue appears with the sloth demon in the first fade quest, giving you the option to skip the riddles. Seems pointless, considering it would take awhile for a mage to get high cunning without cheats.

I just imagined you (avatar you) hitting on Anders in an utterly bored monotone, eyes darting over to Alistair for any flicker of joy.

It's hilarious in my head.

Heh, didn't have Leliana with me when doing that so in the end had to pick the cage lock and steal him. Otherwise got most of these lines too -- only gave my CE one point in coercion to simulate people generally not willing to listen to an elf nevermind actually feeling threatened by one... so she fails most of the checks. It's fun, though Posted Image

Another Broken Dialogue? I think you should be given this option with just 1 persuade skill.

I was THIS close to picking the intimidate line and now I regret not doing that because would I have failed that, too? =p I need to load up an earlier save and look.

You know what I just realized...I seem to only play Awakenings just past Alistair's kiss-on-the-cheek goodbye. After that I pretty much lose interest

So... I hesitate to add to the pages of cat and dog spam from last night, but this is a beautiful dog.  Is that at a dog show?  If it isn't, she looks like she could be!

For some reason I'll never be able to explain, dog shows make me cry.  Posted Image  In a good way, I guess.

Sorry about replying so late....oops, lol.  Yes, it's at a show, all my dogs show both 'for pretty' and for work, as well.  Beauty and brains...too many brains as the last stunt my crew came up with is figuring out how to open the freezer of our new 'fridge.  We just got one of the models where the freezer is the bottom section that pulls out like a large drawer...oops  :(

They do everything from herding sheep to search&rescue work as well as protection, obedience, therapy work, and skijoring.  One thing about these dogs is their need to work, and they still get creative and get into trouble!

--

I just did it again...started Awakenings and stopped shortly after Alistair.  I don't know if I'll ever finish it ever again.

I use Intimidates pretty often on my elves actually. People do seem to fear the elves a bit (especially the Dalish) so I use it. And I do the same on my Brosca. When my DC did Cariden it was Morrigan that had to be threatened with being a Golem.

This really makes me want to go through and see just how many stupid things like that there are. I will see about fixing that and then I will stick it up on my project. Thats stupid.

Yep. I like my Brosca having zero social skills. Leske was the one that was apologizing for Brosca's gaffes to the nobles and guards and later slapping Brosca upside the head for it. This is actually helping with Alistair becoming Leske 2.0 because he's her right hand man now and has the same sense of humor. Probably not the same moral compass, but he'd be doing the same facepalms that Leske would at certain points of the game.

My thinking at this point is that Brosca will reflect upon what Leske said to her when his betrayal was apparent.

Leske: "What was I supposed to do? You were gone and Jarvia's pulling the strings. Not all of us got your opportunities."
Brosca: "I thought you were happy for me!"
Leske: "Go off, be a warden, rah rah. I'd have shared a mug for it, sure. But I still gotta live here. Maybe you forgot with all that sun blinding you, but there weren't too many options."

Brosca may use this to put Alistair on the throne just to make sure he has better opportunities than Leske did. She put her sister's boyfriend/husband on the throne to make sure Rica and the baby were provided for. The formula seems to work so why not do the same for Alistair and make sure he's OK, too? I don't particulary care if he's king or not in this game. I may revise my gameplay as I listen to more dialogue and so on. =p

This is set to require a high intelligence, which would mean around 30 cunning. I can change it to low. Is there anyone who can test this for me?

Yes I've always rolled elves in medieval-type fantasy, and to a lesser extent noble human types.  I know others have said they usually play a warrior human type.  So I guess you do find a niche where you feel most comfortable.  Dwarf theme was not my favorite in Tolkien settings either.  I love that it's there, just don't enjoy having it as my character's story.

I just have a very hard time playing dwarf and seldom play elves too. It's probably because I'm 6'3" in real life so I don't really identfy well with short characters.

I've only finished it once, but I usually get as far as picking up the last companion.  I just really didn't like the end with the Architect and Mother.  It felt rushed or something.  I kept wanting to make the Architect as cool and diabolical/ noble as he was in The Calling and then... I got to kill him?!  That was so anti-climactic.
