You know the first time you see him in the middle of the Diamond Quarter with Bhelen if you go out of the Palace before going to the feast (which means he'll be in his room and not at the Proving)?Lady Jess wrote...

You can but you miss out on the first Trian/Bhelen conversation and can't set Trian to understanding.Lady Jess wrote...

Well, you can change things up if you redo it. You can run into Bhelen/Trian in the middle of the Diamond Quarter OR you can see the king first and he'll ask you to go find Trian for him and they'll be at Provings instead. Just for a different change of pace.Lady Jess wrote...
In my case it is, since it means deleting the character, remaking her, doing the whole origin again. And as we know the DN origin is a long one.
Can you still do the proving yourslf that way?
Here's an amusing picture of them not actually paying any attention to the Provings.
set trian to understanding?
If you choose this as your first dialouge choice:

2. I will go to the feast right now, Trian. (SET: Trian_Understanding)
(IF: Female) Trian: "Perhaps you were right, Bhelen, when you said our sister wasn't all useless breeding flesh." (The speaker is being rather disdainful of sibling.)
(IF: Male) Trian: "Perhaps you were right, Bhelen, when you said our brother wasn't entirely without regard for his duty and station." (The speaker is being rather disdainful of sibling.)
Trian: "I'll be along later to toast your command."

4. Bhelen, help me out here.
Bhelen: "You're on your own. I've been dealing with him all afternoon." (Slightly apologetic, perhaps some nervous laughter. The speaker is trying to make light of the situation.)
Trian: "What exactly is that supposed to mean, little brother?" (The speaker is trying to make his little brother defend his statement. His voice should sound slightly dangerous, slightly threatening.)
Bhelen: "Nothing, Trian. I've been having a great time. The speech you gave to the legless boy about hard work and making something of himself was fantastic..." (Speaker is back-pedaling like crazy, but with just a hint of sarcasm. He said something out of line and now must smooth things over with Trian before Trian does something nasty to him.)
Trian: "As heir to the throne, it is my duty to impart
wisdom and judgment upon those who need it." (Sanctimonious and preachy.
Sounds self-important when he starts talking about how, as heir to the
throne, it is his duty to boss people around.)
Trian:
"Now then, you, get to the feast!" (He's being extremely bossy. His
command is final and will brook no argument.) *Go to tree 1*
1. Yes, brother.
Trian: "That's my proper, dutiful sister/brother." (Speaker is showing some grudging approval of his sibling.)
Trian: "I'll be along later to toast your command."
Trian: "Come, Bhelen." (Brusquely, as though he were speaking to a dog or some other insignificant pet.)
Or if you have this exchange with Gorim after that confrontation:
Gilsa wrote...
Gorim: "That was fun. Nothing like being talked
down to by the next king." (Pure sarcasm. Some scorn directed at 'the
next king.') *Go to tree 2*
2. He means well. (SET: Trian_Understanding)
(IF: Gorim_Humbled) Gorim:
"Of course, my lady/lord." (Respectful, deferential) *End
dialogue*
Gorim: "You always defend him. I wish I had your understanding..." (Respectful and almost in awe) *End
dialogue*
This is useful for RPs when you respect/like Trian and makes it so that as far as everyone's concerned you always defend him him. As far as I know, the only dialogue change it makes is Bhelen's first line after Trian leaves.

(IF: Trian_Understanding) Bhelen: "I honestly don't know how you put up with him." (Trian has left, and the speaker is free to express his opinions of him. He's tired of Trian and it should show.)
1. Hes not that bad.
Bhelen: "There was a time I would have agreed with you, but I've recently had to rethink my views on our brother." (Speaker seems very weary of his elder brother's antics and has lost any respect he once had for him.) *Go to tree 2, lines 1, 2, or 3*
2. My patience is beginning to wear thin.
Bhelen: "And what I'm going to tell you next won't make you any more fond of him." *Go to tree 2*
3. Smile, nod, do my duty.
Bhelen: "I wish that sense of duty and family loyalty was shared by our elder brother." (Speaker seems very weary of his elder brother's antics and has lost any
respect he once had for him.) *Go to tree 2, lines 1, 2, or 3*
--------------------------------------
(IF: NOT Trian_Understanding)
Bhelen: "All day I've put up with that. He can really grate on the nerves." (Trian has left, and the speaker is free to express his opinions of him.
He's tired of Trian and it should show.)
1. I agree.
Bhelen: "And what I'm going to tell you next
won't make you any more fond of him." (Speaker is warning his sibling.
He should sound a little conspiratorial.) *Go to tree 2*
(IF: Trian_Scheming) 2. I'm just waiting for the right time to get rid of him.
Bhelen: "Well, time is something you may not have much of left." (Speaker has been told that one of his siblings is waiting for the right time to get rid of their older brother. This should be said with a note of warning.) *Go to tree 2*
3. Well, he's our elder brother. I suppose it's his right.
Bhelen: "Is it also his right to secure his own power at the expense of everyone around him?" (Speaker is warning his sibling. He should sound a little conspiratorial. This is actually the beginning of an elaborate set-up -- Bhelen is trying to trick the player into killing Trian in "self-defense," or failing that, to frame him for the murder. That way Bhelen can take the throne. This whole conversation should have an undertone of conspiracy in it because of this.) *Go to tree 2*
