Oh, I didn't realize my post wasn't clear. I'm guilty of sometimes getting ahead of myself or rambling. I wasn't referring to what David Gaider said about Loghain's knowledge of the Couslands. I was referring to what Duncan said about the Warden's responsibilities taking precedent over even vengeance. A fact that Alistair seems to set aside during the Landsmeet.

The part about Gaider was how he defends Alistair's actions at the Landsmeet regarding Loghain.

i imagine it probably does affect alistair_main. i haven't taken a look at equal love, but it seems likely that's the case. kisses at BSN and Nexus ~~ can you also link me to yours so i can add them to my mod links? i admit that i am not quite up to date with the alistair mods since i have not romanced him (yet)

I am not a Loghain fan at all but I truly believe he had NOthing to do with the Cousland's slaughter. That was pure Howe. Now promoting him knowing what happened is where I come into first conflict with Loghain. Recall though that Howe manufactured documents saying the Couslands were conspiring with Orlesians (which played right into Loghain's paranoia) and even if Loghain wasn't stupid enough to fall for that cheap tactic, he was looking the other way because he needed someone seedy like Howe to do the dirty work for him (Howe brings Zevran, Howe tortured the nobles and warden supporters to get information, Howe had his elite force killing/capturing warden supporters in Denerim) Granted all with Loghain's implied protection but still it WAS Howe doing these things.



Loghain falls in a gray area but that's what makes him so interesting to me. I can hate on him all I want but I do see there are things to admire in him as well. For me he IS the villian of DA because I can understand (and to some extent sometimes sympathize with him) and I have the most fun casting him in this role. The AD seems more a force of nature than a true villian (I guess that would make it an antagonist).

He doesn't set it aside, though.  You know right from the get-go that he means to make Loghain pay for what he did to the Wardens and Cailan.  You even have that one line where you assure him Loghain will get what's coming to him, and he's like 'Oh, I know.'

Going off-topic here, but is there a cinematic trailer anywhere with Alistair in it? I just watched the Sacred Ashes trailer earlier today and it was fan-effing-tastic. @A@

My point was more if he was truly able to see what is best for Ferelden he'd be able to set aside his own anguish and pain.  Though, that is a bit of meta-gaming since at that point in the Landsmeet Alistair and the PC don't know that one or the other will have to die in order to kill the Archdemon. 

I understand David's (Alistair's) PoV very clearly.  It's just the fact that as Duncan says, a Wardens duty takes precedent over everything else.  I think this is more clearly shown in Awakening where the PC is required to almost constantly make incredibly tough choices. 

I'm not arguing that Loghain's actions were in anyway justifible.  It just would of been a more fitting end if he'd been able to atone for his sins.  Loghain regardless of what anyone thinks of him played a crucial role in freeing Ferelden and putting Maric on the throne.  While there is an opition to do just that in the game the turn of events that is required to do such doesn't sit well with me.  I always have Alistair run Loghain through.

If anyone has ever played Suikoden II, Loghain reminds me a lot of Luca Blight.

As the Cousland child or city elf, I never let Alistair have the duel. Loghain was complicit with everything Howe did to me/my people. He may not have helped directly, but he as mentioned, rewarded the man who did it. And yeah, he put Maric on the throne, but wants to keep it from his only surviving son. I see his good points, but the mistakes bury them for me. To me, Alistair getting his vengeance at the landsmeet...well it just happens to be convenient. I got mine by convenience in the dungeons, rescuing Anora, Alistair gets his by convenience at the landsmeet. But I take the duel, and keep the blood on MY hands if I'm making him King. With his full approval of course.

Thank yas. Yeah she's a Dalish mage. I was so happy to see that mod, since it SHOULD have been a vanilla origin in my opinion. It's not the LoF hair, just one of Rens hairstyles. te file name in the toolset is Rens_02 I *think*

It's been pretty much all downhill from there. And by "downhill", I mean "sexy."
