I'm in a similiar boat right now. I wanted to change things up and be pragmatic so I went after Witherfang's heart and brought it back to Zatharan. Discovered that he had been hoping Witherfang would kill me so he wouldn't have to fulfill the treaty, but he'd keep his word. Ugh. And then he gave me the reward I demanded at the onset and this is the first time I've seen a weapon that looked like this:



My character is not a 2H warrior and I can't pass it on to any of my companions since it's Grey Wardens only. I wish I had known about this for when I had played 2H warriors because I like Grey Warden weapons, especially that griffon design. Eh. But Zath is a dick. Since I can't really use that weapon right now, I might as well go ahead and redo my save and kill the bastard.

Edit: And lol @ Gorim making you feel bad. You can't win!

Wow!  I didn't know all that.  How do you find out he was hoping you'd die?  That would... really suck, especially as a Dalish PC.  Would you be able to pull a video of that conversation?

Wow, so Zathrien comes off worse if you actually side with him? That's unusual in this game.



Why can't Alistair use it? He's not a 2H warrior either?

It's not often I see the back of my crew, so when we came out of the darkspawn tunnels I was admiring how nice the guys looked in their black and the black-and-gold swords.

The lighting in the Korcari Wilds is awesome and really kind on Alistair.  Not that he needs extra kindness in the drool department, of course.

You need THIS it includes a requirement removal mod. Equip the axe, zap yourself with the requirement removal and poof. Also, this works on armor strength requirements, so my Noble can wear the set she gets for finishing Orzammar...yay!

He has a different line if the PC is an elf, but for everyone else, he flat out admits to this. I will toss up a video.

From what I can tell, killing Witherfang and bringing back the heart without doing the "make Zath talk to Lady" stuff does not give me the opportunity to kill Zath. He makes me go back to camp with him because he's not letting that heart out of his sight.

If I brought Zath to the lady and still sided with him, then I get the opportunity to realize that his second-in-command knows how to use the heart to cure the hunters so I can finish off Zatharan right then and there.

And I'll put up a video of his conversation with me, sure. Give me a few.

Oh god...does she then also know how to recreate the curse? That could be scary. I can just see killing witherfang and Zathrien,iving the heart to the second, and thinking all is well. Then fast forward, next game...she has done it herself, at which point my warden would say oh screw this, EVERYONE dies this time!

Just FYI, I included the elf lines below so you'd know the differences:

PC: "I believe you were actually hoping Witherfang had killed me."
Zath: "That is not true. I value your life very highly. I think you can see for yourself why I would not have been able to do what you have."

PC:  "I don't appreciate being lied to."
Zath: "Please, accept my apology. You are an elf and yet I did not trust you completely. It is... difficult for me, after the life I have led."

LOL, that is very true -- I forgot I had that installed. I was mostly using it to change colors of outfits (I wanted heavy chainmail in dark colors -- dark grey or black if possible, but nooo). I figured worst case scenario, I save it for Oghren in Awakening. =p

Haven't decided if I'll redo though. If I stick with this decision, I'll be able to talk to Zath again about the archdemon before we march to Denerim so that may be worth seeing. (Based on what I've seen in the toolset.)

Edit: Quick question -- any idea what's causing this blue glow around my character? I have no runes in my weapons, have mods to turn off the effects of my abilities, and tmp's weapon glow removal. No mage in my group either. I think my weapons have spirit resistance on them. Could that be it? It's driving me nuts.

Oh, gawd, thanks. No wonder I couldn't figure it out. I swapped weapons and armors around, kicked people out of my groups, turned off sustained abilities all around, blah blah blah. Now I'll find the respec mod and just dump that. It really interferes with being able to take decent screenshots at times. No fun.

Smiling Alistair. Also, you can't see it but I gave him the Aeducan Shield, If He's gonna shield slam Bhelen, then by the Stone it is going to be with THAT shield.
