I think I may have to respec into a DW at this point. S&S is too damn boring and I want my decaps. The Aeducan shield is not worth this trauma! I give Alistair the Cousland shield after I romance him, he can have the Aeducan one too.
LOL yeah he's got Serena's too. She's a rogue, shields are pretty useless for her.
Is this a more common practice than I thought (giving family special items [HN & DN] to romance companions)? I do the same thing TBH

I think it works better with the HN since you have both the Shield of Highever and the Cousland Guard Shield at your disposal. Me, I equip the SOH on my Cousland, and the RomCom takes the CGS.

Well that's one thing. It's heraldry but not particularly precious to you and you can get other Cousland shields later if you must. I'm just strangely sentimental about family heirlooms and wouldn't want to give them to anyone but another relative of the next generation and hope that they'd be able to appreciate it and not give it to their spouse.MKDAWUSS wrote...

Are you kidding me? the human noble's family was just alughtered and it's all that's LEFT of them. The sword and shield are so important they are locked up in the armory, and you fight your butt off to save them, because they're too important to let fall into Howe's hands. It has been in service to the Couslands since they fought aalongside King Calenhad.

If I am S&S I keep the family sword/Shield to smash into Howe's face (and wear to the Landsmeet). Otherwise I have no other sentimentality attached to in game items. I give them to who can best make use of them. its kind of stupid it just sits in your inventory doing nothing when it can be used in game. If I have no use for it then I sell it. Inventory slots are precious if you have a lot of mods on your game.
My HNF is (so far) a rogue. She keeps the sword the whole game, eventually pairing it with Starfang. Alistair carries the shield.

No, not that shield. I was talking about the shield that is just a regualr shield that all the knights carry that you can get off one of the knight's corpses. On the one hand, it is one of only things you have with the Cousland symbol on it. On the other, once the Blight is over you can find another one and others will be made. The family sword and shield are, of course, very important to them.Lady Jess wrote...

Edit: Or maybe you also get it in the armory. All I know is you get a regular knight of Highever shield with the Cousland symbol on it and I doubt that that is really all that important to you when compared with your family's shield.

Oh the guard shield, yeah that usually gets vendored. Even when I start playing mine with the Gilmore mod, he carries a two hander in the origin so he won't use it. And Alistair gets the family shield.

Even though I never play S&S I keep the sword/shield. Usually it stays in my war's 2ndary weapon slot for the entire game. It doesn't see a lot of use, but a quick weapon swap and shield bash can help a LOT in the early game where 2h lags behind a bit. It's on a seperate CD from Pommel Strike, so you can alternate for "stunlock" goodness.sylvanaerie wrote...

@yuki -- play what you enjoy. I made a 2H DN so I could wield Trian's maul, but man, that playstyle was boring as hell. Stuck with it because I already had a S&S DN. Kept my characters feeling different, at least.
Yeah, the only reason I stuck with S&S is because I don't have any. But it's just too boring, jeez. I don't have any current DW characters so I guess it's an excuse to make one

Maybe I have? I am not really sure what the consensus is. Then again IRL I am very reserved in my emotional reactions unless it is anger, then I go off like a firecracker. Bad temper, lol.
