I did spend my commute wondering what position on a football team would best suit Alistair.  My initial thought was quarterback, and he's probably fast enough that he could do it.  He'd be one of those big guys who'd be dragging half the defensive line with him as he takes the ball across the goal line himself.

Too tall for a running back, not wiry enough for a wide receiver, but maybe a safety or tackle.  Lots of tooth-shattering tackling.  To the shouts of "for the Grey Wardens!!!!" 

I'm a little late to this party, but I was at the movies.

Alistair does have a very quarterback type build.  Tall, broad shoulders, good build, (handsome).  He can take a hit if he needs to, or take the ball across the line himself.  Able to stand his ground as the defense comes if that's what the play needs, but also with the dexterity to simply side-step the rush/blitz and get the play off.

I've been out of the football loop a long time.  I was thinking of Kyle Brady... but then I used to check that guy into the dining hall in college.
