Wearing fur is a luxury (unless we are in an old timey situation like cavemen). Eating is a necessity. And yes, you could be a vegetarian, but humans are omnivorous for a reason.

allegedly, so is ostrich. I have a friend who tells me bear meat is the tastiest thing ever, also.
But they're not part of a mainstream eating habit of human culture. The point I was that justifying leather as a product to wear because you can eat steak is a little skeevy due to how it's processed and made in factories.
