Off topic but when I sit to talk to Sarel in the Dalish Camp, I'm totally flashing that little boy that's sitting next to him. I guess I just can't keep my knees together when I'm around Alistair

I'm debating whether to start learning the toolset or not.  It's a b*tch to learn, I hear?  My interest in the game is winding down so it seems kind of late in the day to put that much effort in.  OTOH, you people really raise the bar in terms of PC appearance.  LOL  I suppose I don't care that much anyway.  Gameplay and especially story is more important to me than fiddling forever on their appearance.

The one really annoying thing about the new arcane warrior I'm working on is that I'd like her to be older, but the complexion slider in CC is awful.  You go from young/healthy-looking to wasting skin disease in the first jump.  I'd like just a few fine lines like Leliana has, a bit of weathering as opposed to middle aged.

For making morphs it's really not that hard to learn. I did it by trial and error for the most part. It's still pretty much sliders once you pick you colors and such. And I found it revived my interest at the time. Of course it's waning again, but with hubby coming home in the next several ays, I imagine it'll pick back up when HE starts playing again too.

Of course that makes tent time a bit awkward...especially when romancing Zev. "Oh sure, you can do THAT in a video game....":D

Everyone does that.  It's so unladylike!

Thank ya:) I also cropped Eamon out!  I've really had fun with her. TMP's dwarf kisses make it so EASY to look like you're having tent time ANYWHERE since he gets on his knees. BUt I think my favorite turned out to be in the Grey Warden Vault after he got the shield.

I mean there you are, alone (I never take anyone with us there), You've just given the man the icing on his cake with Duncan's Shield. Your rolling towards the final battle like an out of control freight train...it was a good spot to steal a moment.

I would say probably learning how to make headmorphs in the Toolset is the easiest of all the possible options.  If you were going to go that route ideally you would want to download all of the Toolset character creation mods if you don't already have them.  CC Tints and Tones, TMP's tucked hair, More Hairstyles, Drac's Eyes, etc.

File
New
Morph

You'll see a drop down window that says Chose Base this is where you chose the sex/race.

Once you've choosen your sex/race you should see a rather nondescript head spawn in one of the windows.  To the right of that you should see a window that says Object Inspector.  The Object Inspector is where you adjust all of the sliders.

I don't really have any tips on making faces in the Toolset other than when in down load up a picture of an actual person from Goggle to go off of.

After you're happy w/ your headmorph you'll want to say it.  It's going to ask you where you want to save it to.  Since you're saving the mrh file and not the morph this file can be saved anywhere on your computer.  It can also be opened later if you want to tweak your morph.  Once you have your morph saved right click on the name tab and do Post To Local.  The morph will automatically go where it needs to be.

Next you'll want to open up your most recent saved game das file.  Once you have it open you should see a bunch of names with + signs next to them.

+ the SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR
 + the SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR
  + the SAVEGAME_APPEARANCE

You should see SAVEGAME_APPEARANCE_MORPH_NAME (enter the name of your morph w/ the race/sex prefix  example: hf_seri01)

Save

Additionally if you find PC voices as annoying as I do you can just delete the voice set.  If you scroll down from where you just were you'll see SAVEGAME_PLAYER_SOUNDSET and SAVEGAME_DEFAULT_SOUNDSET.  You can just delete the name then save.

Adding additional helmets via the Toolset is actually fairly simple.  Since you're adding something that's already in the game all you do is:

File
New
Item

Base Item Type: Helmet Medium
Item Variation: Medium Helmet 1A
Material Progression: All Metal
Material Type: (this = the tier of the item)
Item Properties: (this is where you put in your item stats)

Save
Right Click on the name tab of the item and go to Export then Export w/o Dependant Resources

File
New
Script

Copy then paste this script into your script window.  Next remove the two additional lines since you're only adding one item.  After that replace the name ser_hdarmor w/ the name of your helmet.

Save
Right Click on the name tab of the item and go to Export then
Export w/o Dependant Resources

Enable the console if it isn't already enabled.

Activate your console w/ the tilda key then type in: runscript (name of your script)  If you were sucessful it should say sucess after you push enter.

That's great! I was looking for something like that! Can you, please, tell me, where to add a custom name to the texture used so the added item can have custom textures?

Uh... I'm hoping it's actually easier than it sounds.  LOL  Posted Image  But I'm not even going to attempt this now until I get back from vacation.  I should be finishing my current games instead of plotting a new PC anyway.

I think Idun is going to put Anora on the throne.  God, it's going to kill me.  But I want to think at least one of my elves can wake up next to Alistair every morning.

Very nice! That reminds me I need to grab your makeups. I'm getting bored with the smokey look and I have a HNF to create to play with Ser Gilmore.

I'm actually thinking about reforming my main Noble PC's head, give her actual green eyes and maybe try and make her face a bit more child like and innocent...any suggestions?

Doing a retexture is far more complicated.  It would probably take me about 30 mins to write an indepth guide on how to reskin an item.  Krayzie's guide is pretty solid.

Alternatively you can also do a custom tint.  Some people find this easier to do.  I haven't taken the time to go through this tutorial and learn myself yet.  I just find it easier to alter w/e in Photoshop.

You might be able to find a more through tutorial.  I don't know of one off hand though.

Yeah I was sad they're toolset only, another reason I was contemplating learning it.  I haven't bothered much about makeup because I usually go pretty earth tone/ naturalistic, but the new PC I'm cooking up is going to be a Scandi look, and the pale coloring needs a little something.

I'm sure it would make sense if I actually tried to do it rather than reading about it theoretically.

The reason most custom makeup is Toolset only is because it isn't a tint (shade of color) it's actual airbrushing that was done on the facial texture in Photoshop.  The only way to put that into the CC is to make a preset head and either have it overwrite an existing preset or add it to the chargenmorph.xml

The only draw back to linking a mor file in the das is that if you're not using Skip The Fade you'll get some lulz when you switch forms.  The same applies to mages that are going to be Shape Shifters.

You can alternatively replace a default head easily enough and export your mrh as a mop instead of a mor.  In the second to last tab you'll see something about exporting mop files and you set the value to True.  Then do save as and save to your desktop your headmorph as hf_cps_p01 (race/sex_cps_(postion 1-8) and then do Post To Local.

But...but...this is Ser Pounce-a-Landers we're talking about!  He is no ordinary cat! He has a pet mage!

Thanks!  And to Serissia as well.  In the end I may just content myself with vanilla plain jane.  I'm amazed I even still care enough about the game to think up a new character.  Maybe I should be appalled.

The most recent one I made was from scratch but I've made others from model's faces.  Just Goggle whoever you happen to find attractive and then try to find a picture where they're more or less expressionless if possible.  This will give you a decent guideline for how high/big the eyes, nose, lips, etc should be.

@Addai -- People can write a tutorial on how to open a peanut butter jar and it would still look complicated. It is absolutely worth learning toolset. I would start with reading the dialogue because you can easily spend hours just pouring over it all. I'm sure you'd want to know all the possible stuff you can see at the Dalish camp and what non-dalish players have to hear.

Reading dialogue is supereasy. Making a face in toolset just requires playing around with sliders and getting familiar with controls. When you have questions, just ask in this thread. I learned specifically because people answered questions one at a time in here. You will be fine! =p

Thinking ahead...as long as I never touch a romance trigger, Alistair should be friend zoned right? Or does he still click into interested? i never have figured out how to friend zone him. It's so easy with Leliana and Zevran. But I swear the game assumes you're automatically going to love Alistair.

dangit! ToP..:pinched:
