I've done some extensive changes, so I needed to try to do my own normal map... *sigh...Serissia wrote...

When you colour things, do you change the normal map as well? Or are you using the one from the game? I've been trying to retexture something and I seem to be unable to figure it out why my normal map messes the texture...
Normal maps should be in gray scale. The normal map deals with some of the 3d texture on the piece of armor. Lets say what would be about 3" give or take on an actual piece of armor irl. Anything beyond those 3" is part of the actual skeletal msh of the armor piece.
Generally I don't touch much on the normal map. If I need the texture of a button removed or the like I just use the clone tool in Photoshop to get rid of it. When you working w/ the normal map you have to clone w/e you want out of both the RGB and then switch to the Alpha channel and repeat the process.

Hmm i guess i don't mind it because you get that often enough in real eyes -- the middle part of the iris is frequently brigher creating this effect.Serissia wrote...

Aww they can be pretty ok
(Alistair totally should be doing a D: face here given the context)
I hate the black shadow around the edge of the cornea.
edit: having checked in the mirror i got that myself. Explains why it doesn't register to me as something odd, i suppose, too used to seeing it.

True enough but it's usually at least a shade of the eye color and not a big black ring. Idk, I'm just picky when it comes to eyes it's one of my strange character ocds. I must of made 20 different gray eyes before I settled on the ones I'm using by another modder.

It would be in your module data base unless you've exported it then it will be in the addins/(module name)/override/toolsetexport

Ah, tbh you've lost me at this point. I know you can make normal maps w/ the NVIDIA Photoshop plugin but I haven't the faintest idea how. I toyed w/ it a bit but nothing productive came of it.

I has a black ring as well, when you have good enough light to actually see my eye color.

It's bit tricky. You first prepare your texture in form of "height map" -- the bright shades define bumps and dark shades define dents. Some details are here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heightmap Then the nvidia plugin generates regular normal map from that. Then it needs to be converted to format DA uses, which is done simply by pasting the content of Red channel into the Alpha channel (the normal map in DA only utilizes G and alpha channels, the other two are generally ignored and tend to be just copy of G channel to provide greyscale appearance)Serissia wrote...

That's what I'm trying to do... Using the game's normal map for the item I'm retexturing will result in it having the patterns of the original and I need it to use the my texture's patterns...Serissia wrote...

So I need to paste the red channel into alpha? That might be it... why it is so messed up for me...tmp7704 wrote...

Hmm. I have to say that some of the actors people are picking for
Alistair are a little on the old side. With movies you'd have to much
more consider the physical age and appearance as much as the voice and
personality.
For me, Alistair is best represented by a young British actor like Simon Woods or Hugh Dancy.
For
Morrigan, Kate Beckinsale might work (also British) but I also like
Emily Blunt or even Ellen Page (though she's a bit young... mind you,
it's not as if movies never take liberty with character ages).
For Leliana, Milla Jovovich is nice. Bryce Dallas Howard or perhaps Evan Rachel Wood could also work.
For
Zevran... Antonio Banderas? Seriously? I've seen people suggest him,
but this is clearly based on voice. Physically the man is just too old
and too... big (meybe 10 years ago he would suit, but not now). I would
think Gael Garcia Bernal, myself, or even Alan Cumming (he certainly
can do flamboyant).
For Loghain, I would go with Gary Oldman or even Anthony Hopkins... someone with intensity.
Meh. I know we'll never get to actually have input in such a beast (were it to ever happen), but still it's nice to imagine. ../../../images/forum/emoticons/smile.png
But... Simon Woods?! I like him as an actor, but if he played Alistair... he can't play Alistair. He was perfect as the foppish intellectual in Rome, but he'd have to majorly bulk up to play Alistair and then, maaaaybe.

At this moment my PC is really wondering if that's a side effect of becoming a warden or is Alistair is one something...
Caption anyone?

I think I found my final morph for her, she looks younger then she is suppose to be and that is what I wanted...

Oh, well you should do what you want, natch. I like the darker look, thas all. It's more liquidy and deep to me.yukidama wrote...
Eh. To be frank I don't really care. I made my own realistic eye textures and replaced the eyes of all characters I feel like looking at for more than 2 seconds. Alistair has hazel eyes so I gave him what I considered hazel.
Mostly I like the vanilla eye colors. I do wish the dark green were a bit more... I dunno. It seems very monotone in Idun and I wish she had some gold in there or something.

Heh, I thought that after I added tmp's mod that removes the raccoon circles. Then he opened his mouth... "selling elves to Tevinter is my duty blah blah"... off with his head!

Ah huh, good, good. Selling elves...my current char can add "I am Dalish and I hate you on principal" that will help too.

LOL yeah there is that. In the end I ended up putting the morph on my finished CE Warrior. no point replaying CEF/Zev story when I already have one fully done, and already have geared and ready for the future. Of course she's not moving to Awakening until the patch.
