It's only blasphemy if you listen to him. If you just take screenshots
Not blasphemy. Sad.

RDT!

edit: I know what video I'm making next...
I have around 150 screenshots. It's embarrassing. I'm considering doing the Landsmeet, since the Dark Ritual talk yielded a couple of gems:

LOL No, but I do have a file for, um, writing inspiration. It just doubled in size.
So there's only room for five origins?TotoroTori wrote...

I also didn't like my first draft so I'm rewriting the first chapter

*delurks and waves* Sadly, I have no screenshots to offer for RDT. I got this game back in January, love it, and am on my umpteenth playthrough. I'm really glad I have the PC version so I can get fixes for the endgame bugs. Warning: Wall of text! This is how the end of my first playthrough went (vanilla, DEF, Alistair not king, spoiled for WC ending):
Redcliffe:
Al: King!
PC:Were we at the same Landsmeet? Because I definitely remember NOT making you king.
Me: Crap. I broke my game. How could I have broken my game? I came straight here from the Landsmeet. Anora is queen, isn't she? *checks journal* Yep. So why is he saying this? I'll ask Eamon.
PC: Eamonnn!
Eamon: blah blah, sad that Anora is ruling instead of Alistair
PC: Does anyone else think that Alistair's king?
Sten: No.
Riordan: blah blah archdemon blah blah somone dies
Me: Not spoiling this for myself would have been cool.
PC:![]()
Morrigan: blah blah ritual blah blah Alistair's going to be king blah blah
Me: Yeah, so, not going for the demonspawn. I wonder why Alistair will say.
Al: Can't sleep either, since I'm going to be king! Apparently being king means people come to me with their problems. *babbles about cheese*
Me: I don't understand why this is happening!
PC:Yeah, you're not king. Stop talking and listen as I"m brutally honest with you. *is brutally honest*
Al: does epic lean, goes from "you must be joking" to horrified realization to, as someone else put it, total brain fry, and shrieks about a "dragon...god...whatever"
Me: This game is epic. *reloads"
PC: talk to Morri, tells Alistair she can't do this
Al: *yawns and wanders off*
Me: That's it?
PC: ...Hug?
Denerim
Al: gives speech
Me: *blissfully unaware this is a bug* Yeah! Let's do this! For the Grey Wardens!
Riordan: You should take Alistair.
PC: How could this possibly go wrong? Riordan's going to help us kill it, right? *adds Alistair to archdemon-slaying party*
PC: kicks darkspawn butt all through Denerim, dies multiple times in stupid room with embissarys
Riordan: *cripples archdemon, dies*
PC, Al, Me: Oh, crap.
PC and Al: *take on final boss*
Me: Yeah! This game rules! Ballista to the face, archdemon!
Al: gets last hit on archdemon, epic deathblow animation play
Me: Sweet.
PC: Welp, time to kill this thing.
Al: *stops her* blah blah duty blah blah king blah blah
Me:I'm going to reach through the screen and slap him. You're not king, idiot!
Al: blah blah love blah blah
PC: *refuses to let him do it*
Al: You say that like I'm giving you a choice.
Me: Dawwww. Wait, no! *yells at PC* Shank him! Punch him in the face! Kick him in the kneecap-wait, he's got armor on.
Al: *runs at archdemon*
Me: *still yelling at PC* At least chase him! You're female and an elf and therefore a heck of a lot smaller and faster than he is!
Al: *stabs archdemon*
Me: You're just standing there! Must have explanation for this or head will explode. Uhh, you got stabbed in the leg by a darkspawn and therefore couldn't run him down. There, I feel better. Kind of.
Coronation
Anora: blah blah blah you're the Hero of Ferelden!
PC: I'll go back to the Grey Wardens even though my soul is now filled with black, black despair. Don't. Call. Me. That.
Anora: *smiles*
PC: I hate you.
Me: Surely my party will have something to say about Alistair.
PC: *talks to Leliana*
Lel: *babbles about going to look for Marjoline*
PC: I'm depressed and grieving! Hug me! We're friends!
Me: What. Nothing?
PC: *talks to Zev*
Zev: *offers to come with PC as a mascot*
Me: *is touched* Ah, Zev, you're ridiculously awesome.
PC: *talks to Oghren and Sten*
Me: Ok, I wasn't really expecting anything from you guys anyway.
PC: *talks to Wynne*
Wynne: blah blah Hero of Ferelden! Live heroes are better than dead ones!
PC: *is about 2 seconds away from either screaming or whipping out shank knife*
Me:WHAT?!? How insensitive can you possibly be! Where's my slap Wynne option!?
Wynne: Poor boy.
PC: *breaks down sobbing bitterly* *goes to Awakening and responds to Anders' innocent question about Grey Wardens by bitterly saying they die young and are forgotten, runs off with zombie Alistair at end*
Me: I hate this ending. Never again! I'm leaving his sorry butt at the gates next time.
tldr: The WC ending is great for tragic romance, but lame if you wanted people to actually be sorry about Alistair being dead. And, uh, don't hate me for the text wall.

Welcome, LT! This is how my first game went with Alistair.
PC: Anora is going to be queen. Cool?
Alistair: Phew. Totally cool.
Loghain: You are too awesome. I yield.
Riordan: Wait! We need all the Grey Wardens we can get!
Me: This is true. We can kick his ass later. Did you not see the size of his army at Ostagar? His soldiers might not fight if I kill their general. All-righty, let's do this.
Alistair: F-you, f-you, and f-you! Make me king, gdit! I will cut a bish!
PC: Anora, take over. Alistair, calm down please.
Alistair: Ciao.
Loghain: Well, looks like it's just me without my army.
Me: This is a joke, right? C'mon, where is Alistair? He's coming back later, right?
*takes 5 steps in Denerim*
Me: No, something is seriously wrong.
*reloads*
Loghain: You are still awesome. I yield again.
PC: Alistair, do the honors!
Eamon: Pick someone.
PC: I pick Alistair to be king and I shall rule besides him so he doesn't go anywhere this time.
Alistair: Sorry, they don't like dwarves.
Me: What the f? I am a f-ing princess of Orzammar. Are you kidding me?
Alistair: And I have to break up with you.
PC: Because?
Alistair: You never told me to grow a pair back at Goldanna's. I'll always love you though.
*goes to bed maaaad*
*the next day ... reload*
PC: OK! You! Dead. You! Queen.
Alistair: Phew, I'm so glad things worked out the way they did. Now we can ride off into the sunset.
Morrigan: Uhh ... about that ... yeah, got some bad news for ya ...
Me: I don't give a F at this point. Are we both going to live and have our GD happy ending? OK, ALISTAIR GET YOUR ASS IN HERE.
*coronation*
Alistair: I love you. I'm worried what the ritual is going to cost though.
PC: Not this s*** again.
Me: I am going to kill the writers. If I wanted a sad ending, I'd have rented the Titanic.
David Gaider: Sorry. If you want a happy ending, there's always Zevran and Leliana.
Me: I quit. For all of four days. That'll show ya.

My first playthrough was very sad because I thought Loghain was awesome but I had to kill him if I wanted the throne. Sometimes, sacrifices must be made. And I felt bad about locking Anora up, too, because I also thought SHE was awesome. Subsequent playthroughs just confirmed this except then I could let them live/rule.

Well, the topic was 'first playthrough annoyances' and that was mine. What's so bad about what I wrote? It doesn't bash Alistair in any way, I didn't comment on whether Alistair requiring killing Loghain to be on the throne alone or with you was reasonable, and Alistair is, in fact, mentioned in the post as I couldn't get to the throne except through him. I can like all three characters and usually Alistair is still on the throne despite Anora and Loghain being in the picture.LadyDamodred wrote...

You know, this is the Alistair gush thread. While I am all for juxaposition of character traits against him, debates about him vs other characters and situations, yadda yadda yadda, I must wonder: Why, exactly, would you post this here?
