If they truly intend to improve the combat system then the Toolset probably won't be compatible. To improve combat in DA they'd really need to switch to a different engine.

Let me amend what I said about not posting a lot anymore. Sometimes I like to come in and chat and sometimes I don't. It depends what's going on in the thread atm. I will quite frankly admit that most of the time what's going on interests me very little, and so I don't post. I still read every post, however. if I see something that catches my eye, I respond. Most of the off-topicness doesn't bother me, but sometimes, something just rubs me the wrong way. God forbid I have an opinion or question anything.
Note that I didn't say 'I hate it when LadyDamodred says that she doesn't post anymore because no one's on topic when she could just post an Alistair picture and fix that.'
And I get yelled at for posting opinions all the time. Like that one opinion I had that it was a shame my first playthrough involved screwing over Loghain and Anora because Ithem.
*facepalms into a headdesk* The judges give it 10.0!
All right, let me clarify. I did not yell at you. If I had, believe me, you would have known. I asked a question when I wandered into the Alistair thread on a day when the temps were in the triple digits and saw "Loghain is awesome~!" I try to generally be a fairly pleasant and accomodating person, but I don't always feel pleasant and accomodating. Perhaps had I been in a better mood, I would have said nothing. But I didn't, and what's done is done. I think you overreacted to what I said, like I think you're overreacting now. Not everything is a personal attack and you shouldn't take it as such.

The new setting, characters and possible lis doesn't bother as much as the direction that they're taking the game in as a whole. I didn't like the strange DA/ME hybrid style of Awakening and Leliana's Song. Long story short, if I wanted to play Mass Effect I would play Mass Effect.

I believe they already said it was the same engine, but most likely a massive overhaul of it from a technological level. The engine will likely have support for the latest dynamic lighting models and shader systems, a game engine is a pretty generalized piece of software and I don't see why they couldn't revamp the combat system if they were redesigning the engine itself. However a massive engine overhaul would make the DA toolset useless but since they own the engine (unlike with Mass Effect) they could if they wanted to release another toolset.

Given the many, many times people have told me to stop nitpicking the words people use... 'yell' was just a figure of speech. I could have easily said 'I was asked why I posted something related to the Origin gameplay but only vaguely referenced Alistair.' Loghain can be awesome without Alistiar sucking. I only brought it up because that fit the OT topic and I'm not upset about it so I'm not overreacting. Yesterday I just asked for clarification and was a little upset that you chose to single my post out for the 'why are you posting here?' post when it was in the middle of a non-strictly-on-topic discussion.LadyDamodred wrote...

Honestly, I'm kinda chilled out when it comes to the forums. I go with the flow of the convo. If people are talking about Alistair, I talk about Alistair (if it interests me) but if they are off topic, I will be off topic as well (if I think of a topic that interests me). It just annoys me when people complain about the lack of Alistair but don't do anything about it. They don't talk about Alistair, they just want to watch us talk about it. I'm not a performer, I want to talk to my friends about stuff the interests us, not amuse people who don't want to contribute to the convo.
But I might not be making much sense since I'm not in my right mind at the moment. I'll explain myself better later:lol:

A story focusing on Duncan and Alistair as a dlc might actually be fairly interesting. To be fair a story focusing on Flemeth and Morrigan would also be fairly interesting. I don't think Morrigan's or Alistair's childhood/teens would be particularly interesting on their own.

I agree with you wholeheartedly Seri. I want DA to be DA, not ME. However, I think its craziness the amount of people that have serious rage over a small press release. I don't think we have enough inofrmation to really pass any judgement yet. Yes, it does stink that we are stuck with playing human Hawke. But I am willing to give BW the benefit of the doubt until I ahve more information or can experience the game for myself.
The being said, it the PC has a VO, I will be the first to throw myself off a tall building.

Eh, there's lot enough of people who like the combat in DA as it is. And i doubt you can get much of ideas how it should be "improved" on the same page, in the sense everyone's idea what to change is likely going to be different.Serissia wrote...

If they truly intend to improve the combat system then the Toolset probably won't be compatible. To improve combat in DA they'd really need to switch to a different engine.
Add to that changing the combat mechanics doesn't really have much to do with game models and character appearances etc, so changing one doesn't really require messing with the other. Most of the combat-related stuff is in excel tables and scripts anyway.

If they give us some better CC options and stay away from making NPCs that look like Adaia (honestly wtf?) I won't mind losing the TS so much personally. Oh and more armor options... they really cheaped out on the light armor.adneate wrote...
