Ahh; i didn't read that but hmm, i wouldn't expect any really drastic changes in this area, no matter how much hype they're making about it. I mean, the current system isn't action rpg and it didn't prevent the game from becoming their best selling title ever, outdoing ME, KotOR and others (they stated that yesterday) While their only so far attempt to make action rpg (Jade Empire) did pretty poorly. So with this in mind it doesn't even make financial sense to mess with the successful formula too much.
I suspect if anything, the Darkspawn Chronicles thing was their test bed for whatever changes they have planned for combat, much like Leliana's DLC was test of the fully voiced protagonist/conversation system.
That pretty much sums up how I feel in general. I just don't understand why they would detour from a sucessful formula and established player base just to try something new.
I didn't like the changes they made from Origins to Awakening. I didn't like the changes from Origins to Leliana's Song. Tbh, I didn't even notice anything different about the combat in Darkspawn Chronicles. I really don't care about combat though personally. I care about dialog and replay value. The reason Origins has held my interest this long is that it has an amazing replay value. I played Awakening, Darkspawn Chronicles and Leliana's Song once. That's my imo 2¢ for what it's worth.
