Unite the Free Marches, conquer Nevarra and Antiva and crown yourself as Super Emperor of Awesometopia.

Edit: I think there will be some kind of main antagonist though *points to white haired chick on cover*

I think Herr's idea plausible. Still doesn't explain how the unification of the Free Marches ought to be considered the most important event in the Dragon Age, when a Warden managed to unify Ferelden in a year and swiftly defeat the Blight almost single handedely with a hastly assembled small coalition in such an unprecedented way.

But we'll have to wait and see I guess.

The Free Marches seem like they have the potential to be quite powerful if united for once and so if Hawke does become their Calenhad and the nation goes on to be a powerhouse that could explain why it's so important.

I never read anywhere about the supposed potential of the Free Marches. I don't doubt that they could become a strong nation, but for it to be considered so important that the unprecendented defeat of a blight in only a year is considered second place? Doubtful.

Plus I am of the opinion that Ferelden has a very large potential as well, if human history is to be taken as reference.

And according to this:
http://dragonage.wik...he_Free_Marches

Neverra was once part of the Free MArches. It is possible that Hawke will conquer it.
Still doesn't make him the most important man in Thedas, but important enough no doubt.

Well, the potential for the Free Marches doesn't have to be clear at the time but should it ever in the future become the dominant nation in Thedas THEN he'll be looked back on insanely important.

Well if the game is not about a blight... but those screenshots show Hawke fighting darkspawn... maybe the Architect managed to set off his ghoul-nuke? Or maybe the darkspawn are coming to the surface for the OGB. Unprecedented darkspawn on the surface without an archdemon to defeat!

.. it's not *technically* a blight...

Because Ferelden will start getting colonies all over the place?

I see The Free Marches as Germany when divided, Nevarra being part of it.

I do think that something else will happen, that changes the world forever though, which will affect him/her importance, other than The Free Marches uniting. And I don't think that the last blight counts as "Changing the world forever".

Nevarra was once a Free Marches city, then became a dominant power in Thedas, one that rivals Orlais currently. ( and has beaten them in war recently )

Imagine unifying all those City States under one banner....it would surely lead to the Free marches becoming the strongest Kingdom in Thedas. Fereldan has potential for power, but it would still need to rebuild
after half the country had been ravaged by the Darkspawn ( Anora mentions the Darkspawn run rampart across half of Fereldan ).

I think Nevarra is to the unified Free Marches what the Austro-Hungarian Empire was to the German Empire.

It is scary when you think what the 2nd and 3rd Reich did in less then 100 years from the formation of the 2nd Reich.

I prefer to be the star of a story of *my* characters and not a movie with a preset personality, but to each his own I guess.

To be clear, I don't think DA2 will be a bad game. It probably will be great and I am 90% sure I'll buy it unless Bioware realy manages to **** it up epicly. However from what I know now (little but major), I am dissapointed in so far that DA2 does not seek to expand on the foundations of its Origins (pardon the pun), but instead seek to mutt itself with Mass effect. To one who thinks DA:O is twice as good as ME, that's a bad thing hapening.

I agree with you KoP. I think DA2 probably will be a good game. It's just disappointing that the main feature that drew me to the franchise and kept me involved and convinced me to keep returning to the game, is being abandoned.

I'm certain it will be, according to general opinion. But I had no desire to play Mass Effect 2 and I didn't even finish Mass Effect 1. I just wasn't interested. This may well be the same. If it strikes me the same way those did, or even as Awakening did, I won't buy it. The only reason I'm not sorry I bought Awakening is that I have all those new things to add to my toolkit. ;)

On another note, I really don't see how anything can be more important than defeating the blight. Unless the goes to the Black City, does some housekeeping, and convinces the Maker to come home, you really can't top that.

I just had a thought. Remember in Awakenings how Wynne had ditched Shale because she had to go to the Mages conference or whatever that sounded really important in Cumberland? Guess where that is? Just on the other side of the Planasene Forest from Kirkwall. Coincidence? I think not.

If the game starts in Lothering, and can push for 10 years that means some Cameos are very possible. Seeing a drunk Alistair, Shale going to tevinter, or sten on his way home would be amazing.

Its about the Circle leaving the Chantry. If its your boon you get more dialouge.

It's going to come up in DA2 then. Maybe you're even involved.

Edit: What extra dialogue?

And I'm not sure what the point of the conference was. Since when did the various Circles ALLOW the Chantry to rule over them?

I think Wynne and Anders refer to it, and you if it was your boon. But that was a long time ago. In a galaxy far far away. Sorry I couldnt resist.

Even my PCs who aren't going to romance him go a bit wobbly kneed at his handsomeness in the Lothering Chantry. The lighting there is kind.

It's almost too hot to stay in the house.... Gonna have to go sit on the porch. Hardly anyone up here has airconditioning. ;)

I love Alistair, he leans his head a lot. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. He's like a puppy -skritches Alistair's tummy-

After living in a house with no airconditioning, I almost hate going out of my airconditioned apartment. I have to threaten my in-laws to stay out of my house, since they don't have airconditioning either. My family is used to having airconditioning because most of them have high blood pressure. Getting too hot could literally kill them:lol:

...errr...I mean....:(

:P
