I think it would be nice if we'll get to hear that the hero of Ferelden passed through the Free Marches and based on your save, get to find out some additional details about where s/he's headed. It's very little, but I think it will mean a lot.
I hope we get to know how our character suppossedely disapeared and why. But I doubt it'll happen. Or maybe that's just me trying not to hope a lot.
And I hope that should they say something, that it wouldn't make it worse.

Then how will they explain the "mysteriously dissapeared one day"? Will it be ignored like it should?
I had assumed that the line either meant that the Warden was called to heretofore unexplained srsbsns (leaving things open for a sequel), or that nothing really important happened in the world in the following years, and the Warden eventually went to their Calling. It was a good enough ending for me, until it was announced that DA2, the most important story of the Dragon Age, takes place immediately after Origins. I hope they explain why my Warden wouldn't be there, but they didn't explain why any of my friends didn't follow me to Awakening and I just had to fill that in myself.

See, I'm hoping that there's more for our Warden beyond Hawke's Decade o' Awesomeness. Maybe the Warden keeps a low profile for a few years while Hawke changes the world and then the Warden needs to be called in to help clean up a mess. Or something.
What I'm actually hoping for is DLC or an expansion that lets us finish up our DA stories sooner rather than later, but I'm feeling epic this morning.

It couldn't be the calling, as it happened a few years after the Amaranthine crisis and the Warden is too young for that. Not to mention the explicit hints of a return.
@ Surely.
Well they better have a good reason why my PC who is happily ruling Ferelden with his wife suddenly decided to keep a low profile.

Have an epic Duncan then!

I'm almost certain they're not going to leave things where they are - the Leliana's Song interview indicated they had more DLC that delved into character history AS WELL AS DLC that furthered our Wardens' story. So I am going to remain optimistic that we have not seen the last of our Wardens yet.

Maybe Ferelden is dealing with its own issues and the king/queen are occupied with that and they don't get involved with Hawke's Awesome Awesomeness (Of Awesome). I am profoundly uncreative.
Or they won't give any reason. I mean, if they can tear Warden Alistair away from his beloved for no reason during Awakening, they wouldn't have any compunctions with making the Warden MIA during the events of DA2.

I am not sure tha misteriously dissapearing allows Monarchs to deal with Ferelden's issues.
I don't mind my PC not doing much during DA2 (except in the beginning, when he is saving the world). I am happy to RP him just playing politics and slowly developping and improving Ferelden with Queen Anora (in fact, I have a detailed plan of what ought to be done). What bothers me is the sudden disapearance which is almost kidnap like.
But maybe I am speaking too soon and that they do have a reason. I just pray they will do something with it soon and not leave it hanging, otherwise I'll just ignore it and go with my version of the story.

Ah, I see what you mean. Well, maybe the disappearance coincides with the end of Hawke's story? Time is so iffy in the DA universe, I wouldn't put it past developers.

Dev 1: How can we really make DA3 a unique experience and the first of its kind?
Dev 2: I know!! Both The Warden and Hawke are PCs....simultaneously!!
Dev 1: Wouldn't the player need, like, 4 hands?
Dev 2: I know! Its crazy and innovative!!!!

I hope you don't mean me? I would never impugn anyone just for liking, or wanting to like, or thinking you might like the new game. But there really are some sycophants in the DA2 forum. I don't mean people who are saying "hey this sounds great," but there are people who literally jump in after everything David Gaider posts and says "oh you're so brilliant, David," ad nauseum.yukidama wrote...
Really? For me it's tearing apart because I don't happen to agree with either the brown-nosers OR the doomsayers. So I get called a whiner or a sycophant. It's really making this place suck, honestly.
I wish I felt more enthusiasm or that my disappointment didn't make me not want to play Origins any more, but like Serissia, it feels like "what's the point." It is also appalling to read the developers' opinion of their own game. It makes me feel like an idiot for liking it.

This does bother me. One of my concerns with the quick turnover from DAO to DAA and now DA2 is that these things are being developed per what the developers like and what they assumed we would like. Even though I enjoyed the hell out of Awakening, I can admit that it lacked so much of what I loved about Origins and what most the people on this board seemed to latch onto.
So they can say "we know DAO was a huge hit and promise that DA2 will be even better!" but I get the sense that what they find awesome about their game is not what I find awesome about their game at all (because, so far, I have seen no DW NBA in the promotional materials
Still, unless they manage to f*ck up absolutely everything they have going for themselves, I can't imagine that DA2 will be a bad game.

With any luck, it will be like Diablo II - sure there were lots of changes from the first game, which was a huge hit, but the instant I played it, I knew that most of the changes they had made were for the better, and I loved it.
I do have some concerns - I don't like the idea of the voiced player, like most. But I'm willing to give it at least a look, and wait until we have more solid info before I decide whether or not to get it. *shrugs*
I need to get some NBA shots (I do have the helmet now) but in the mean time, Alistair hopes you all won't forget about him!

Yes it is depressing when you have to explain why you love Origins so much to thsoe who made it.
But *for now*, I see most of what they say as hype. We still know little to judge properly, even if the general trend is not taht optimsitic for me.

The biggest slap in the face is not only loose plot ends, but stupid loose plot ends like having our character disapear, while simultaneously hinting at a return. It's annoying. If Bioware knew it wasn't going to continue the story of the Warden, then it would have been better if it remained quiet and just said that the Warden moved on, like going back to court if Consort. Hopefully Bioware still intends to continue the story, but I doubt that.
This is me, right there. All the Awakening slides did was introduce more confusions and questions that become very irritating if they never intended to answer them. From the tidbits we've gotten, I feel slightly better about the VO thing, if we can at least choose how we want things said. We shall see. I'd love to get a glimpse of how exactly it's going to handled, as it is such a huge departure from DAO.
As for me, I will finish up my canon games, albeit at a slower pace. I have hope we can import a saved world state, though I hoped for the same thing in Awakening and look where that got me. *grumbles*

Agreed. I can easily RP what my canons are doing during that time. I just want some official closure.

I went to a happy place where I imagined a game focused entirely on a naked barbarian Alistair, no idea what it would be about but I get the feeling I wouldn't care too much.
Not naked here I'm afraid, but still nice.
