No matter what I do, the fight ensues and then that chantry lady calls it off and makes us duel.
Now, I never really TRIED to no trigger it. By that point in the game I'm always in such a rush just to get to the landsmeet. So I run around to get the support of all the banns real quick, and always end up missing one.

Hmm, that's weird, I've never triggered the fight myself. On my first run I didn't know about the Banns, and I didn't search the rest of Howe's Dungeon, because I wanted to get to the end (I was getting game fatigue after going through Orzammar and the Dalish Camp-_-). But I had max coercion, so I guess I was persuasive enough to just barely win:P

I've only done 3 full ones, all on xbox. I'm currently doing my fourth on PC, which is basically a redo of my HNF on xbox. I also watched hubby do a DNM on xbox if you want to count that too

I've only done 3 as well, though I've made a million bajillion characters. I've gotten a lot of them near the Landsmeet but I sometimes abandon them after that, especially if I'm not interested in the character.

I made a couple of other characters but couldn't face going through the beginning with them. I'm now back in Orzammer for a proper attempt at finishing it and becoming Queen. Then I'll have a 2nd go at Awakenings (with Alistair as King this time).
That's if I don't get bored and buy Leliana's Song first.

Technically I've only beaten the game with four characters but I've had diverence points with them (my first playthrough had a romance Alistair and a romance Zevran file, my second had a side with Bhelen and side with Harrowmont file - and I did Orzamar first! - and so on) and redone the game from the Landsmeet on more times than I can count, plus replaying just the Origins because they really are my favorite parts.
