I have to use some sort of night vision apparatus in Oblivion, otherwise I'm just flailing in darkness for hours on end and that's no fun at all. Of course, the night vision stuff gives me a headache after awhile, so that curbs my playing quite a bit.

You use the spell o' purple goggles??  That freaks me out.  It's like gaming on LSD (or what I imagine that would be like).  I do usually try to get that Ring of Khajiiti thing asap, that gives you Detect Life if I recall it correctly.

I have to admit that, for me (and I'm someone who gets very motion sick playing most video games) DAO has probably been the best rpg game I've played for not triggering headaches, nausea or weird synesthesia issues.

Right?  Whatever they did, that's a good thing.

lol Nice cover...   ;)

I usually try to get Fin Gleam very early on or a ring with night vision. It turns everything blueish. It sucks to stumble out of a cave or ruin into full on sunlight with it still on because bright

Detect life doesn't do it for me because I still miss crates and chests. My eyes suck at discerning dark shapes against dark backgrounds, and Oblivion and FO3 are terrible about everything being way too dark.

Heh.  I've limited the strength of mind-altering substances I've consumed to Scottish whiskey.

They just tweeted that out, and I'm very much enjoying it.  But then again, I'm way into lore.  :P

I can't really seem to muster up much disappointment. Maybe it is because I pretty much knew they were headed in this direction (doesn't take much getting from point Awakening to point Leliana's Song to point DA2), it's a lot easier to digest. I'm just looking at the good things (mage finishing moves!) and perhaps I am being strangely optimistic and think they can pull it off. Nothing so far has been a dealbreaker for me, personally...

I was actually just reading that. It is really interesting.

Well I never really expected our warden story to continue so maybe thats why Im being carefully optimistic. There are things I do not really like (VO, dialogue wheel)  but if done well I can get over them I hope. So I am more 'in between'. I do hope the graphics will get better tho Posted Image

I think Gaider or someone already said the graphics are looking a lot better than the shots they've released.

I don't even mind the dialogue wheel that much, the voiced PC is a wait-and-see (or rather, hear) situation for me.

I used to play it a lot when it first came out, but when I went back to it, it was awful. I can't get passed the first level.

I loaned my brother a copy and he mailed it back to me (despite seeing me on a regular basis) with post-it notes on the outside of the box, the inside of the box and on the disc that said "I hate you and your stupid game. And now I hate Patrick Stewart, too."

So no. Not the only one.

I know the article was mostly focused on Kirkwall but...they mentioned the elves a lot, the qunari a few times...I don't think the word 'dwarf' even came up. That is a bad sign for seeing some in the game... Posted Image

This. I'm kind of looking forward to it (as much as one can look forward to a sequel to a game they don't play anymore lol). And I don't really see why people are freaking out over it. Sure, some of the choices that Bioware has made aren't the best, but it's Bioware for christ's sake. They made KotOR, and I have faith that they will make another great game like DA.

I'm pretty sure that is mostly because they stay in Orzammar. In fact, they become castless when they leave, so they have incentive to stay in Orzammar:P

It is written by human "historians". So they wouldn't care about the dwarves overly much as they have a marginalized impact on global events after the first blight.

395 Ancient Times:  In secret, a group of the most powerful Magisters of the Imperium opened a gate into the heavenly Golden City, seat of the Maker and birthplace of all creation. They were cursed for their trespass, cast violently back into the world as corrupted, horrific monsters – the first of the darkspawn. The Archdemon Dumat arose and the First Blight began, starting a terrible war that destroyed the dwarven kingdoms and almost annihilated humanity. Only the creation of the Grey Wardens saved the lands, as those desperate heroes finally pushed back the darkspawn after a century of warfare. The Tevinter Imperium was left weak, but humanity was triumphant.

I'm way naive.  After all the DLCs, I kept thinking "eventually they're going to get back to sanity," thinking it was just the DLC teams screwing things up.

Alas no.  Posted Image

Okay so they did have a single mention of something not even remotely related to Kirkwall and what will happen with DA2. That's still not a good sign.

At least there's been a dwarf in the promotional images.  The narrator of the story is a dwarf.  I haven't seen a single mention or image of an elf anywhere.

I'm sick of talking about my angst, but in the interest of answering your question, I hated Mass Effect mainly for the voiced PC.  So what's my other example of a Bioware voiced protagonist?  Leliana's Song, with a protagonist whose voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me.  Not having played any other Bioware games and having been disappointed with the direction the franchise went in the DLCs, I feel like I have enough grounds to say "do not want."

Well, to be fair, this is basically a history of the surface of Thedas. I wouldn't expect to see much about the dwarves. I'm sure a history of the dwarven kindgoms doesn't talk about humans or elves or qunari very much.

Hawke's sister is a mage!  Um, PC Hawke, because if she's PC's sister then she's a Hawke too.  Yeah....

True, though I think you'd like KotOR and Jade Empire, since they don't have voiced PCs either. And I don't really mind the voiced PCs, as long as Meer (Male Shepard's voice actor) has nothing to do with it.
