Heh, keep this up, and we're all going to fall for your brother.... ;)

I know, right?!! And 48% more awesome than Surely?!?? We all want to meet him now. And who is this Andy that Sandi mentioned, does he like Alistair & cats too? :P

lol Andy hates cats but loves dogs.  Cats like to claw him.  :P  He likes Alistair but prefers Zevran (he has a very Zevran sense of humor....) but he's apparently already claimed himself as my future husband, so....  ;)

Dang! All the good ones are either taken, or pixels!

edit: hmmm, is SV taken yet? Maybe I'll go introduce myself :D He has to like video games at least a little, after voicing Alistair, right??!

He's engaged.  Second marriage, I believe.  He occasionally tweets about wedding plans.

lol, point proven, good ones are either taken or pixels.

I knew he was married or divorced before. My sister worked with him on Crossing Jordan when he was either getting divorced or recently divorced. She said he wasn't smarmy at all, like guys getting divorced usually are. SV for the win!

This. I'm kind of looking forward to it (as much as one can look forward to a sequel to a game they don't play anymore lol). And I don't really see why people are freaking out over it. Sure, some of the choices that Bioware has made aren't the best, but it's Bioware for christ's sake. They made KotOR, and I have faith that they will make another great game like DA.

I'm sick of talking about my angst, but in the interest of answering your question, I hated Mass Effect mainly for the voiced PC.  So what's my other example of a Bioware voiced protagonist?  Leliana's Song, with a protagonist whose voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me.  Not having played any other Bioware games and having been disappointed with the direction the franchise went in the DLCs, I feel like I have enough grounds to say "do not want."

True, though I think you'd like KotOR and Jade Empire, since they don't have voiced PCs either. And I don't really mind the voiced PCs, as long as Meer (Male Shepard's voice actor) has nothing to do with it.

I see a lot of hate for Meer, but femShep is grody!!!  I got the furthest along in Mass Effect with a male Shepard.  I'm pretty sure that if I ever play DA2, I'll only be able to play a male Hawke, too.  If my PC is going to already be so separate from me, somehow it's better to be playing a male since I can't identify with him as much anyway.

Thing is, if you have a voiced protagonist playing a character where there is some freedom for the player to control the character, the VA almost has to deliver lines in a very neutral, bland fashion.

--> Goodbye to the charm of DA romances.  <_<

He does seem genuinely charming.  And I would never see him on the street and think "hot guy," but now when I see a picture of him, I'm programmed to think: Sexiest Man Alive.

I know, right? His voice is wonderful. And I love his tweets, he's funny! (I just added him the other day). I always liked him on Crossing Jordan, but I didn't *like* him. Now... he's hot!

But I've never been really looks-based in the guy dept, it's really the entire package that makes them attractive or not. A good looking guy can be incredibly unattractive if he's a jerk, I can't even see that he looks good anymore.

He actually prefers dogs. He just travels a lot for work and because his best friend is stationed in Texas, so he'd feel really guilty owning them and his neighbor, who would be happy to cat sit, is terrified of them.

And I wonder if he'd be horrified or amused that I am totally pimping him on a video game forum. Probably a mixture of both, tbh.

lol Maybe you should tell him to visit me if he's ever in Texas  :P

But honestly, as long as a guy can deal with cats I'm okay with that.  I like dogs too, and I wish I could have one.  But a lab rat's life is no life for a dog - until recently I was gone 12 hours a day almost every day of the week, and can you imagine the poor neurotic dog that I would own?

I love cats, and they don't mind my life. So cats it is until I can get a dog.  lol Or until I can marry someone who will take care of the dog while I just play with it.    That would be my ideal!

Me too, definitely.  I think it's also why I don't squee over incidental DA guys like Teagan.  You interact too little with them for them to mean much.  Pour moi.

Since we're on the topic of SV, he tweeted a couple hours ago that he's developing a vampire movie. That sounds so awesome! And I do find him sexy as hell.

For me, the lack of screentime (while annoying because they're so awesome that they deserve more lines!Posted Image) is part of the appeal. You don't know as much about them and so you can have more freedom in how you see the character without it needing to be OOC. Plus, you've never met any of your companions prior to the game started but if you're going to go for an Origin companion (Cullen, Gilmore, Leske, Tamlen, GorimPosted Image) then you can also have a history with them that isn't spelled at for you so, again, more RP freedom which is far more important to me than knowing every little thing about a character.

Interesting.

So... I guess the chances of Alistair making a cameo in DA2 just got a bit slimmer.

I like Teagan because he's one of the only people in the game whose motivations are 100% pure. He just wants to protect Redcliffe, and he wants to save his brother and his family and he's genuinely grateful for whatever help you can offer.

And the toolset backs this up completely. His description might as well be "is good and awesome and just wants to do the right thing."

Well, better he be off with my Warden and not show up in DA2, than continuing his story without her... like some people.

That's so funny -- it's actually Teagan's personality in the game that makes me squee over him. I know we don't get much, and if there is definitely potential for him to turn out to be a jerk (like anyone). But in the game what we do see of him makes him attractive. If he was just some guy, I wouldn't think so (with the nose & hairstyle & all). It's the way he charges into the landsmeet, and then stays with the villagers, and tries to do right while at the same time being a fun & flirtacious guy that makes me swoony :D I get a definite sense of his personality. But, that's for me! It wouldn't be good if everyone liked the same character, we need variety!!

Oh, I like him, no doubt.  Just saying I don't swoon over him.  I liked him from the first scene where he's so polite and yet tells Loghain and Anora in no uncertain terms to kiss his Guerrin ass.
