So any theories as to what you are going to name female Hawke? I am at a loss.

I have been stressing over this for weeks.  I always name my canon VG characters Melania.  But since Hawke is going to run paralll to my warden, I'm afraid if I name her Melania then Thedas will implode or something.  I hate picking names!!!

Lol no Thedas imploding! Melania Hawke isn't bad though.

All I know about my naming plans is that under no circumstances will I stick to the default name no matter how nice it may be.

I only stick to defaults with my male characters.

Hey, what's wrong with Elissa? My name is only a letter away from that :crying:

I hate it when Alyssa is spelled Elissa. It's just one of those things that drive me crazy and with all the fanfics that use default names...Posted Image

There's nothing wrong with it, I just don't like it.

Edit: It also drives me crazy when people spell Sarah Sara. It's perfectly valid but...well, pet peeves are rarely rational, right?

Well, I think Elissa is a name in it's own right separate from Alyssa. But I get you. My name is Melissa and I want to choke people who spell it Mellissa, or Melisa, or Melysa, etc... the double l's ****** me off the most.

The only people who share my name (Pamela) are usually like 30 years older than I am....

I wish I had a less common name. Not so uncommon that I'd have to explain how to pronounce it, mind you, but I can never go anywhere without meeting another Sarah and being called 'Sarah S' all the time makes me feel like I'm in elementary school and 'redheaded Sarah' isn't much better.

I have a French name, and with French being quite unpopular nowadays, my name gets mispronounced all the time.

Does any of you know guys named Alistair? Isn't it weird?

True story- in a Race and Ethnicity class in college there were four other girls with my name. They were all called SurelyForth LastName. I was White SurelyForth.

Seriously. I even offered, like, five alternatives since I don't really go by my name.

I think I'm going to name my first Lady Hawke "White".

so....I just had a thought about how they could bring Alistair back, bear with me, it's ludicrous and serves no purpose at all other than me releasing nonsense from my brain.
You know how we have um...is it six, origins to choose from? and they all have their different stories as to how we end up at Ostagar. Well.... maybe there could be a similar origins for Alistair regardless of the previously made choices, where we discovered why he wasn't king/drunk/ there in awakenings then after the inital origin he could join us on our adventures which would be the main campaign.

If they do a Leliana's Song type DLC for all the companions, I do think it would be cool to see a pre-Ostagar Warden Alistair.  For one thing, it would likely mean more Duncan, which would be excellent.  Maybe we would see other Grey Wardens, the guys that ended up biting it at Ostagar but that we never got to meet except for briefly in the DN origin.  When you meet him, Alistair says he was in one battle where he had fought darkspawn.  Sooo... let's see it!!!

I'm not getting my hopes up.

There were always tons of other Stephs around, so I was always Blonde Steph, or once I was Big Steph at the bar I used to work at. I hated that...I used to yell at everyone there "Guys, come on. I'm tall, yes. But big? I'm hardly "big". Let's not give me a complex, mmmkay?"

Not many people named Gina, so when I do get around another one, it's always a disconcerting thing.  One summer I worked with a married couple and the woman had my name.  I'd overhear her husband say, "Gina, sweetie..."  and have a momentary  Posted Image until my brain caught up and realized he was talking to his wife and not me.

Oh, and as for Alistair... I think it's pretty much an old-fashioned name now?  I only know Alistairs from literature, never heard anyone actually with that name.  Funny that it's a form of Alexander and Alexander is probably more common even in the UK.

While I am disappointed about a lot of things I've heard, I'm holding out judgement until they release more info. I certainly hope it's worth buying! But I've heard the The Elder Scrolls 5 will be out around the same time, so I will be torn.

Really??  I was asking the marital unit about TES V but he hadn't heard anything.  Yay!  That could ease the pain of the DA2 changes.

I really am a sad panda about the voiced PC.  That's the main thing that is going to kill it for me, regardless of how well it's done.  But I do want to like the new game.

i've only met 2 other people in my life with my name its that unusual (I hate it). People always mispronounce it, rarely spell it right because it has several different variations that all sound the same. Plus I am named after my old man which means its not very feminine either.

Nah, it won't. If it's going to be out in 2011, it's going to be released at the end of the year, and they still have to announce it first.

DA2 has the same team as DA:O, so the chances are, that even with the changes, it's going to be a good game.

Alyssa seems much less usual  to me than Elissa, maybe it's a geographical thing.  Elissa i think is a variant of Elisa or Eliza and Alyssa from Alicia/ Alice. so yeah, it's not the same name with different spellings.

Not that it matters really.

My name's not that common and people have a habit of putting an 'h' in it where there isn't one.  That annoys me.  As does the Sara pronounced Sarah thing.

@ laradenton , I know two Alisdairs, and I think I have a second cousin ( or some other kind of relative that I never quite worked out who the hell they were) called Alistair, but it could be with a 'd' as well.

All these words look odd to me now. I need sleep.

Edit: a) really? ten minutes have passed since I wrote this, wierd, b)anyway... I think Alistair is a geographical thing as well, It's not at all an uncommon name in my mind. I can think of at least three 'famous' british Alistairs without spending a ot of time of it, plus random people that I know of  and the three I actually know.( if you count the d variation)

Mine is so easy to spell but people seem to want to complicate it.  Usually I'm Jeannie, but even when they try to spell Gina, it comes out Jeanna or some crazy thing.

I almost had a heart attack, in a good way, when I heard an Italian say my name.  It was so sexy that I'd have tackled him, except, well, he was a priest.  This was prior to being married, you understand.  Posted Image

I saw someone say TES5 at the end of this year, but I highly doubt it. I read on wiki that it will take place in the Summerset Isle.

The voiced PC bothers me. I personally don't like mass effect and feel like they are trying to make Dragon Mass Age Effect. We shall see.
