Oh that's simple enough. Go to your C:\\\\Program Files\\\\Steam\\\\steamapps\\\\common\\\\dragon age origins\\\\\\\\bin_ship folder (or wherever you have Steam installed) and look for the DAOriginsConfig.exe file. Open it, go to the "game" section and there you can you verify which version of the game you have. It should be DAOrigins.exe: 1.04.

Anyway....that TV tropes thing? Scared me. Although I suspect that may have been the large banner ad for a particular religion that did that.  After that I kind of ran away.  One day when I have loads of time I'll look at it and I'm sure it'll be hilarious. That sounds like I'm being sarcastic, I'm not trying to be. Curse you medium of text!

Edit:  have now said both 'mary' and 'gary' aloud to myself several times, because they really don't rhyme when I say them, must be an accent thing. It took me a while to realise what was funny about Mike Hawke as well.  Although now that I have  I can't undo it and every time I see it in a sentence, well, my brain giggles like a schoolgirl.

Why wasn't Riordan on the roof? If I remember rightly ( total possibility I don't) he says that he'll take a different route because the archdemon would be able to sense three wardens. approaching together.  So if there was only two wardens would he not have have attempted to go the same way as Alistair instead of jumping onto the back of a dragon from a massive tower? ( really Riordan, you think that was wise? no wonder Howe captured you.)

Here's some Alistair so that if you have suffered the pain of reading my mind rambles it wasn't a complete waste of your time.

I took that tower as being part of the fort, and that the archdemon falls to the roof where they fight it after being injured by Riordan.

Aww.  That's where the forums are nice.  I knew ahead of time that that was all she wrote.  I also was able to come in and find out I had chosen the neutral/ bland options and that there were warmer ones I had passed over.  Still looking for the option that triggers the quickie in the guard shack, but pretty sure at this point that it doesn't exist.  And not even the modders can add it 'cuz for no toolset!

And... oh Maker, I just had this image of Rylock peeking in on you and it kills the mood completely.

I had a similar experience. I went through the whole game going "Are they *ever* going to explain why Warden!Alistair isn't here?" But they didn't. And I am left to fill in the blanks.

Ah, the tower being part of the fort would make much more sense.  I got the archdemon landing after being injured thing, but I always thought Riordan had randomly scaled a tower and thought he'd be all heroic. poor splattered Riordan, he tried to do a good thing.

Yep, he was trying to ground it so they could kill it.

Okay, it's kind of ridiculous if you're going to claim that the entire order is an order of Mary Sues. People really do overuse the term.

No, I really think they're just..you know, powerful. I'm saying if it's mary sueish to do one of these things, then jesus, look at the whole order! But personally? I wrote an alternate universe fic where one warden made it through the unsecured gates and to the marketplace without dying and killing tons of darkspawn and I don't even consider that mary sueish- it's what they're MADE for, it's why they drink the blood and why so many people die. In my defense she's level 23-24 at that point, that's like picking off enemies on easy. But really, I don't think they're mary sues, rather I was trying to make a point. In fact, I think the whole point is they made a horrible sacrifice and it gave them a necessary and good power that, while definitely not enough to kill an archdemon or rampage a city of darkspawn with no army...is ...er..powerful.

Perhaps. I don't know why they decided that King Alistair was the only Alistair option worth mentioning in Awakening. Except that maybe whatever caused the Alistair dialog bugs, the ones that our mods fix, somehow contribute to the flags not being carried over very well into Awakening, either.

No! Because I've written so much, and drawn even more (looks to sketchbooks and about 60,000 words of unpublished fanfics) and played 8 times all the way through. I'm crazy but I don't do anything worth while, like you guys. I really should suck it up and post Alistair fanart

I'm fairly certain I'm crazy as well and I definitely don't do anything worthwhile. 
I had 26 half written versions of the same thing on my computer. I don't even know how many words were in there. I can't draw or paint at all though, so mercifully the world is saved from any artistic inclinations I may have.

I feel you dude. DA is so easy to write for but NOT. The main character is my creation and if I screw it up *everyone will think of them in a way they are not* must...be perfect.... My art though is...I practice all my anatomy for men as Alistair, basically. So I have like 10 pages of shirtless Alistair's that I ponder CGing sometimes xD

I'm kind of glad my first (and so far only) Awakening playthrough was with my Dalish who had the WC ending. At least I wasn't spending the entire game wondering where he was. :-( Although the epilogue card totally killed it when she ran off with Zombie Alistair.
