That's interesting to know about that naming custom and it would be one way to take it. One of my thoughts, too, was that naming the baby might make it that much harder for Fiona to give up. But I think, at that point, it's all pretty impossible. Hmmm.
It also seems to fit the fact that Alistair emphasizes "it looks very old" and that it's unusual. Since Maric was hoping to keep the lid on his paternity, it would have been risky to give Alistair a Calenhad family heirloom, but it sounds to me like something he might do.The notion of the amulet belonging to Moira is a good one, especially since I can see that giving Eamon even more of a reason to preserve it, if it belonged to a Theirin.

And it was probably common enough at some point. Even though it's age is unusual, it existing in the first place isn't. It would be like my great-great-grandmother's rosary- it's distinctive now because it's antique but the rest of its meaning is entirely personal. The amulet would be the perfect thing for Maric to give him.

Wow. . .that was certainly more impressive than my High Dragon kill. I could barely see what was happening in mine because the camera was too close up. Just a very tight shot of about chest-level Dragon with head, neck, blood and Warden whipping in and out of the frame. This is pretty sweet right here. Maybe I should let Alistair have the Dragon next time. . .
Looks like he's using my Warden's sword too! Is that the Starfang?
Well, you can zoom out, which is what I had to do a bit. And yes, that's Starfang. He usually get Duncan's sword, but my CEF Bree kept Duncan's sword/dagger for herself.
I can't zoom out, I'm playing on the PS3 (I should get a scarlet "DA:O/PS3" tattoo on my forehead).
I am loving the Starfang. I know that technically I should not be using it as I am a duel-wielding Dwarf rogue and therefore should be sticking to knives or bows, but what the hell. I'm devastating with the Starfang and Duncan's dagger and a whole bunch of paralyze, slow and +darkspawn damage runes. Of course, the Starfang is about as long as my Warden is tall and stabs her in the Achilles tendon every time she runs around, but it's worth it. And if I had been using the Starfang when I killed the High Dragon, I may have gotten a wider shot to view the kill, because I would have had a longer reach to strike with. As it was I killed her with Duncan's dagger and the Bloodline axe, and I was standing under her chest when I triggered the cutscene.

Yes! I don't think any of us doubt that Fiona is Alistair's mom, and those who have had doubts were quickly converted, usually.
And yeah...no one has any doubts about my Alistair squee....

Yes and ditto. (mainly because my friends just look at me as though I'm insane when I try to tell them about the wonders of computer games, they all claim they 'don't have time' for such things with their busy real lives and their kids or some other nonsense. I mean really, some people just don't have their priorities right.)

Yeah, it's definitely a DL thing for me too, even with my one friend who actually is playing and loving DA:O as much as I am, but doesn't quite get the Alistair thing, and certainly doesn't expect any silly Squee!-ness from me.
