Smelly vegetable? I disagree.
Onions don't smell bad. if you want veggies with rank odor, you have broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, asparagus, and broad beans, which I think have a faint odor of feet. But raw onions? No. They smell divine.
I won't eat them cooked unless they are practically dissolved. Cooked onion just have no taste.

I think it's a matter of base smell, where broccoli and cauliflower and the rest do not smell when cut into or raw, onions are distinct and heavy to most. But I love onions and garlic too, so I'm easily pleased.
