I have no idea, but I like her new version. She looks more intriguing now and scarier. Maybe they will explain why she presents a face for the warden and another for Hawke.LadyDamodred wrote...

Hey, there are some new screenies of DA2~
(unless Flemeth's hair and cape thingy stick out like that permanently, it seems things will actually move *_*)
Moar here, http://www.gamersplu...ion=screenshots
some things looking nice, others... need improvement.
Personally, I'm wondering what Flemeth plans on doing with that darkspawn she's dragging around.

There's a poll, voiced or silent, in the DA2 forum. Folks may want to vote on that--not that I think it will make any difference at all in the long run. Still, I think a lot of people on the Forum are either ME2 fans, prefer that style, or in some way aren't the people that are most dismayed by the new direction. I suspect strongly that most of those are staying away altogether, and the more pissed they are, the more likely they are to continue to stay away.
What?

In short: Errant thinks that most of the people who prefer VO are in that forum, while those that don't ignore it.
Errant wants people who dislike VO to go and vote in the poll.

They say that she first appears as a dragon and catches a darkspawn in her claws, so probably she's just shifted. (ninja'ed by Herr Uhl)

Ok, finally proof that we are different. I love the "Joe Mathlete Explains Maramduke" blog becuase it exposes how ridiculous and dumb Marmaduke really is......as are most strips.

Oh, I know how horrible comic strips are (most of them, anyway). But I also have an incredible affection for them from childhood. I love blogs like Joe Mathlete Explains Marmaduke (or Scott Meets Family Circus, or even Garfield Minus Garfield*) for the same reasons you do, I just have an embarassing crush on the mildly deformed subject matter.
*As a born and bred Hoosier, I was way into Garfield as a child (mandatory, like finding John Mellancamp relevant and thinking Letterman is God) and the happiest day of my life was when these videos went live.

Personally I don't care about the VO anymore. This isn't the story of my character, it's the story of Hawke Champion of Kirkwall.

I don't think (opinion) VO is going to be the only problem for people seeking immersion in their character. I listed to a podcast last night and it sounded like they'll be going from Hawke back to the person telling the story for certain parts. The example that the dev gave was how it goes back to the grandson/grandfather in the movie The Princess Bride.

In stark difference to the warden that defeats the blight against seemingly insurmountable odds?
But I'm not a fan of the system either, mostly because I like the fluff. It seems like they are simply going to make things shorter, by focusing on the times where something important happens. It doesn't hinder it from roleplaying the character if done right. It is the wheel and VO that I'm concerned about in that regard.

While I agree with this to some extent, its really not that much different than Cousland the Grey Warden that has to defeat a blight, Amell the Grey Warden that has to defeat a blight, Surana the Grey Warden that has to defeat a blight, etc.
I am not happy with the direction that DA2 seems to be taking, but I will give it a shot. Who knows, the narrator a la Princess Bride might make you even more engaged in the story.....just like little Fred Savage

I'm not sure what you're implying since I wasn't being sarcastic. I was simply using his/her official given title.
DA2 is about an established character named Hawke just as The Witcher is about the established character named Geralt. You're going to be playing through Hawke's story. The only difference between the two is you'll be able to pick Hawke's sex and customize his/her face somewhat.

Admittedly the Cousland story is probably the most preformed as you actually have a mother, father, brother, sister-in-law and nephew. Regardless, example: the mage origin isn't preformed at all; there's basically little to no background story on who you actually are. At that point you're forming the character almost entirely.

The difference is, you had control over that Cousland or Amell's personality, mannerisms, manner of speech...etc. Especially if you do not take the dialogue options literally, but try to come up with different ways to say it as long as it fits what was written.
But I am not worried about DA2 really. I prefer the silent protagonist, but I am fully aware of the benefits of a voiced one. If Bioware feels that Hawke's story needs to be told in a cinematic way, then a voiced Hawke makes sense.

But who's to say the same won't apply to Hawke? I don't like the VO or the dialgoue wheel either....in fact I loathe them. But I think that saying we won't be able to "create" our character is a bit premature.

I tried The Witcher and didn't get very far before I lost interest. All you do is control Geralt's sword strikes, looting and leveling. People call that roleplay? Eh well. I have accepted that even though I never played Baldur's Gate or those other games, I was just a dinosaur and didn't know it.Serissia wrote...

Yeah, from what I hear in the podcast and the commentary from the devs, his or her personality is not as rigid/set in stone as having a voiced PC makes it seem...

You can't help but have a persona imposed on a character from a voice, though. Granted that good VA's have incredible range, and from the dev comments they are trying to provide a range which is tied to the little icons next to the dialogue choice.yukidama wrote...

I am hoping we get a DLC announcement soon as a more pleasant distraction. Not that the DLCs have been much to get excited over. But a Zevran DLC or something would be grand. An Alistair one would make my heart stop, but we know SV hasn't done any so no hope there.

I have read up on the title too, and that is being paraded as something that hinders roleplay. The title is what Hawke will become at the end, how and why, who knows? Just like that we all knew that the warden would defeat the blight in the end.
You're expecting it to be like the Witcher? Based on what exactly? Geralt is an extremely predetermined character. Something like Kotor is a more valid comparison imo. You're always Revan and you are always going to defeat Malak.
