You didn't miss anything on the cartoon version. The movies... I have mixed feelings. They were well done, but the purist in me can't applaud them too loudly.Zyanic wrote...
I 've seen one of the movies (don't even know which one) and I've never read the books.
I did watch some crazy cartoon version once though. Although I think it ended abruptly and was meant to be continued...never saw the end.

Bad nerd!
And the books have too much description and description bores me to death.
You know that I'm always watching
You could try the radio theater version made by BBC of it then. (They still cut Tom Bombadil though)

I tried to read the Hobbit when I was probably far too young to really understand it and it put me off trying to read any of it, I remember thinking similarly to Sarah in that there was masses of description ( which isn't always a bad thing) and I think I just wanted the story. If I had tried to read it later in life who knows.
I hear what you're saying about the purist and the movies, I find it really difficult to watch a film of a book that I merely liked, let alone loved.
I also find it hard to go from watching a movie of something to reading the book,
Anyway I've been awake since wednesday. It is sleepy time for Zyan.

I did, too, actually, but picked them back up again in high school and college. I bet if you read The Hobbit now you'd find it a doddle. My problem was more with trying to keep all the characters straight. Tolkien's strength is not narrative, but I think that's partly deliberate because to him the story is the vehicle to show you a world rather than the other way around.Zyanic wrote...

She doesn't know what he's thinking and he's just practicing in case the opportunity arises, just to be ready. I don't think he really believes that his day-dreaming fantasies will come true though, not yet.Sandtigress wrote...

lol In their fic I do have a scene where Alistair gets too close and is "Holy Maker why am I even thinking about kissing her, that's it, no more ale, EVER". For them, I imagine Alistair is falling the whole time while Kara isn't thinking about it at all, with Tamlen and him being human and all that. She likes the guy, but she never considers even the possibility of there being a relationship until it gets shoved in her face later on and she has to admit that she has feelings for him.

You have to love the PC <3 and the mods, of course. Are you preparing a playthrough for importing it to DA2? Or is it just to have it?Sandtigress wrote...
Kara's already got three playthroughs doneso I know how her story goes and what happens. She's getting a fourth now that I have my PC copy though, complete with screenshots finally and I still have to run her through Awakening. I'm not familiar enough with the choices to know what she'll do yet, so I'm stalling while I run someone other than my canon through the game.
I don't have any canons, though if I'd have to choose, it would be an elven mage.

Parallel universes, dear Watson:wizard:
By canon, I mean that those are the two people how are being imported to other games. Making their stories canon.

Yeah, me too, Aurora was originally a brunette, but I think I'm going to make Arden a blonde. Because blonde have more fun (which I wouldn't know, since I'm not blonde:P)

I think blondes get treated like they have more fun -- I was one for about 2 years and was definitely treated differently as a blonde than as a brunette! And also, differently as a redhead... people assume you're more fiery then. It's kind of funny
I like Arden better too, depending on her personality. I always think of Aurora as the princess from Sleeping Beauty, so it seems like a softer name to me. Arden sounds like she can hold her own

Yeah, that way you're going to distinguish her from Aurora, even if they are sisters in spirit and action (doing the same things as her predecessor, since it's a replay).Kryyptehk wrote...

I have parallel universe canons, too. I don't think I'd be able to choose just one. I love their characters & stories too much!!
