I don't know if a darkspawn would try to turn a female GW into a broodmother but I think their resistance to the taint would stop that. Part of the process is apparently raping the broodmother candidate and I can't see why they'd need to do that unless it's to create the initial darkspawn she spawns. Since the GWs can't have kids I don't see why that would turn them.Sandtigress wrote...

But there would be no reason for the darkspawn to be awakened. There would be about the same chances as a regular old broodmother because the Taint doesn't get in the placenta (assuming they have placentas). And that is really the only thing special about the Warden.
Not to mention like Lady Jess has said before, I seriously doubt the Warden could carry a baby full term or conceive at all. Darkspawn or no.

I wouldn't doubt it. I imagine he knew a great many things about the Taint from just being a darkspawn himself.
Though the conception of darkspawn must be different than other things, because technically they shouldn't be born as darkspawn. The Taint doesn't go through the placenta and the "father's" Taint status apparently doesn't matter.

But the baby that Fiona had doesn't have the Taint, despite his mother being a Warden. I don't think Morrigan would want a darkspawn baby (I assumed it was going to be a regular child with an old god soul). Though there is a slight plot hole in that the baby is somehow tainted (which could be explained by the ritual) but doesn't become a darkspawn or die when the soul of the Archdemon enters it.

Fiona's baby is hardly common knowledge and all Morrigan says is that the child will not be a darkspawn. I know that she knows that and she may even know that the children of Wardens are fine but all she tells you is that using this ritual, it won't be a darkspawn. For all you know, part of the ritual is conceiving a non-darkspawn but still tainted-for-now child.Kryyptehk wrote...

No, they don't turn into darkspawn. A ghoul is any living creature that has been afflicted with the darkspawn corruption and survived the process-- and there are different stages from your typical (the standard "ghoul" you encounter, or creatures such as the blight wolf or the bereskarn) to the very advanced (the broodmother, a being who has had their corruption artificially accelerated). A darkspawn is a creature that is born from a ghoul, but that's the only way they're created.

True. I wasn't sure what you were getting at at first, but yeah, the character probably wouldn't know. Unless they kept the Architect around, who may have done tests on the Wardens he found. Heck, Avernus may have even done that kind of research, since we know he experimented on Wardens as well.

Well, infertility could be for a lot of reasons - I always thought it was more that female Wardens wouldn't carry a baby to term, or even very long, as opposed to not being able to conceive. More like their womb is a toxic place due to the taint.
I mean, Fiona was able to conceive and it seems like it isn't unheard of amongst the Wardens, just rare. Which is kind of funny, considering how rare women Wardens are supposed to be anyways.

True. I wasn't sure what you were getting at at first, but yeah, the character probably wouldn't know. Unless they kept the Architect around, who may have done tests on the Wardens he found. Heck, Avernus may have even done that kind of research, since we know he experimented on Wardens as well.
For Kara's piece of mind I'm just going to pretend that the Architect has already figured out there's no point in trying to turn a Warden into a broodmother. I do enough awful things to that poor girl as it is. Maybe another of my Wardens.

I would imagine that it usually goes the other way, i.e. a male Warden making a baby with a non-Warden female. About the infertility, that's an interesting question. I do guess that it has something to do with not being able to carry to term. It seems that the body processes are "revved" by the taint, hence the increased appetite (aaand, if you believe Morrigan, increased staminaSandtigress wrote...
*hugs Alistair to forget about broodmothers*
