Talking about DLCs makes me really want the pre-Ostagar Warden Alistair DLC.  How awesome would it be to not only have Alistair and Duncan together shortly after his recruiting, but to have Duncan as a controllable party member in a battle.  Hot DW rogue slice and dice!    It would be both Bro- and fangirl-friendly, so why haven't they done this yet??  It's kind of disappointing to see the paltry quality of the DLCs.  It seems like they've gone for quantity over quality.

Anora. Unless it's my Executive Mage, I feel weird putting him on the throne with a mage as his mistress. It seems like something that could go horrifically wrong.

Hi everyone, new to the forums.

I bought DAO after finishing ME/ME2 and KOTOR, and I have to say that I didn't like the game at all. I thought it was tedious, way too difficult/unbalanced even on Casual difficulty, and the inventory system drove me nuts.

But what kept me reopening that darned .exe file and playing a bit more is Alistair. I absolutely adore the character, which is a testemant to BioWare that they make characters so believable, real, and complex that even if the game itself sucks, if the writing and stories are there, you just can't help but get sucked in.

While I won't be playing through DAO again, I will continue to rewatch my favorite Alistair cutscenes on YouTube. I went and watched his only appearance in Awakening just so I wouldn't have to buy it for one scene, hee hee.

Seriously, he is awesome. Just adorable, sweet, genuine and yet flawed as well -- much like we all are.

Hello there!  Thanks for posting.  I've got lots of squee-rific videos at the link in my signature.  

I almost stopped playing DAO, too, because I found the combat really hard.  I couldn't finish more than a few hours of ME, though (didn't like it at all, so we're opposites there!), so can't compare really, but it was also Alistair's romance that kept me playing... and playing...

The VO notes are easy they're stored in the Conversation header, the trees are named for each NPC so Alistair's would be Alistair_Main.dlg then you just open it up and you can click through all the path most have the notes written at the bottom.

Another toolset idiot here ha ha ha! What file do I need to open to be able to see these headers? The only files I've opened were my savegames to do some stats tweaking.

Andraste's knickers, Alistair is still unhardened in this game.  I made a video of Idun at Goldanna's but I must have reloaded and then never went back.  Wow, I haven't heard these dialogues (the kingship/ Anora ones) since my very 1st playthrough.  I have to say they're cute.  The running off to Orlais and living in sin one made me LOL.

Hmm.  I wonder if I should wait til after the LM to harden him.  It would at least be interesting to see if anything changes.

You mean the dialogue at Goldanna's, right?  I was wondering if there were any other differences, like in the "where do you see this going" dialogue.  I guess if he's not king you wouldn't get him in the post-LM, right, just Anora?  Ick.  That's the worst part about her being sole ruler- having to see her face a few more times.

And then there's missing this.  *sigh*
