Alistair, post-coronation... and/or Alistair gush thread (Origins/Awakening Spoilers)

Though that itself would ignite epic rage threads about it not being their "Warden".

I would say though, the likelihood of mass producing a character in armor is...low. Pheleon can make about 4-5 high quality plushies in one single day. It took a whole day of work to do Alistair's armor ALONE. And then more work the next day. So...maybe Morrigan but not Alistair except in clothing xD

Yeah, but what would be the default? Male human noble? I'd like some recognition that us female gamers rarely get.

I think he meant a female and male default version of each origin. It probably wouldn't go over well to have an 'official' way that a female Tabris or male Cousland is 'supposed' to look.Kryyptehk wrote...

"NOES THIS MESSES WITH MY CANON!"
When all bioware did was say this is the defualt story line the game follows without imput.
I wonder if the DA anime is going to be like the Halo anime with some artists doing takes on DA, or their own wardens now.

No it's like the opposite. I don't want you or Sarah to think I'm just blowing you guys off or something, I don't really like going OH LOOK AT ME, MY ISSUES. But I promised you both fic and I mean to deliver, I don't want you two to feel like I won't come through. It's been a rough week full of self confidence issues and feeling stupid and like a failure, and so I feel bad. No worries.

What brought upon the PC in your game falling in love with Alistair, if you've played a playthrough like this. What was the big thing they related on? Everyone's got different answers so I'd love to know

[begin ramble]
She just did. My Lady Aeducan wasn't exactly looking for it, and it just happened. They are polar opposites in some regards, but he was there being nice and sweet and funny and was what she needed after the monumental cluster**** that is her life, and made her feel -for once- secure.
In my head, they fight like cat and dog. Whenever I try to write them there's always an undertone of a power struggle. She did not put him on the throne, nor did she return to Orzammar to deal with Harrowmont's political failings. So she places a lot of cultural guilt on their relationship, which isn't entirely fair, and hides her feelings from him.
Eventually she returns "home" to help sort out the social mess that is her Orzammar, but she still keeps it at arm's length. She marries Alistair -of course she does- and eventually the pair of them leave Vigil's Keep to be selfish and just live, something they both deserve.
I think I need to take them to couples therapy before I attempt to write them again, because the constant bickering is kind of exhausting, even though they do love each other under it.
[/end rambling]

One of the most important points of the journey would be Soldier's Keep, where Breanna, Alistair and Bali (the mabari) go alone because of ... you know, Grey Warden secrets. ;-) Also the recruiting of the templars and the death of Isolde (or Connor?) should be interesting. Looooots of stuff to fight over.
Opposites attract, I suppose. In the end they lose what they had because Breanna recruits Loghain and feeds him to the AD. (Which is why I want that savegame for DA2! Free Marches, hellooooo! One can dream.)

For Arden Cousland, he was kind, funny, charming and undeceptive, unlike the men she grew up with. For her, it was nice being able to open up to someone without worrying about them using it against her or manipulating her with what she told them.
For Neve Surana, she's a very Lawful Good type character, so they agreed on pretty everything, whereas Arden and him disagreed a lot. Her reasons were a lot like Arden's (he was kind, charming, funny, etc etc) but more importantly, for the first time in her life she felt like her magic wasn't what defined her. He didn't ignore her magic, but he didn't treat her like "Neve Surana: Mage".
For my unnamed Tabris (who I'm writing a story about, so any name suggestions would be great, since I'm awful at making up names) he redeemed humans in her eyes. She was able to put her trust in him and not feel pressured into a relationship with him. They both took things slowly and he understood her trust issues. Of course, their relationship didn't last and she got with Zev in the end, but their's still count since he was her first love.

I hate when I have something good all typed up and then... I hit the back button in stead of the other tab button.. gah!!
Anyhoo. My Lauren Cousland and Alistair are actually childhood friends. (writing the story as we speak)The Couslands would visit Redcliffe in the summers so Lauren and Fergus (for a while) would play with the local kids.. Alistair included once Lauren fussed about him not getting to play with all the other kids... When she was 8 some of the local bullies pushed her down and made her cry. Alistair came to her rescue and from then on, he was her hero. You can imagine her ire and saddness when she returned the next time to find he'd been sent away to the Chantry. Anyway they reuntie (obviously) and their already strong friendship grows into something.. more.
edit: stupid tabs.. not working right.. (mumble, grumble......grr)
Have some recycled pics (have some new ones.. just haven't been able to upload them...maybe today I can, if my internet doesn't mess itself... again...<_<

Same deal as soignee. Was just going with the flow and was impressed that Alistair focused on the PC's actions, not looks, when he gave the rose. When the issue of dwarf + human was dismissed as irrelevant in the grand scheme of things during the in-love talk, that pretty much cemented their relationship. The big thing that they related on was Grey Wardens. Since she was dwarf nobility, she understood his reluctance about the Ferelden throne.okiness wrote...

I am Captain Cliche! Irini Cousland and Alistair grabbed onto each other when everything else they cared about was destroyed. I don't know if it would have worked in the long term, but then, between her marrying him off to Anora and him ganking her Archdemon kill, that ended up not being an issue.

What with the whole 'charming, funny, thoughtful, brave, and goodlooking' thing, there really wasn't that much to think about, and she was interested by the time they got out of the wilds. The only way she wouldn't have put him on the throne was if there was something seriously wrong with him, or he had continued to be so reluctant to do it--which kind of baffled her.

To use my current Dalish PC as an example, she got hit with a one-two punch of Alistair expressing admiration for her culture- something no one else does- and by him telling her "you're the reason I said I was lucky." It took some more time and putting Tamlen to rest before she could give in, however.
With most of my characters, there is a sense of shared loss and purpose. Just like Alistair says, they are thrown together. And generally they are both misfits. I also tend to play PCs on the noble/good path so they have shared values in common.

Suffice it to say maybe that like Addai my Dalish PC was won over with his respect and admiration for her culture and herself - he never saw her as less than a person even though she was an elf like the rest of the world around her did. He's clan, in a way, and in the end they fall for each other out of mutual need and admiration. They have to deal a bit with the human/Dalish, but in the end realize they can make it work and while it's important, they can compromise and learn from each other.
Amelia, my HNF is more straight-forward in some ways and less in other. She has a lot of trouble with him being a commoner at first - she likes him a lot, he's handsome and kind and all those good things, but she's committed to reclaiming the Cousland name and knows that she'll need to marry a noble. She never wanted to be a Grey Warden in the first place. She and Alistair start to bond over the mutual sense of loss, having both just lost their families and everyone they cared about. Eventually she comes to terms with being a Warden instead of a noble though, and it's kind of downhill from there. But if you're curious, read tomorrow's letter to Fergus. :-P
