Gonna go ahead and quote this.  Every page should have a little Morrigan imo.

Oh Axekix, you're here.  I was going to ask you about what you said upthread about how Alistair comes off differently when playing a femWarden vs. a male PC.  Can you elaborate?  I've only played the one male PC, and since he was something like my 10th character or something, it's sort of hard to come at Alistair's character fresh.  I'm wondering how he's perceived as a male PC.  I've read here in the forums plenty of "what a wimp" and "we had a bromance" comments, but no detail.

Well, I don't know if I would call him a wimp, but he came off kind of goofy to me and was too passive for someone with his kind of experience imo.

Going into my female playthrough, I never expected him to just up and grab my PC like he did.  Playing a female you get to see his more "aggressive" side I guess?  On my male games, since he never gets any action (lol) I'd never really seen him come out of his shell.

I must say, I was completely surprised when the PC says (on being asked if she might ever return his feelings) "I don't know. It's too soon to tell" and Alistair kisses her, asking "Well, is it too soon for that?" (paraphrase) Why, Alistair! How extremely bold of you! I know some very smooth and confident guys who wouldn't dare try such a move in the face of such diffidence.

Haha, I know!  It's a pretty damn ballsy move!  It caught me completely off guard.

Playing as a male I never even knew he had that side to him.  It would be nice if he could show it somehow... I almost wish I could pair him up with Lel or something in my male games (almost).  I like bold Alistair better than... err... normal Alistair.

I am going to assume a Cousland/Nate hatesex romp would not involve a queen cousland, right?  I wouldn't have th heart to do that to Alistair.  XD

Maybe not Queen, but there has to be a relationship with Alistair....it makes the whole thing more forbidden.  Don't get me wrong, the thought of it all breaks my heart too....which is what makes the whole idea so delicious!  It's not all puppies and rainbows in Thedas.....
Don't worry Alistair, baby!  I still love you the mostest!! Posted Image

Hmmm, can't find the sad Alistair pic I really want, so I'll borrow this one.

Geh, dunno if I could do a Queen Cousland actually cheating on Alistair.  I feel abd enough killing him with that story last night.  ( ._.)

I'm seriously considering going back to goldanna and hardening him...I'm half afraid to get to the landsmeet and try to make him king unhardened.

Cousland married to Alistair, completely devoted, completely in love, et cetera, et cetera. But during the time of Awakening, she's away from Alistair for a very long time. Nathaniel is her constant companion...and with that voice and broodiness, how could Cousland not have thoughts? I'm not saying she'd actually do anything, but the sexual tension has to exist, no?

Yep.  You described it exactly as I saw it with HNF.  She would never do anything, but did think about the "what if."  Howe was trying to set your HNF up with Thomas, after all.  Nathaniel would have been the more logical one.

Come on Lady D, you've already killed him.  Cheating on him will be a walk in the park!

See, that's totally doable!  Maybe even a makeout session.  I just don't think I could have a queen in love with Alistair cheat on him.

I don't think I'd have the heart to do that to PC romantically involved with Alistair as well. He'll use the almighty sadface on me. :crying: Although I can see it happening with a PC that lived through a WC ending... Hmm...

It would be much, much harder, actually.  She would have no justification for it, and in a way it's a worse betrayal.

Side note for those who watch Bleach:  This is an interesting conversation to have while listening to Grimmjow talk about messign Inoue up on the...inside.

ROFL yes, yes you are but in a good way! Is there any reason NOT to harden him? I only didn't, because somewhere on the boards I read that someone with the Queen Cousland ending actually got the GOOD end slide in Awakening, but it may have been a fluke.

I don't see any good side to not hardening him.  The way I see it, he will always be happier hardened than unhardened, no matter what he ends up doing.

That was me Lady Jess....And I realized it was just becuase I'm a big dope.  The save that got transfered over was from before the landsmeet (stupid xbox), so it didn't recognize us as married......so yeah, I'm a big dope.

No way.  I'm sure it's my own RL predilections dictating, but my HNF would never cheat on him.  At one point I wondered if Alistair would be the kind of guy who would cheat on his queen, based on Anora's comments about Cailan and my first impressions of Maric before reading The Calling.  I've re-thunk that notion soundly, however, at least for a love match.  Maric was not a gadabout, though he did find it difficult to turn down the invitation of a kind woman when it came along.  Unless we find out that he had another bastard besides Fiona's baby, he seems to have been faithful to Rowan after their marriage, at least.  Cailan might have had a wandering lamppost, but we really only have Anora's word for that.  And then we know from the Warden's experience that Alistair can keep it in his pantaloons.  So, like I said, I think he's serious when he says he wants the femPC to be his last (Morri doesn't count).

These are the advantages of a ruling pair marrying for love.  Who really thinks that if Alistair married Anora without a femWarden mistress, that he wouldn't take such an invitation for a little comfort?  And who could blame him.

I would definitely harden him if you make him king. He hates the idea of it so much when he's unhardened (if you do it as a friend he comes out and asks "How could you do this to me?") that it's a little heartbreaking.

I'm not hardening him this playthrough as a HNF. It just changes some of the dialogue, and I like to change things up a bit.

Oh, I know! I can't ever stand to have an unhardened Alistair on any play through now. :/

@cmessaz: Are you gonna make him king?  I don't know how anyone can make an unhardened Alistair king if they're in loe with him.  If you're gonna run off into the sunset with him, though, that's cool.

I don't think I could ever harden him (heh), becuase the line that it takes is something my PC would never say...it sounds so mean. Really the only reason I see to harden him (heh) is becuase I know the outcome is better for everyone in the long run. But from a RP perspective, that's not a very good enough reason. In that moment, I don't know what the outcome will be.

Do it like this:

1. Highlight the hardening option.
2. Close your eyes.
3. Say something nice and supportive that clearly indicates you think he's awesome and that he should maybe work a little harder to protect that awesomeness.
4. Click
5. Profit!

lol.  Cheater!  You can totally rp it, but it helps if you've done Redcliffe and Sacred Ashes first.  That wasy your char gets to see how Alistair reacts to different people trying to use him for stuff.
