It fits really well with a stoic PC (Think Bree of Desperate Housewives).  The only person Valora let her defenses down for was Alistair. She would never have allowed Loghain to live, she couldn't destroy the one person she had left she could count on.

Its a bittersweet ending. I cried but its really my second favorite ending.  My Cousland boy took the blow. The ending epilog slides were so touching (My favorite is Sten's) and the parting at the gates is especially poignant knowing the PC and the companions being left behind are saying their last words to each other.

I felt the same way the first time I played a HNF pc and romanced Alistair, made him king with me beside him and the shyt goes off n sacrifices himself.  I couldn't believe that no one had anything to say, Anora pist me off the most though.  It's like what she did have to say about Alistair was an after thought.  I wanted to slap her and say the only reason why your here is because the man that rightfully belongs on this throne died to save us all, you ungrateful bytch. 

Lol sorry about the rant.  That whole scene just pisses me off.


EDIT:  I should add I've never been able to have Alistair with me in the end if I decided not to do the DR anymore lol.

We do like our stoic girls, don't we? Lya is usually pretty strong, but she breaks occassionally. And what happens when she breaks BECAUSE Alistair is injured and isn't there to comfort her? She is quite distressed.

The guardian thing... This is why I make lots of saves. It let's me go back and see different things without having to reroll/replay. As for the eulogy with an Alistair romance, it's very sad if you've never seen it. He keeps it together except for two lines. But his voice kinda hitches and then breaks and awww. ( ._.)

Another thing I don't understand about the whole Landsmeet scene:



So after the duel you accept his surrender right? Then Riordian comes and says his bit, and Alistair rebuttals, then you have to make the choice. So you select to let him take the joining and you already know Alistair isn't going to like it. So he gets mad and forces you to make a "choice" he says: "It's either me or him". He calls it a choice, but it's not really a choice at this point because you are already locked into it, you can't say: "Ok Alistair you're right, Loghain dies" You can only say "Sorry Al, not picking you" and execute him or run him off.

WOOT!  That sorta confirms it, now doesn't it?  I'm gonna assume 21 at the end of the game, since that's how the timeline would have to work.  *does a happy dance*

I have a lot of saved files too. I have one just before Morrigan's offer so I can go through it now if I want, but... I'll save that for another day. The DR/married ending is still fresh in my head and I don't want to spoil it just yet. xD

He does look happy, doesn't he? I know it's the generic expression for whoever you put on the throne, but when you put things into context it has a whole different meaning. In this case... he looks so genuinely happy, and that was a heartwarming thought. :)

Oooo that's an interesting bit of info you got there! Thanks for sharing! He's not that far off from my estimate; I was thinking he was around 24, 25, around that number. x3

Sadly, she doesn't do it.  *sighs*  She figures Alistair would disapprove of it, and she doesn't want to disappoint him.  That's the story that starts off with the poem my sig is from.  Makes me tear up a little each time I read it.

I have never seen it confirmed before. There was a lot of speculation about it, but with all the inconsistencies, it was hard to get a definitive answer. With an age put on Alistair, it does make it clearer.

I didn't get your signature, or whatever that thing on the bottom is called, on this, but when you think about it being about Alistair after he died...it really gets ya.....did me anyway...brought tears to my eyes. I guess my hubby is right...I really do love AlistairPosted Image.

32 seems so ridiculously wrong for his character it's not even funny.  Alistair becomes something completely different if he's that old.  I vaguely recall discussion that he was intended to be older, but it was later changed.  Could be just a holdover from earlier info.

I don't have a link, but I remember reading that the ages in the toolset are for the voices of the characters, not representing the age.

I think you could be right. David months ago placed Alistairs age in his mid 20s, there seems to be so much conflicting information regarding that.

LOok at his concept art. That man is much older than the Ali we have in game (or sure looks like it to me). Just hopped over to UTube to see the US for romanced PC and Al's eulogy. It was sweet (Mage). And he does break at a couple of the lines. I love the US it makes everything so much more urgent but I can never let go of Alistair if I romance him so I will only be able to do it on my boys.

I've always believed Alistair was Fiona's since I read those books back in Nov. Despite what Eamon and everyone else might believe in the game, which was told to protect Alistair even more, (Maric and Fiona's idea to keep him away from the throne). I wonder if Alistair's true story will ever come out, not what we know from the game but his true parentage, if he'll ever meet Fiona.

I checked too, and was pretty shocked when I saw it. xD From what I read around the forums though, the ages listed in the toolset were just a sort of rough guide for the depiction of the characters, so that shouldn't be final.

You know, if only Gaider ninja'd into the thread and confirmed the age himself... now THAT would be awesome. :ph34r:

All this talk about Fiona is making me real curious... I should really pick the book up the next time I go out. Which is rare these days, sadly. *hermit*
