So true. I actually went back recently and replayed FF 5 and 6, and I had a lot of fun. Was half expecting to not be able to make it though but the games still have magic for me I guess.yukidama wrote...
I never have either, but I am interested too. If I could make it through earlier Final Fantasies I can handle this. I imagine the younger people of the future will be saying the same of the games we find so groundbreaking
I remember watching my cousin play FF7 when it came out and he was so amazed by the graphics. I played through it last year and was amused by how blocky everything was. Though if you have a good story and interesting enough characters you can excuse that easier.

anything with alistair by my wardens side is good :} "drools" dang bioware wrote him way to good cant resist his charm every playthrough he makes me melt
I understand completely. I created an new City Elf Orgin, with the intention of romancing Zevran and i found myself being pulled in by Alistair's charm. I just don't find ladyboys appealing, but that's just my own taste.

Really? I thought the graphics were terrible, peoples arms were like hourglasses and everything was so polygonial (not a real word but it is now!). But it was still pretty fun, story was OK, although I really didn't like the materia system. I still don't understand how that game got so many diehard fanboys.yukidama wrote...

Well, this was also in like 1997, so his amazement is not unfounded xD I was never allowed to play of course (as a little kid and a girl), but then again I am not sure how much I'd have gotten from it as a 9 year old. Yeah, it's definitely not my favorite FF, I like 4 better. Was sorely disappointed by 13 though ;w;

i'm the same plus alistairs personality is too much like my fiance's so my warden falls in love with him every time even when i'm not trying too (oh well its like having a part of my fiance in the game)

Even back then I still thought they were bad, I mean other PS games had better graphics so I was a little dumbfounded by it. If I had to pick a favorite, I would have to say 8. I know a lot of people didn't like it but I thought it was a real unique gaming experience, still haven't played anything like it to this day. I haven't played or bought 13 yet, hell I still have to finish 12. God damn that game is long, my first game I was almost to the finale (not even including all the numerous side quests) and I had like 150+ game hours logged in. I have to restart though because I missed too much stuff when I get around to it again.yukidama wrote...

Hahaha well, I don't know about that then. I liked 12 but I felt it ended before anything really happened. Plus, my problem with more recent FF games is the lack of a distinct main character, or at least a character who is a larger focus of the story than others. When they have an ensemble cast type deal each one of their potentially interesting characters suffers for it. This is worse in 13 I think, I couldn't finish because I just did not care at all and after 30 hours I was sick of it.

Well maybe I just play real slow then or something. That's true, but at the same time thats also a good thing for me because I hate it focusing all on one character and leaving the others out.yukidama wrote...

As for the whole deal with FF7... I'd say it's overrated. And with the release of the movie, I think that's where the hype blew out of proportion. I can't make any real judgment though since I haven't beaten the game myself--I think I'm halfway done with it though--but the story's been decent so far. A friend of mine keeps telling me that the point I'm in the game now isn't even touching half the story FF7 entails, so who knows? I also think FF7 was kind of made into the "standard model" of JRPGs today as we know it? Correct me if I'm wrong.
My favorite has to be FF9 though. It was my first, and it will always have a special place in my heart. <3 It has a real fantasy edge to it.
Nearly out of the Wilds now, btw. Let's hope this works... >A<;

I agree, I really thought it was overrated. The story was OK imo, not nearly as good as people make it out to be. I liked 9, it was a lot like the older ones but still was unique in many ways.nranola wrote...

Bored of Ostagar yet? I know I am as soon as I step foot in it, everywhere else in the game is fine, but Ostagar and the Wilds puts me to sleep.

@yuki- I don't supposed you've picked up Persona 3 or 4? I think you're going to like it. x3

Persona 3 and 4 are my absolute favorite JRPGs. I love pretty much anything in the Shin Megami Tensei series, though I haven't been able to play the older games. But the Persona games are definitely my favorite. I've beaten P3 a zillion times but I can't wait for the PSP version.
FF7 is definitely overrated but I think it is okay. I really have no interest in playing it again after I finished. In fact I prefer Crisis Core infinitely over FF7. I think the problem with many JRPGs and definitely the most recent Final Fantasy game is that the introduction is too damn long. If it's 25 hours in and I have no clue why I am doing what I am doing or why I should care, there's no real incentive to keep playing.
My first was X, and I love it to bits even though I find Tidus insufferable. I think the main reason I like Morrigan is because my first impression of her was "HEY. IT'S LULU." Belt skirt and all
