What's that bit of dialogue from? I've never heard it.

From one of the conversations where you ask him about being a Templar. I think it's the first one, not the "why have you remained a Templar?" one.

Indeed it is and I only got it on my third play through.  It took my breath away...

One would wonder why in Anora's ending the elves didn't make more rabbit/rat stew...ewww I can't even stand the thought of eating squirrel let alone rat.

Rabbit isn't bad if cooked right.

Screw cooking those things, I don't know why you can't use them as mounts. They certainly look big enough for some of your party to ride.

Me either.  I can't play warriors any more.  I don't know why I even try.

Oghren can adapt his mabari chariot for them.  Posted Image

I can't play rogues anymore after playing a DW Warrior. The only rogue specialization I like is Ranger (who doesn't want their own bear and/or spiny wolf?) but I adore all four warrior specializations. I'm especially fond of Reaver- there is something intensely sexy about a woman who kicks ass with two longswords and who has the ability to stop an Ogre Alpha dead in its tracks with nothing more than her face.

If I had any artistic talent at all, I'd draw Oghren's mabari-rat chariot. The mental image is just hilarious to me for some reason.

I only recently unlocked Reaver (my husband and I apparently play saints all the time and he even more than me since I'm the one who unlocked Blood Mage and Reaver) so I haven't tried it.  I just find the warrior talents boring- most of them are passive.   I like running around stealthing, disarming traps and unlocking chests as well as fighting.  My first few characters were all DW warriors and I tried to go back to it with a DNF not long ago, but I keep sending her off to unlock a chest and then she stands there with a dumb look on her face yelling for Zevran.

But, you've convinced me to respec Alistair to DW next time around.  Posted Image

Yay for DW Alistair!

I play pretty much nothing but sneaky rogue-types in Oblivion and FO3, so I think I like the idea of having a main who feels no compunction about running up to a monster ten times her size and just going to town. With Zev and Leliana being beloved and ever-present companions, I can get my trap-disarming/lockpicking kicks that way.

Reaver is awesome for Devour and Frightening Appearance. Aura of Pain is fun for the end of the game when you can kill 10 darkspawn at once just by standing near them for a few seconds.

I was thinking about the prophecy Flemeth made about Maric. She said that he would hurt the ones he loves the most. He sure fulfilled that with his son. I just can't fathom that he believed he was doing a good thing by not being involved in Alistair's life at all.

Maric is as much a tragic Shakespearen character as Loghain is.  Maric tries to be a good man despite the tragedy that constantly befalls him.  Yet he continually fails the people closest to him.  If Maric had acknowledged Rowan's love originally she would of never turned to Loghain.  She would of never ended up torn between duty and love.  When Rowan died Cailan should of been the most important person in Maric's life yet he turned away from his son.

I'm curious to know what else Flemeth told Maric.  We know that she openly told Maric and Loghain that Loghain would betray Maric again and again.  Later on we learn that she spoke to Maric of a Blight that would come to Ferelden but he would not live to see it.

Some people think that the promise Flemeth made Maric make was to allow the Wardens back into Ferelden.  Personally, I don't see this being the case.  If Genevieve had brought new of a Blight instead of her request, I highly doubt Maric would of turned her away.

It makes me wonder if perhaps his promise had to do with his sudden departure.  If Flemeth is indeed able to foresee the future then she would need Maric out of the picture for the betrayal at Ostagar to happen.  Maric would of never allowed such a foolhardy plan to be put into action.  Yet for Flemeth/Morrigan's DR to work Flemeth would need limited Wardens in a desperate situation.

This is my pet theory, too.  I think Flemeth told him he needed to go fall off a cliff, because his children would defeat the Blight and not him.  It may be why he was so distant to both his boys, too.  If you knew you weren't going to be around for them very long, you wouldn't want them to grow attached to you.  He may also have been thinking of that prophecy and thought that by keeping his distance he could avert it.

I'm a fan of the Dark Brotherhood and the Chinese Stealth Suit, myself.  Posted Image

I play rogues fairly heads-on, however.  I do stealth in to set up the attack, but I try to get them to where they're deadly with a backstab or not.  It just feels to me like rogues have more versatility.  You can play them sneaky or you can play them as skull-crushers.  Awakening showed the greater range of rogues very well IMO.  Sigrun and Nathaniel FTW!

I generally love to tank but I've yet to play through as a S&S fighter.  I just love rogues in DA too much.  I also like the fact that as playing one I'm not dependant on having another in my party.  I generally try to bring along the companions that will offer the most dialogue during the major cut scenes.

Words can't say how much I love Flicker in Awakening.

Good one!  I always let Alistair kill the ogre in RtO, too.  Even if he doesn't know that this is the beast who killed Cailan and doomed Duncan, it just needs to happen that way.

So, upthread we were talking about theme songs.  Since this playthrough is my "Chani" game, I'd have to say that my unofficial theme song for it is Inama Nushif (She Is Eternal).  I can just pretend it's in elven rather than Fremen.  Posted Image  Since the song is about Chani's sacrifice, it would be more appropriate if I did a US ending.  That's not going to happen, however.  My DEF's sacrifice will be enduring a lifetime of the political wife plus whispers in the corridors about the king's elven wh*re.

I would add that I wouldn't mind seeing James McAvoy play Alistair in a Dragon Age movie!

He'd have to bulk up, but actors do that all the time.  He's still dreamy and has the accent.

I honestly have no idea, who i would pick to play Alistair. McAvoy is a good actor, but i just can't see him in that role.

Heath Ledger (if he weren't dead) might have made a nice Alistair.
