Addai: that is the "accurate warden tattoo" from nexus, though I didn't create the morph. I like the stubble and blue eyes. Plus I just like to change him up for each character. Not a lot, just little things.

Oh, blue eyes??  The shot is a little dark, it's just hard to see the detail.

yukidama: I guess it's not "manly" to show emotion. Game Informer named him like one of the 10 top game wussies or something like that. You should read what they wrote about him!

I think I'll not.  I'd like to know what novels these people read, that they think characters have to be plastic stereotypes of the masculine ideal or else they're not interesting.  Or maybe they don't read and that's the problem.

Yeah, I don't really understand that either.  Alistair's Fade sequence is my favorite out of everyone.  It's so sad yet at the same time sweet.  He instantly reconizes his fellow Warden and admits he was thinking of he/she.

I hadn't thought of that but you're right.  It's like he ties the image of his fellow Warden to his idea of home.

As for Wynne's Fade dream... since you have to have her along, all I can say is thank the Maker for the Esc key.

Personally I think flawed characters are more interesting than ideal heroes. Off the top of my head I can think of two characters which were highly flawed that I absolutely adored Setzer from FFVI and Shu from Suikoden II.

Now I'm curious. I never read my GameInformer copies since the news is usually old for anything I am actually interested in.

But yeah, I don't understand this whole bullsh*t about being 'manly'. It's such a stupid attitude to have IMO, that a man can only be xyz and if he is a little bit of a or b he's not a 'real' man. Whatever. Give me a 'wussy' character over generic emotionless, neckless space marines any day:whistle:.

Then again I don't see expressing emotions as a negative. If a man wants to cry, let him cry dammit.

Article GI issue 202 pg 37: Top 10 dorks of 2009, Alistair, also known as "new Carth," Alistair has two modes of communication: whining and cracking wise. The problem: his jokes aren't funny, and his whining is only entertaining when he's being a crybaby about you making fun of him. Sorry, Alistair- have fun sitting with Sten in the party camp, loser!

That just makes me mad.

And from a newer GI, issue 204 pg 10: (After recieving angry letters) "We were going to use this opportunity to make fun of Alistair yet again, but if dozens of women are willing to write in to defend his honor, the dude must be doing something right. This could be an important revelation for all you single gamer guys out there: If you want the ladies to think you are adoreable, all you need to do is act like a stupid wiener."

Sigh. I think it's funny that the people who are quickest to judge are the ones who are antagonistic toward him from the beginning. What kind of reaction are you expecting from someone when you're being a d*ck? It's like if I based my opinion on Morrigan based solely on the responses I get when I'm openly hostile toward her. It's dumb and I'm not getting any sort of depth from the character except that we hate each other's guts.

Or, you know, not be a macho meathead jerk who treats women like property/lesser people :D

Eh, whatever.  No doubt these are the kind of people responsible for the fact that every movie that comes out of Hollywood has a gazillion dollars worth of special effects and zero story.  A pox on them.

I think you hit the nail on the head.  It's ppl that are playing as over all dicks that are getting that kind of reaction from Alistair.  Personally I don't see the appeal in making everyone the PC encounters hate them.  I find it much more rewarding to win over the companions friendship.  This is especially so at the gates before the AD fight.

I lol'd at this because it's so true.  I won't even rent a movie unless it's from a Red Box; most movies these days aren't worth more than a dollar.

Comedy nowdays sucks. And there are just a handfull of newer movies that I love. I wish Mel Brooks would make another movie.

It's kind of funny that that review puts both Alistair and Sten in the doghouse as... what? Sten is wimpy, too? Or what other flaw is he supposed to have, geniuses?

Sten and whimpy don't belong in the same sentence. Unless it's "Sten BEAT UP the whimpy........"

I would of thought Sten is basically the epitome of manliness. He's tall, sturdy, stoic and shows little emotion other than impatience.

GameInformer are pretentious snobs, they have no credibility.  A real group of men's men, who sit in a darkened room all day reviewing games, drinking budweiser and surfing the internet for porn.  You are great role models!

I tend to pick certain directors, actors, and novelists and then follow them slavishly.  I'm very picky, which is why I haven't seen a lot of TV or movies nor played hardly any video games (to my husband's dismay).  But as I see it, storytelling is a sacred art and those who do it well should be rewarded.  Those who use it flippantly are heretics and should be burned at the stake.  Posted Image   My time is also well spent following a good story and too valuable to waste on junk.

I just enjoy my game. If others have fun the same way I talk with them about it. To each his own. I have been in a couple of arguments on the boards with people so carved in stone they only see THEIR way as the right way but after a couple posts I just kind of shrug. It isn't worth getting into it with someone on the net and I feel the same about reviews from people who talk like their opinion is the ONLY one that matters. Arrogant jerks.

You know what I've notice too? The ppl that complain the most use the worst possible party combination for what they're trying to achieve w/ their Warden. They'll be trying to play as evil as possible w/ Alistair, Wynne and Leliana in the group or the opposite that they'll try playing as good as possible w/ Morrigan and Sten.
