And from a newer GI, issue 204 pg 10: (After recieving angry letters) "We were going to use this opportunity to make fun of Alistair yet again, but if dozens of women are willing to write in to defend his honor, the dude must be doing something right. This could be an important revelation for all you single gamer guys out there: If you want the ladies to think you are adoreable, all you need to do is act like a stupid wiener."
Heh. Or you can roll a woman, try the romance, and start taking notes.
I can't believe I missed the pg 300 turnover. This is what I get for being lazy and taking a nap.
Super Strategic Sword Placement:

Anticipating Goldanna:

He's bracing for impact and Brand is wondering how angry he'd be if Goldanna had an "accident" shortly after they leave.

well thats just stupid planning on their part But maybe they want the evil to be pissing off their companions as much as possible. In that instance its not evil but stupid they are playing.
Exactly, the game its self can hardly be blamed for ppls own stupidity. I should make that into a signature.

LOL my first signature was born from a thread where someone was complaining about the people who enjoy the romance in the game (I understand this thread rose from this person trolling the Zev thread). Then a bunch of Zevran (and Teagan) fans began to annihilate the troll. As Cailan would say
*Shakes head* Glorious!

Of course because it's pathetic if women find in game romances amusing but it's fine when men oogle over things like Hot Coffee in GTA. Oh sweet sweet irony...

They are jealous. Period. Especially after that second one.
That's exactly right! Bioware wasn't stupid when they wrote Alistair. He is strong, yet sensitive, totally non controlling, yet will stand up for himself or his friend/love when needed. He doesn't treat a woman like a damsel in distress, and respects women in general. maybe if more men had those traits they wouldn't be single eh? I know it's why I married my husband. And good lord, Alistair is emotional...so what? That makes him less of a man? Have they ever heard of PTSD? What's that make guys that come home from war with it? I'm no expert here, luckily my hubby has no signs of it *knock on wood* when he was here for R&R but some of Alistairs "whining" is well deserved. His father figure was killed, his brother was killed, he sat helpless while you presumedly hovered between life and death at flemeth's. Sure WE didn't know it was his brother, but HE did. And as proven by his attachment to the idea of Goldana before he ever met her, that means something to him.

I play "good" characters generally, and I think you can do the game with any number of combinations. I actually like a mix of opinions. Do I want a bunch of sycophants following me around?Serissia wrote...
They'll be trying to play as evil as possible w/ Alistair, Wynne and Leliana in the group or the opposite that they'll try playing as good as possible w/ Morrigan and Sten.
I've always liked Alistair because most of my characters can relate to him well. I don't need to agonize over the Loghain decision, for instance, because I simply agree with Alistair on it. But even my PCs who married him were at odds with him in some things. HNF thought Duncan was a bastard, didn't want to be a Grey Warden, and was given to shady dealings. She learned from Alistair, though, and I think he would profit from her harder edges.
The thing that gets me about complaints about his supposed wimpiness is that if Alistair never revealed how he felt about his upbringing or Duncan or the kingship, just what is his story supposed to be about? That's why it makes me think that what people really want is no story at all. Or they want something larger than life and not an actual (pixel) person.

Exactly. You can sometimes just hear the tone with which the word fangirl is typed. Now, I can sympathize with the kind of amused horror that men and certain women feel when something is too girly, and I don't consider myself a girly kind of woman, but the fallback opinion seems to be that if women like something, then something is wrong with it.Serissia wrote...

Ok...so we need a mod to 1.execute Anora 2. Make Alistair and Bann Teagan dance naked (preferably at Anora's execution) 3. Make something bad happen to Goldanna.

See above about Teagan and Alistair dancing nude at Anora's execution. Wait that would be more "Ferelden's got talent"KnightofPhoenix wrote...

Or "Do you htink you can dance" Ferelden version.
Idol needs to be about singing and about Simon insulting people.

Hmmm. Loghain as Simon?
Naaah, I like Loghain but he is not Simon.
You need a really sarcastic person that would put Morrigan to shame and have full mastery of the British accent, in order to sound even more condescending.
