Seeing how this thread has stagnated for a bit, I guess I should post a provocative pic (note, this is only for joking purposes and not to be taken seriously. I just want to test a new meme I discovered. So don't kill me lol).

That's too funny! And, man, that picture is pretty much the definition of "Derp".
Anders puppy face edit:

I saw this expression and thought, "Dammit, mage, do I have to love you, too?"

He is amazingly fun to banter with... it really caught me off guard. I was never too fond of the romance with him because it seemed so stereotypical to me, but he takes the most relentless teasing quite well--better than what I expected out of the personality I came to expect of Alistair my first playthrough.
Such as... "You grew up in the chantry... have you ever?"
"Ever what?"
"Sex?" His reply is pretty amusing--I honestly think he'd been sitting on that 'one-eyed basalisk' and 'lamppost' joke for a while.
And then when he's talking about being raised by dogs and you make fun of his body odor and breath--and he takes it in stride. That was a pleasant surprise too. What surprised me even more was when in that conversation, he asks about the PC's dreams, I replied, "only ones where I'm strangling you." And... +approval! It's just interesting--I really never expected him to have a snarkier sense of humor.
Anyway. That's my two-cents for the evening. Night all.

This is exactly why I love him so much. I liked him before but, once I realized that you can *poke* and he responds well, I was head over heels.
I mean, the first time I got the rose I did all the polite, romantic responses and thought "Sweet! This man is very sweet." Then I tried the less obvious ones, like asking if he was feeling thorny and if the rose meant we were married. The responses were still positive but much more fun, IMO, and it really changed the way I viewed him.

Reguarding something that actually made me do a second romance playthrough with alistair (probably for my own good, seeing as I've romanced leliana and zevran about 2-3 times each... wow. I need to get a life. *cough*)...

Haha, I think most people avoid jokey or not overly polite conversation options with him thinking he is going to respond negatively. His funniest moments are if you poke fun at him or go along with his jokes. Many people don't pick those lines because they think he'll get offended since he is percieved to be so whiny/sad/whatever and they miss out on a lot IMO.

Warden: Where do you see this going between us?
A: You know where it's going. I'm going to be king. And what it means beyond that... I don't know yet.

A: I'll tell you one thing: I don't intend to let you get away, if that's what you're thinking. King or no king, I'll find a way to make it work.

PC: I won't let you go, Alistair, no matter what.
A: Nor I you.

I think you're right. You can actually during his confession of his feelings tease him about hitting him with a stick or a cane and he STILL loves you.

Squee time! Please look away if you don't want to be spoilered about the incredibly sexy, squeelicious response to "where do you see this going between us?" after Ali has been declared king and the Warden agrees to remain his mistress (Ali hardened, of course). This is now officially my favorite Alistair dialogue.
Warden: Where do you see this going between us?
A: You know where it's going. I'm going to be king. And what it means beyond that... I don't know yet.
A: I'll tell you one thing: I don't intend to let you get away, if that's what you're thinking. King or no king, I'll find a way to make it work.

Awwww!! Ya know, Awakening (IF it wasn't backwards scripted epilogue slides), plus this...makes me think the mistresses are going to have it better than the Queens.

Then again, I haven't tried this dialogue post-LM on an HNF consort character. Maybe it's similar?
