This time I fully sided with Jowan. It was my attempt to not hate him from the first word he spoke. I learned alot about him this way though. He may have changed my mind just a little. It does however clarify things with regards to some perceptions I've seen about Irving when you side with him against Jowan.

Jowan. I just can't play a snitch. I'd never respect her afterwards.Serissia wrote...

Usually I go with Irving (as it seems to create more drama for me) but the last time I sided with Jowan. I haven't finished that playthrough, she is still in Ostagar (I was playing on my oldest's laptop while I waited for her to finish work).
Have you asked Teagan (as a mage) to let you execute Jowan? You can, and can go down and talk to him and he will tell you why he chose to become a blood mage (and his last thoughts were about Lily). Jowan is definitely a lot more likeable for me after 5 complete mage playthroughs.

Interesting. Too bad you have to kill him to get that dialogue!sylvanaerie wrote...

BTW it looks like Amazon Curves is only released for human females, at least the Natural Bodies-compatible one. Since I'm playing elves these days, it won't solve my scrawny-limbs problem.

After resolving the Connor issue (in any of the three possible ways) there is a dialog option when you are talking to Teagan to say "I think he should be executed". And then Teagan will agree and you can ask to do it yourself. Go down to the dungeon and speak to Jowan and ask him (I think the line is "Why blood magic, Jowan?"). and he will tell you.

There was a discussion in another thread about Irving betraying you, and I said that him sending you with Duncan was a reward, he planned it. Because he SAYS if you help him you'll be rewarded. Siding with Jowan proved it.

In the mage origin...I know that you couldn't do this for gameplay reason but the character herself should have just been able to decline helping Jowan without feeling the need to go tattle. Sort of like a 'I can't risk that much but I wish you luck' deal. When the mage gets caught I have a harder time feeling sorry for them than in the other origins (with the possible exception of the DE) because it would have been so easy to just not get involved.

Nope he is ready to die Its just a murder knife thing if you actually go through with killing him. (I have a couple times and a couple of times I let him wait to apologize to Eamon) All depended on how I RPed my PC and what she thought of the whole Blood mage thing.

I love the combat abilities playing as a mage gives you but I hate how you end up needing Duncan to save you. In the HN origin Howe betrays everyone and obviously you need assistance. In the CE origin you either get kidnapped or go save your cousin and bride from rape (well, almost...) and while you could have just waited either situation out passively - or just left once Soris saved you - you can hardly be blamed for not doing so. In the DC origin you really have no options that won't get you and your sister killed so while in hindsight you should have made sure to drug the fighter you were impersonating or knocked him out that was still done out of necessity. In the DN origin unless you somehow figured out that not only was Bhelen trying to talk you into killing Trian but he was prepared to frame you the very next day and had bribed half the Assembly to immediately seal you into the Deep Roads without a trial (and even the most politically savvy DN would have a hard time realizing exactly how prepared he was) then no matter what you get exiled. In the DE origin you really should have left and found the Keeper but since Tamlen wouldn't go it made sense to try and keep him out of trouble/talk him out of it and at least you weren't the one who touched the freaking mirror.
In the mage origin...I know that you couldn't do this for gameplay reason but the character herself should have just been able to decline helping Jowan without feeling the need to go tattle. I wish there had been an option C in the mage thing. But I guess the whole point was to drive home how some mages will do ANYthing to be free of the Circle's stranglehold. That Jowan does it for love not freedom just makes it more poignant when he loses the girl he loved. That was the only reason he was risking all of that.
No if you wait for Eamon to wake up he summnons Jowan to the main hall and makes his determination of the boy's fate there.

It's probably because I'm still slightly hung over but you lost me. It proves that he planned on betraying you or it proves that he planned on letting Duncan recruit you as a reward?

I agree. I don't like the mage origin at all. I hate having to chose between Jowan and Irving; they're both dicks. It's basically a choice between who do I believe is the bigger dick.
I want to play through as an elven Arcane Warrior but I can't decide what to do in the origin. If you go aganist Irving does he bring it up when you go to save the tower later on?

Can you still kill him personally if you wait until Eamon wakes up?
You can decide what happens to him, if you save Eamons family. You can say " He was a good man once and a friend" or call for his execution or just say you have no opinion. Arl Eamon will send him to the Magis Tower, if you save his wife and child. If they both die, then you have less of a say and Jowen is doomed.

What does that do? I'm a little tired of the regular spell lines myself, especially since there are a few like Lightning and Flying Swarm that are disappointing (I hate when enemies cast them on us, but as a PC casting them they are so wimpy). I was looking at the Haze spell mod.cmessaz wrote...

Anyway, we need a little Alistair. This head tilt is so cute. Elf mage is thinking: "I'd like to pinch his cheeks and then tackle-molest him." Alright, she probably wasn't thinking that. Although I do usually picture my mages as being a little rebellious and very horny with all their newfound freedom.

I think it's the second. After all, what greater reward for helping him could he give you than to free you from the Chantry's control? It's probably because I'm still slightly hung over but you lost me. It proves that he planned on betraying you or it proves that he planned on letting Duncan recruit you as a reward?
