Sadly I'm far away from that part. Deep roads come first.

Everyone else is either already aware that they're in a dream or is very easy to convince. But Alistair, he's the only one I've ever failed with! Poor guy....

But it's clear that if given half a chance, he'd run his sword right through you along with every other mage in the Tower. If you ask him why his attraction to you causes him such pain, he answers, "You are a mage and I, a templar. It is my duty to oppose you and all that you are." That's human, alright, but twisted human. His shame over his "weakness" helps fuel a powerful rage that, if you side with him in the Circle, actually flowers into bloodthirst.Lady Jess wrote...
Yeah, I did it this afternoon, but didn't see anything creepy. I saw a templar that actually showed human temptations and emotions, and desires. It was sad. Especially with Alistair there, since he'll tell you in conversation he was present at a harrowing. That kind of tells me he would have been a templar at the circle, it's not a far stretch to think that could have been him if not for Duncan. I think Alistair would have crushed on a mage. The creepy templars are to me, the robots...like at the doors.
Edit: It's nice that they give your PC at least a bit of facial expression when she's listening to Cullen. It's part "WTF?" and part sadness. And you do wonder what the LI is thinking. Zevran will make a comment here (about you being a temptress as an apprentice), but thus far I haven't found any other NPC who does.

Wynne is pretty traumatized, and so is Zevran. Zevran believes you that it's a dream, but he's paralyzed by the trauma of his memory. Sten knows it's the Fade, but doesn't want to leave, either.Sandtigress wrote...

But yeah, Alistair wants so badly for it to be true that it takes some doing for you to convince him it's not real. Someone pointed out a few pages ago, though, that he was thinking about the PC. He seems to tie in his memory of the Warden with his idea of home.

Sounds... bad.
I think the crying is before.
"Sensitive-Style" is when you cry during the act.
"Hard-Style" is where you both put on viking helmets and issue warcries.
I'm a big fan of "Top Gun" style.

He says that to the guys too, so I wouldn't read too much into it. It's probably just his residual memories from the tower, before the spell.Addai67 wrote...

Oh, I don't mean that he's thinking about it in a romantic sense. He'll say that the Grey Wardens were the only family he'd known, and there weren't any women in the order before your PC. I'm just commenting on an aspect of his character, not of the romance.Axekix wrote...

Do a search for the phrase "strip reality" and be prepared for perhaps the worst sex scene written outside of internet fanfiction where Kirk is an anthropomorphic ocelot or something.
Here's a spoiler, the scene ends with this passage:
"They embrace madly and sink to the sand. From the distance
it looks like a strange slithering creature crawling back to
the sea."

So, what do you think Alistair is thinking when you encounter the desire demon who's got the templar ensorcelled? The note on that guy's body if you end up killing him is so sad.
I don't think it's a coincidence that you see them shortly before you go into the Fade and eventually, if Ali is in the party, see his Fade dream. It makes it all the more heartbreaking, in fact. I suspect we are meant to see what Alistair might have become if he had not been recruited out of the templars.
This always struck me, too, Addai. Visiting the Tower has the potential to be almost as traumatic for him as it is the mage PC, but in a "this could have been me" sort of way. The first time I played the game, I was a little weirded out by his love for Duncan, considering he hadn't spent that much time with him. After doing the Circle quest, and seeing his nightmare in the Fade, I understood completely what Duncan and the Wardens represented to him-both family and freedom.

Yep, exactly. I imagine they both come away from that experience pretty stunned. And in the case of my mage PC and him, a lot closer together.SurelyForth wrote...

Alistair makes some comments early on about the doors being "Templar Plan B" and so on, but by that point his silence is pretty telling.

He looks good in Black Templar armor too. I always try to get him out of templar stuff though. I think Ali would rather be NBA than in templar get ups.

I agree, though he does carry his templar shield even in the Wardens. And in his coronation, strangely enough. I'm glad he's got Duncan's shield in Awakening, though.sylvanaerie wrote...

Oh BTW, about 200 pages ago we were discussing who was default ruler in Awakening. I had read somewhere here on the forum that Anora was ruler for an Orlesian Warden, but others here said it was Ali. I asked my husband and he said in his Orlesian Warden game, Ali was king. *phew* I was worried that if Anora was the default ruler, that was going to be made canon.

I think this is a "You men are full of sh*t, but I'm going to own this Harrowing so hard it doesn't bother me" face.
I don't know if she'll end up with Alistair, though. The first time I played her, she got the unhardened King Alistair treatment. I know he'll be hardened, but she might not want to be his mistress in the end.

Since I'm home with back issues, I decided to create a new mage (a revival of my first ever mage, actually). It's been so long since I watched the Harrowing cutscene that I forgot why my mages always feel like such characters:

She's really pretty Surely. Once I finish with my Valora 2.0 I will be making a mage, probably going to make her an elf though. I would like to get the elf options with Alistair since I have all these new mods. Maybe she will make Anora queen and she and Ali can go be GW's together.
Just finished the Crow quests in Denerim (FINALLY found the guy) I may intentionally ****** off Anora at the Landsmeet and still win this time...going to see anyway. I am about to go talk to Eamon and get the Kill Howe quest. Vengeance has been put off FAR too long this playthrough. I haven't even done Al's family quest yet. Wanted to harden him after the landsmeet. Has anyone done this before? Is it possible?

LOL I both like and hate that moment in the origin. Like, because any time you see facial expression on your PC it's a banner moment. Hate, because that is often the moment I decide something went wrong in character creation and I have to backtrack.I think this is a "You men are full of sh*t, but I'm going to own this Harrowing so hard it doesn't bother me" face.
Not as bad as if you've already done half the origin and decide that, though. I don't think there's any origin story where I Esc with such verve.

Although I have to admit, tmp's romantic tent scenes are good for this, too. My Cousland looks horrible!

I'll make new characters. I wanted to start over anyway, now that my mod folder is crammed with new stuff that hopefully won't cause my computer to burn ... or something.
I need to contribute to the NBA screenshot series.

I think I always use the last pre-set, which is why my humans come out so similar (my obsession with Morrigan hair and longer faces and noses play into it, as well). Thank you, though!

Yup, its possible. And you'll get slightly altered lines with Goldanna too. Definitely if you make him King, and probably if you don't, unless you have dialogue tweeks, in which case we don't know if that fixes the "game thinks Alistair is king anyways" bug. I'm actually really interested in finding out if this is the case, since I'm a PS3 player.
ETA: Ahhhh, another top of the page. Someone post a screenshot for me!
