Speaking of IA: IT IS AWESOME! I don't mean the Ali facemorph (which is awesome, too, it will never ever leave my override folder) again, but the whole atmosphere stuff.

I just started my new human noble Breanna and the Great Hall at Castle Cousland is just ... wow! What a difference! I'm only curious if I it will interfere with other mods. I have double-checked but you never know.

Everything about this picture is about 100% better than vanilla, IMO. I always hated the leather armor on the PC there and Bryce's clown outfit was repulsive.

Also, lovely PC!;) Morrigan hair is the best.

I'm actually very pleased with Breanna. She looks a little like her predecessor Brianna, but more natural. I love her. She'll be a good match for Ali.

Oh yes, top of the page and more Ali. Let's have a look. Alistair and Brianna.

I like her! I just wish IA gave us prettier noble clothing. Why are we in scratchy wool while everyone else is in silks?  Also, anyone using Charsen's Kisses? I can't tell if it'sworking or not and wanted to know what the differences are. My only Zev romance is past all conversations, and my Mage already dragged Alistair to bed because HE never asked.

Aw, I guess he takes criticism from Duncan hard.

That makes me kind of curious as to what Duncan thought of Alistair. I know he felt him competent to be a GW and worth risking the Chantry's wrath but what about personally? He had to know how high of a pedestal Alistair had him on.

If you let Anders run off when you first encounter him and then meet Oghren when it's just you and Mhairi, Oggy actually says something nice to the PC. I was shocked.

Really? Do tell.

I always get Dog all up in my stuff. I think I could handle Ali, though.

Lol, my character always get fused with Alistair when I speak to him outside of camp. But I also have many pictures of the dog's snout sprouting from my PC's stomach

If you tell him that it's good to see him he'll say:

"And you! It's been too boring since you went off to be a fancy-schmancy hero."

I guess by "nice" I was using the AwakeningOghren scale, but he sounds like he really means the "And you!"

Off the top of my head the only mods that should conflict w/ IA are the Obsidian's Nobler Noble, Of Noble Caste and any tint mods may make things look off since IA does some retinting too.

Yeah, I love IA and the Toolset now.  This is my current Warden Ashleigh in her battle gear.  Before the Landsmeet I'll switch up her hair to something more noble and take off the war paint.

I'm not sure I'd like to see my HNF in a dress.  I'm not crazy about Spartacus armor, but it fits more to Eleanor's wisecrack about you spending your days hacking at a practice dummy.

Charsen's gate kisses are sweet!  His new male dwarf one is adorable.  It just took a little tweaking to get mine to work with cmessaz's Combined Romance mod running.  The Zevran gates experience is so different than it used to be, thanks to ejoslin and Charsen.

This isn't a great shot but I keep it because I like the emotion on my PC's face.  I was so shocked at this scene I couldn't stop staring at the screenshots.

Edit:  Oh, and get Charsen's Zevran's Earring mod!!  It puts a real earring into your inventory, with stats for the various classes.  It even imported into Awakening.  Wish I could say the same for Alistair's rose.  I had this bright idea once while playing HNF in Awakening and looked in her inventory... no rose.  Posted Image

That's much better than Ander's 'I find that hard to believe' and Mhairi's 'as do I.' At least Mhairi had to put up with his crap for awhile before she started dumping on him. Anders just met him and all he's seen is Oghren effectively killing darkspawn. What the hell? I was almost tempted to turn him over to the Templars for that, actually. The Grey Wardens just don't need that kind of negativity and unprovoked hostility. Not to mention that a lot of his insults about Oghren are species-based and my dwarven characters don't like that one bit.

If you let Anders run off at the beginning does he come back later when Alistair/Anora show up or is he just gone?

I'm one of the firm believers that Alistair is indeed Fiona son and thus Duncan is generally sincerely fond of him.  Duncan comes off as very gruff I think to anyone that hasn't either talked with Alistair about the other Wardens and/or hasn't read TC.  Really more the latter than the former, TC gives Duncan's character a lot more depth.

Anders shows up right before you encounter the Withered. It's hilarious, as he's sort of watching from around the corner. He felt compelled to help, I guess.

I think both times, Oghren gets the first crack in at Anders (about him being a mage with a sense of humor). The second time there's no dwarf-ism, but Anders does point out that Oghren smells like whiskey vomit.

Didn't I read someone on this thread saying that the VO notes were full of "fatherly, affectionate" type comments about Duncan's lines with Alistair?

Oh, and while we're talking about Duncan, it's nice of them to put a "young Duncan" in the game via Daveth.  Just makes it that much sadder that Daveth doesn't make it through- he would no doubt have made a good Warden.

This is aww-worthy:

PC: I'm ready to begin the Joining ritual.
Duncan: Then you will need to locate Alistair and tell him it is time. I'm not certain where he went off to. Knowing him, I'm not sure I want to know. (said with a tone of fond resignation -- Alistair often gets into trouble)

LOL  Aww, indeed.  Thing is, Duncan is no doubt seeing himself in this (edit:  I mean, as he was when he was a young Warden).  Like when he was off shtupping the mage and stealing a dagger while Genevieve and the others were in a formal ceremony.

I think Duncan's past made him take pity of Daveth.  I liked Daveth a lot more than I liked Jory but I could tell right away that they were both red shirts.

I think in sine ways that Alistair reminds Duncan of himself at that age too.  Duncan was constantly causing Genevieve excess anguish with his antics.

Even pre-beard Duncan was awesome. Of course, if Alistair were the one to wander off in search of a lovely dame and some loot, Duncan might die from shock right there on the spot. If only Duncan was around to see his virginal templar turn into this:

Or even this (maybe not see, so much as hear about later, over a pint of ale):

Thats quite allright! I feel a city elf coming up...I just WISH I didn't have to get to the END of the game to get the full awesome of Zevromance. And I'm still looking for rogue leather that isn't skirty, Mord Sith looks awesome but I'm having trouble relating it to the game.

The beard was in training at the time.  Present, just not in full flower.

Alistair being so much like his dad, Duncan must have been reminded of him a lot, even though he only knew Maric once he was older and not as geeky.  But even then he was playing wingman to Maric with Fiona.  In my RP conception, Duncan took one look at my Fiona 2.0 and figured Alistair would be playing hide the magic staff before too much time was out.

I've always seen Duncan as comforting. He's so calm, and soft spoken. Gentle is a good word, but you know he'd crack down if needed (he even does THAT gently if you agree with Alistair about being in the battle). And I just LOVE that little sigh when the dress conversation comes up. Like he's thinking "Great...now I have two of them!"...lol

Considering Duncan's thing for mages he probably wanted to play hide the magic staff too.

I have to admit I actually lol'd at the end of TC when Gaider mention's Duncan's beard.  I was like that's just too epic.

Have I ever mentioned that I loved Duncan's relationship with Fiona in The Calling? I never thought they should hook up, but it was a very well-done friendship.

Anyway, I imagine that Duncan probably does see the most potential for an EM/HM and Alistair out of all the origins. Besides Maric's predilection and Alistair's own interest in the arcane, the mage origin is arguably the least traumatic for the PC.

Uh...a nice shot of Alistair and Brand with Duncan (before they go all DW on everyone):
