Thor-I don't know about that. Eamon is Alistair's father figure and he looks up to him. I bet eventually he would give in.
I don't. I think Alistair, who is in love with his wife would tell him to sod off. YOU are his family now, and I think as far as he's concerned your opinion matters more. Especially if you hardened him. Besides one of the options after you make him king with you beside him, and he talks to you after about heirs is "it's also not necessary", and he agrees, the VO in the toolset even says he's releived.

I can definitely understand King Alistair not staying with you in Amaranthine. Why Warden Alistair doesn't join you if we're pretty much letting anyone in out of necessity I still haven't made heads or tails of.
(Why couldn't we make a bunch of fodder Wardens before we get to the Archdemon in Origins anyway? :xxxx)
Well, in theory until Riordan shows up no one knew how. How all of the Warden's companions didn't die from the taint or become ghouls during Origins is anyone's guess.
I've never understood the whole Awakening and Warden Alistair senario. They could of easily incorporated a nonplayable Alistair that stayed at the Keep and was only interactable for conversation if they didn't want him to be a playable companion. It really wouldn't of taken that much more effort and obviously Steve Valentine had already been there anyhow to record the King's cameo.

Keep in mind that you can easily talk him into sleeping with Morrigan. That is why I think he would eventually break, no matter how bad he would feel about it. The "duty" lecture would get him eventually.
He can also decline doing the DR. I think the main reason he acquiesces is because the PC is asking him to...

I'm not upset about Alistair not being in awakening as king, but the Eamon comment gets me. Screw what Eamon thinks. I have to rule would be an acceptable excuse.
Yeah I fear I have to go back to my Eamon is a dick theory. Thanks for putting it back into perspective for me Serissia!
Ya but the very friendly way Alistair makes that remark, (doesn't he chuckle) and says "don't even tempt me like that, you minx" I don't think Alistair's mind are on the DS but the in-between tent sharing going on in Origins
Hey who know's

Well yeah, I mean after you kill Loghain (or not). By that point Riordan is there and after making such a big deal of taking all we can get because the Wardens are in desperate need of more people, blah blah blah AND has access to the materials he needs to make Wardens. He could have gotten volunteers right from the army we amassed or something, even if he only had enough blood to make a couple more.

This. Even Morrigan tells you she can't ask him because he hates her and would refuse. YOU can convince him to do it. YOU are the one he listens to now. And, if you're like me, you've already informed him that it isn't necessary to provide an heir. The whole heir thing isn't a "rule" it's a society expectation. Eamon is stuck in his ways, proven by "omg we must have THEIRIN blood on the throne or the world will end!!"...lol

Alistair (especially when hardened) I don't think would want to see either of you die regardless if you're friend/lover. He's probably thinking of Riordan too since he couldn't of anticipated Riordan's IMMAFLYTHROUGHTHEAIRLOL attack on the Archdemon.

It's amusing how much emphasis is placed on the Theirin bloodline but everyone is perfectly fine with letting it end right there if Alistair is executed. It may be an important symbol, but clearly not an absolute necessity.

If he is in love with you and you play that card, he will accept no matter what. The point system is in effect for other scenareos, like the landsmeet. But it is very easy to convince him. I just felt that wasn't emotional enough anyway. How hard would it be to ask the man you love to have sex with another woman? He agrees to easily to me. But maybe I am just nuts. The same with the Anora marriage. The more in love with you he is, the more likely he is to accept. That doesn't make sense to me either.
He oonly agrees easily to me when I'm romancing him. I've actually failed the persuade check on a rogue that wasn't. She ended up sacrificing herself. I learned quickly after that to choose persuasion and LOTS of cunning...lol

Speaking of the DR do you guys usually tell Alistair it will produce a child or just leave it vague?
I usually tell him flat out. Morrigan's comment about honesty not being the path she would have chosen cracks me up.

My queen tells the truth, the rest do not. Just use the love card and he will agree regardless. Set up that way in the toolset.Serissia wrote...

Eamon just likes to hear himself talk obviously since most of the endings end up w/ Alistair not having a legit heir.
Alistair solo = possible legit heir
Alistair/HNF = unlikely legit heir
Alistair/Anora = unlikely legit heir
Anora solo = leaves Alistair as a Warden, dead or banished
Anora/HNM = leaves Alistair as a Warden, dead or banished
Alistair + romance and no DR = dead Alistair

I never use the "If you loved me..." line. I already feel uncomfortable asking him to do it, I'd rather be honest than guilt him into it.

As far as the love line, I don't use it either since I max out persuasion early.

See I didn't get that feeling. He's almost fighting and kicking all the way to Morrigan, even the scene he's not thrilled but he loves the PC and if this is the only way that theres a chance that he's not going to lose her then he's willing to do it.
When he asks Riordan "what happens to the Grey Warden" when Riordan tells you about the killing blow to the AD, Alistair's already got it in his mind that he's going to lose again and in order for him not to go through the loss of losing someone else he loves, he's already convinced himself to do the final blow until you bring him this offer. He's thinking just maybe there might be a way out even if he is reluctant about sleeping with Morrigan and the whole baby thing.

I always say that I will take the final blow. And it was disappointing to me that there was little or no emotion in that moment. I have always said that it seems like they sort of dropped the ball after the landsmeet, like they ran out of time and money or something. The earlier parts of the game were better in my opinion. And the bugs................oh maker I still dream of the bugs...Thor Rand Al wrote...

LadyJess, the toolset says that he is not angry about it.
