Nice, thanks, both of you :)

Too bad no female support. I've strongly considered playing through as a male at least once, but haven't managed to force myself to. That might make it more bearable.

Wow, we are that bad?

I was thinking the same for Duncan's armor.  It's close to what I'd like for my mage character, but that is only supported for human males.

I think I'm going to pretend that Wings of Velvet has some chainmail bits to it and isn't just a noble dress with different coloring.  The belt looks metallic, so it could work.  I would switch her over to armor, but the magic stats are just too good to pass up for now.

I was using Wings of Velvet on my Elf Mage, but on my human, I took a different approach with the Rashanta stuff and a staff I pulled from the Awakening resources.. Maybe I should make her my icon lol.

(and yes, I like that hair too much maybe)

I haven't either...in any game that has female protagonists available, thats what I play. I just can't be a boy!

I don't know, most of the modded mage stuff is too colorful and too plain* for my tastes. I actually like the noble clothing from IA. It looks very rough, like wool and leather. I don't like the clothing that is propably supposed to be silk, it ends up looking like plastic.

Edit: * What I wanted to say is that it doesn't look like fabric (in the screenshots, never tried in game, I might be wrong), it seems to have no natural pattern that might give away the material. That's why I like the IA noble clothing, not very noble but you can see what it is probably made off. DAO is not very good when it comes to clothes anyway.

How can it be both too colorful and too plain? o.o

I really enjoyed playing through with a male, actually. Alistair is cool as a friend and I truly don't understand why men don't like him. The only thing I didn't like were the romances. Morrigan was fine but the ending sucks. And Leliana, well that is just creepy. But as far as being able to RP a male, it is difficult I suppose.

A lot of guys do like him actually. But for those who don't, I can understand why.

And romances can be sad and still be good. I wouldn't say the Morrigan romance is bad just because the ending is basically a heartwrenching slap in the face. My Ali romance playthrough ended pretty much just as badly, but it's still my favorite story.

Yes, I suppose Alistair's does end badly. I practically needed therapy my first playthrough after he dumped me. Even if you both live, he had to sleep with another woman. And the mistress ending has potential to be very heartbreaking in the future.
As far as men not liking Alistair, I guess that depends on the person. Maybe he's not manly enough for some, I don't know. I thought he was more fun to be around as a male.

KoP, I think the difference between man and women is apparant here. I would be pissed.

I never get Alistair to seem like a real friend unromanced...as a female, it makes me  sad.

You can't really advance the same as a female, without activating the romance or pissing him off. The virgin thing is far different for a male, you can ask him those things without him hitting on you like he does if you are female. It is really cute if you belch when he calls you a pig.

Oh I liked Lel fine until I woke up to her staring at me while I slept. I just don't like this delicate girl thing they did with her. To get the best approval, you have to say you will protect her. What ever happened to miss bard bad a**? Again, would depend on the person. I didn't like her much as a character. Morrigan is more interesting, and tough.

No I apreciate tragedy, but as a man I would be pissed at her for not telling me everything. I may even have Alistair bed her. Maybe I just think different than everyone else, as I hate the mistress ending with Alistair and would rather end the relationship, and people think I'm nuts for it.

Badasses don't want to feel loved and protected?

I am a very strong headed person who is trained in kickboxing (sorta spurred into that), and I certainly like to feel safe, loved, and protected. Maybe I can take care of myself (within reason), but.. well.. it's a good feeling, and I don't blame her for wanting that.

As for staring at you.. have you not spent the night with someone you loved and woke up early, and then find yourself not wanting to get out of bed? I have, a few times, certainly.. and I was just so, so in love, I could just stare at her forever, and just get lost in her peaceful face.

Leli loves you on a super powerful genuine scale. She's not trying to be creepy, she certainly isn't stalking you.. she's just a creative, poetic person who happens to be head over heels for you.

Not seeing the issue.

I'm honestly on the same page with you on this one. I appreciate the tragedy of it all, but if I were ACTUALLY in that situation, and he dumped me.. there would be so much furious hell raining down on him. Screw what the banns think, if you truly love me, don't pull this ****!!!!

lol Yea, no. Letting Alistair bed her would be relinquishing our Alpha male status and I would certainly not allow him to lay a finger on my Morrigan. Well...except that he is dead by that point....
Well I wouldn't let Loghain lay a finger on her.
If she is going to have a God baby, then it's going to be from my PC's seed. Last thing I want is Cailan genes in a God baby.

Sure, I would have been pissed at her vagueness. But I would be more sad than pissed.

Thank the maker! See there is someone else who thinks this way! I am saving the bloody world but I am not good enough to be with the King? I wouldn't want to settle for being the king's mistress. I ALWAYS either allow him to dump me and move on to Zev, or let him sac himself for me. The mistress is NOT a happy ending for a character that saved the world.

Yeah, if I can't A) be queen or B) run off with him without putting him on the throne, I move on to Leli. you know, someone who will actually be dedicated to me and not pul high school BS if things get too tough to figure out easily.

What sucks is the crap with Awakening. I only play if I am queen, because otherwise there is 0 continuity. The ending mentions the romance, but there is nothing on where your lover was throughout the whole ordeal. No letter or anything. I guess if you romanced Morrigan you could make it work too. Awakening had potential because it was a good story. But ditching all of our story from Origins was a bad idea.

Everyone is different.

I'm bi, and lean towards women in general.. Leli is the only female romance option for my characters but even if she weren't.. I happen to find her general personality and attitude very attractive and alluring.

Morrigan is... yeah, no.

Alistair is a great guy, but he has some flaws that would be deal-breakers in the real world, such as dumping you because it wouldn't be popular with a bunch of stodgy nobles.

Zevran just.. better as a friend for me. I don't find him remotely attractive. Just not my cup of tea. I did his romance once to see how it turned out. Well written, just not something that falls within my preferences or tastes.

So when I play it's always Leli or Alistair. right now, I'm playing through with Alistair.

I have to say, one of Leli's best qualities is what a good sport she is. She isn't spiteful or nasty if you split up with her (or she with you when forced to choose), and then afterwards she will just try to be the best friend possible and even gossip about your lover with you. It's endearing.

Actually, from what I see most people absolutely hate the mistress scenario. I find I'm one of the few people who doesn't really mind it. Not that it's a spectacular ending, but there's more than one way to play it. I've done it once, and my PC's thought process is that she's done too much and given up so much that she's not going to toss aside the only person she really gives a damn about. She'll sacrifice some dignity to stay with the person she loves, and since being queen is distasteful to her, the other woman can have it. She'll stay on to advise Alistair, not just as a chancellor, and not just as the one who loves him most (and whom he loves most) but because she'll be the only one in court with his best interest in mind. It's not a picture perfect ending but I suppose to that particular PC, the alternative is much worse.
