What sucks is the crap with Awakening. I only play if I am queen, because otherwise there is 0 continuity. The ending mentions the romance, but there is nothing on where your lover was throughout the whole ordeal. No letter or anything. I guess if you romanced Morrigan you could make it work too. Awakening had potential because it was a good story. But ditching all of our story from Origins was a bad idea.

I'm a writer, so I tend to make up my own story to fill this in anyways.

While I agree they didn't put in enough effort to explain where Leli or Zev were (well as in, they put in zero), I'm okay with making up my own mind about it.

For my last mage playthrough, she chose Title and Riches and became Teyrna of Gwaren.

I modded myself a new necklace with the exact same stats as the Blood Gorged Amulet that I was using, but called it the Seeker's Circle and gave it the same description as Leliana's personal necklace. I added onto the end of the description that she gave it to my character while she was away. What was Leli occupied with that she couldn't come to Amaranthine with me? She was acting as the Seneschal of my Teyrnir while I was away. Someone has to run it while I'm off playing Arlessa :P

This is what drove me to install the mod that lets anyone marry the king. I haven't used it yet, but the more I consider it, the more it feels ok. Because dammit as said above, I did save the world here, I united the nobility, I gathered the armies, I brought an entire country together to bring down a blight. I realize Bioware couldn't allow everone romancing alistair to have the happy ending, but it could have been available for non HNF in active romance via extra requirements in an existing quest (say you have to have x amount of supporters during the Loghain thing...max is what...4 or 5?, or have to have saved that nobles kid or something), or a second and maybe 3rd persuade check at the landsmeet after the initial "I'll rule beside him".

Maybe  I'll do it afterall. Otherwise I'll likely never play awakening again. Besides, what's the worst it's going to do if/when we do have our party back? forget we're married? oh well, we'd still be in love and I'd FEEL better in Awakening:?

I have romanced Leliana as a female and as a male. It worked better as a male for me, I don't know why. As far as Alistair, I love his character and can relate to him, except with the break-up thing. It is unlikely that he would even be able to produce an heir anyway, and he breaks up with his "true love" for a slight chance that he might be able to? And again, we are talking about someone who saved the world. Technically not just Ferelden. I think I would even be ok with not getting to marry Alistair, but being his mistress as the hero of Ferelden doesn't work for me.
Zevran, yeah I have to morph him to be completely honest. His character is a lot better now that I have ZDF though. So it's not so bad to romance him now.

Awakening is a big freaking wreck for me. Even as queen. I am not overly creative and am not good at filling in the blanks.

Back to the mistress thing, sharing the man you love with another woman doesn't bother people? I won't do it. I have RPed many characters and have done the mistress ending, but in my mind they don't stay together long as she can't stand sharing him. I would rather put up with heartbreak from ending it than daily heartbreak wondering where my love is and what he is doing with his "wife" and if he is thinking about her when he is with me, etc.

I'm finding the morph in IA is perfect. Just a little change, but it lessened some of the oddness about his face.

Oh I liked Lel fine until I woke up to her staring at me while I slept. I just don't like this delicate girl thing they did with her. To get the best approval, you have to say you will protect her. What ever happened to miss bard bad a**? Again, would depend on the person. I didn't like her much as a character. Morrigan is more interesting, and tough.

No I apreciate tragedy, but as a man I would be pissed at her for not telling me everything. I may even have Alistair bed her. Maybe I just think different than everyone else, as I hate the mistress ending with Alistair and would rather end the relationship, and people think I'm nuts for it.

Actually, from what I see most people absolutely hate the mistress scenario. I find I'm one of the few people who doesn't really mind it. Not that it's a spectacular ending, but there's more than one way to play it. I've done it once, and my PC's thought process is that she's done too much and given up so much that she's not going to toss aside the only person she really gives a damn about. She'll sacrifice some dignity to stay with the person she loves, and since being queen is distasteful to her, the other woman can have it. She'll stay on to advise Alistair, not just as a chancellor, and not just as the one who loves him most (and whom he loves most) but because she'll be the only one in court with his best interest in mind. It's not a picture perfect ending but I suppose to that particular PC, the alternative is much worse.

This yes, exactly. My PC (pick an origin) has already given up so much even her own identity (just try going to the corner market when everyone knows you are the Hero of Ferelden).  She refuses to give up the man she loves.  Esp not to Queen Glacier or Bannorn Bimbette.

I don't know, most of the modded mage stuff is too colorful and too plain for my tastes. I actually like the noble clothing from IA. It looks very rough, like wool and leather. I don't like the clothing that is propably supposed to be silk, it ends up looking like plastic.

What I'd like is something like Fiona is described as wearing, which is a mail shirt and "heavy skirt."  Wings of Velvet is actually not far off from what I was thinking, if you imagine the upper/middle as being reinforced.  It's too form-fitting, really, to be chainmail, but since there's absolutely no Arcane Warrior gear in the game, you do what you have to.  I just can't put my Warden mages in stripper outfits or chantry gowns.  Eww.

Think of how you would feel on a daily bases as his mistress. I couldn't deal with it. My PCs are all young and maybe naive, and might stick around for a while, until it actually comes time for Alistair to marry. Then they go. Again, create pain and let time heal it, instead of living with it my whole life.

I like the Wings of Velvet, very pretty and not too horrendously game breaking stats.  And there is that beautiful evening gown looking thing that you get with IA in Eiriks chantry chest.

Okay not armor...but I am a mage, I don't weild swords and wear heavy armor. I wasn't trained for that. Thats for the grunts like Sten and Alistair!  I'd rather have something that doesn't weigh me down if I get tossed down by an Ogre's blow and I can GET back up again!  It makes sense for me not to wear metal. That can get HEAVY!

The colors change slightly depending on which robes you are equipping.

Depends on the situation.  If it someone he doesnt' love he's doing it for duty, I couldn't leave him to deal with that all by himself? Gawd!  Better to let Anora keep the damn throne than to just abandon him once you put him there.  PC is his love.  Queen is just title of his wife.

He still has sex with her! And if the love was so important to him, he wouldn't try to dump her after the landsmeet! I guess I am old fashioned and don't believe in sharing. Just me! Awakening is sweeter for his mistress though. We ain't getting an heir anyway people. I have no problem becoming queen. You are a Cousland no doubt trained in politics. Good match.

I've said it before, but I actually like the mistress ending better than the queen ending. I'm almost to the point where I feel like becoming queen is a trap of some sort. My main HNF doesn't want to be queen, and she doesn't want the pressure of providing an impossible heir. She'll try her luck with Bimbo Bannorn and just see how things turn out. Even if the relationship is ended in the future, she'll have been with him for longer than she would have been otherwise.

From the way Loghain talks in Awakening, nobody is having sex with Anora.

I always figure if Anora's queen she never marries, so who says Alistair would? Ok, I guess he kinda mentions it, but I just don't picture him actually doing it....still, making a great case for screw the lore I'm marrying via mod...lol Only on my mages though. I can't do it with a CE or DE...just ...no.

I ended up having to remove that mod.  I have something that conflicts with it and it didn't look right.  And the color of the robe itself was all dull gray (boring).  The chain part of it was pretty and light silver (had to look closely to see it at all) but the cloth part was dull gray (on any robe) and shoulders were as black as ever.

Thing is, like I said above.. if this was real life, I wouldn't let him pul that crap.

If he loves me enough, then he can tell the banns to shove it and marry who the hell he wants (me, I hope).

Love is eternal and undying and I would always love him.. that wouldn't change, but there's not room enough in my life for him and his wife.

That's the duty talking, which you can talk him right out of. Heck marrying him you can talk him out of an heir being needed. He wuvsssssssss you.

There is no mention of Alistair marrying in the slide cards, but it would likely happen eventually. And I really need to play a HNM and marry Anora, even though I HATE her.

Aisynia has hit the nail on the head. Personal preference here I suppose is the theme.

ugh I tried that on a HNM and my stomach twisted up in knots. She isn't the devil Loghain is but I just don't like her. Also doing Unhardened Al at the Landsmeet (held off his family tquest till after) was HUGE eye opener to a LOT of things in the game. He isn't sure what to do with Anora and kind of offhand puts her in the tower to decide what to do later (send her away he thinks).

She admits she wouldn't have shown him the same mercy. **** never gets to be queen ever again in my playthroughs unless it fits my PC's personality. Not to mention her screechy inappropriate speech at the start of the final battle was just eardrum piercing....hate it hate it hate it.

SO its mistress or Queen from now on for me (if only to avoid the doctor's bills for the ear pain).

I'm trying to hold off that quest til after landsmeet...just hoping I don't forget and walk too close to her house. My mage has him at 100 adore, and isn't taking him to redcliffe (which I'll be doing last).
