Anora's VO for that speech was horrendous. Alistair! We want Alistair! .

Frankly, I thought they were both awful.

I didn't want to admit that on the Ali fangirl thread, but Alistair's VO wasn't great for that speech. Still it was better than Anoras. Martin Septim gave a much better speech in Oblivion.

I agree, even though it'll probably get us both run out of this thread for heresy ;). I think Steve Valentine, in particular, could have presented it better - it's the only place I felt let down by *any* Alistair line deliveries. I like the visual on Anora giving the speech, but the VA could have been better.

I also think I may be using the prank gifts to keep him in "Your desire is my command" territory, since I'm currently on the 360 and modless. *sigh* :) You know, just skim a tiny bit of approval off to get him off that icky "Something you need..." intro.

Actually it's one of two places I felt that his VO fell flat. The other was when he is presenting you in the post-coronation as the Hero of Ferelden.

"remains with us ssssteeeaalllllllllllluuuuuuuhhh.."

Uh, what? Really?

Worst line, by far, was going to the Tower if Ishal.  "Then we have to get to the beacon and light it ourselves!"  Geh.  That was awful.

His speech just before Denerim isn't great, but I understand it for the situation.  He's shouting and that makes it very hard to explore range and nuance.  If it were just an impassioned speech to a smaller group, it would have gone better.  But he's rallying a whole army.  You're gonna lose something there.

I don't mind the "well, we're in camp" line anymore after the toolset. He says it like that because he isn't sure what the pc wants to discuss, as it may be a bad thing. He is unsure.

You have the mod which opens all skills for all Origins serissia?

Nope, though I might if I do the Arcane Warrior.  It would be hot to have Arcane Warrior talents plus the Warrior S&S talents.

Usually I play a HNF dex/cun stealth backstab build and I am Ninja Assassin type badass.  Pretty much the only thing that instagibs me is Crushing Prison.

got a linkie to that mod cause that sounds useful to me.  At least one level of DW on my mage would make me more inclined to break out the daggers...

I LOVE playing that way. Problem is I can't throw bombs since the new patch, so being a rogue isn't fun for me anymore. So I went with tank this time through. Alistair is freaking sexy with Soul Calibur 2 handed sword. Ooooh baby. But it just isn't as fun as deul weild. Since you like the ninja type, do you have that katana sword mod? It is awsome.

I'm lame, I don't like the warrior class, only played one. But I do like swords. So I end up a duelist/assassin tanking rogue with two swords. :pinched:

Oh, I agree on the Tower of Ishal, though I didn't catch that till subsequent playthroughs - then I was thinking "Yuck, you can do better than that!!".

Of course, I didn't give Alistair much through as an LI on my first playthrough until he ninja-rosed me. *squee*

How does that work out for you?

Right now using just IA gear I can solo whole rooms of melee on Hard.  I solo'd that quest to steal Howe's silver bars at level 14.  I think I'm going to start this new game on Nightmare.  I think I'm going to get rid of pretty much all the modded armor my companions are wearing and just use what IA gives.

@Addai Fiona was more of an exception to the rule as far as typical mages go. In almost all stories, games and movies mages have always worn robes or light armor. They're also usually quite far back from the actual battle field. Look at the way Wilhelm would find a spot over looking the battle field than rain death upon his foes in TST.

I play my mages like Fiona, though- in the thick of things.  I really don't know how other games handle it, much of the gaming stuff I see is silly frankly.  Those WoW-type elves?  Don't even get me started.  LOL  But for example, in Oblivion, I always made my mages battlemages, and it's just how I see a Warden mage.  Blasting the enemy with a fireball one minute and decapping the next, it just doesn't get any better.

Man you people are making me want to break out Oblivion.

These are a bit different to install, but here is the link. They are AWSOME ingame, but conflict with the "HipHold" mod that I run.

Really? I'm having trouble in earlier levels because my rogue tends to be fragile. I get EATEN by casters if Al doesn't get there with me or ASAP if I get stuck somehow (frozen etc).  I'm just getting to where I can stun-lock, though, so that may be the trick.

I never tank as a rogue. I am sneaky, and love to throw bombs. Sadly the patch makes me CTD when I throw them.

Battlemages.

That's what my Amell should be, a battlemage in medium armour, but knocking the enemies unconcious with her staff - and magic of course.

WoW sticks w/ the typical mages wear robes.  I played frost for PVP and fire for PVE.  It wasn't really too different than Origins.  A PVP mage in WoW basically is always keeping up Frost or Mana Shield which is similar to Arcane Shield in Origins.

I'm used to the typical food chain in games
Warriors eat Rogues
Rogues eat Mages
Mages eat Warriors

I played WoW for years and switching to solo gaming (for many reasons) has been fairly easy.  Especially in a game like Origins.  It was easy enough for me to slip into any class.  I've just always really liked rogues.

Hmm, I think I am going to start an Arcane Warrior since it's the only combo I haven't tried really ever in any game.  I'm probably the only person in the world that hated Morrowwind and Oblivion.

This gives you some of the SandS and DW skills as an Arcane warrior, and look pretty cool. I like it.

Rogues are weak until you can stealth in combat.  Being able to basically vanish every couple of seconds and drop all agro is insane.  You can also chug pots while stealth.  I will take one 2-3 people using nothing but Dirty Fighting and Riposite.  You'll want to take Coup De Grace asap.

Aww.  Well, you'd think after the 50th time she says "I want you" (in so many words Posted Image), he'd get over that.
