I don't mind the "well, we're in camp" line anymore after the toolset. He says it like that because he isn't sure what the pc wants to discuss, as it may be a bad thing. He is unsure.), he'd get over that.

I play my mages like Fiona, though- in the thick of things. I really don't know how other games handle it, much of the gaming stuff I see is silly frankly. Those WoW-type elves? Don't even get me started. LOL But for example, in Oblivion, I always made my mages battlemages, and it's just how I see a Warden mage. Blasting the enemy with a fireball one minute and decapping the next, it just doesn't get any better.
This is how I play my mages, too. I genuinely like Reaper's Vestments (for an Executive Mage look) but I trade between that and Wade's Superior Dragonskin depending in how suicidal I feel like being.
I never though to DW on an Arcane Warrior (mostly because I rarely anything but my staff). Now I must try it.

I'm not sure you can. That would be cool though. Gotta love the Irving and Jowan dick fest.Serissia wrote...
Thanks for the AW mod it sounds perfect. This should actually be pretty fun since I've never played a mage all the way through. I just couldn't get past the whole Irving and Jowan dick fest that is the intro.

got a linkie to that mod cause that sounds useful to me. At least one level of DW on my mage would make me more inclined to break out the daggers...

Really? I'm having trouble in earlier levels because my rogue tends to be fragile. I get EATEN by casters if Al doesn't get there with me or ASAP if I get stuck somehow (frozen etc). I'm just getting to where I can stun-lock, though, so that may be the trick.
Rogues are weak until you can stealth in combat. Being able to basically vanish every couple of seconds and drop all agro is insane. You can also chug pots while stealth. I will take one 2-3 people using nothing but Dirty Fighting and Riposite. You'll want to take Coup De Grace asap.
Ok, so I'm getting out of those levels - and Coup de Grace was already my next skill when I level. Thanks!

Yeah, something is wrong here. Rogues can be fragile and still tear up the place, because high dex (and defense buffs if you can get them) means they don't get hit and faster attack speed (with Momentum especially) means things die before they can do you any hurt. You are a bit weaker in attack and constitution at the beginning than warrior class, but you should quickly catch up.UrsulaCousland wrote...

I'm lame, I don't like the warrior class, only played one. But I do like swords. So I end up a duelist/assassin tanking rogue with two swords.
How does that work out for you?
Right now using just IA gear I can solo whole rooms of melee on Hard. I solo'd that quest to steal Howe's silver bars at level 14. I think I'm going to start this new game on Nightmare. I think I'm going to get rid of pretty much all the modded armor my companions are wearing and just use what IA gives.
It's worked out pretty well on easy and normal at least. with duelist talents and dueling active I dodge and parry alot. Swords swing slower than daggers even with momentum up, but not too bad.

See, I guess that is where our opinions are different. I always thought there was a little attraction between Alistair and Morrigan, so it's sort of a secret dream come true for both of them.

You know what I like best about this shot? It's right before he turns and says "You... you're alive..." It's the moment that both of you realize you're the only Grey Wardens left in Ferelden (edit: and Alistair realizes he's not going to be left entirely alone, as he thought since your injuries must have been worse than his). Steve Valentine turns on the juice for those lines, too. Very emotional.

As far as the mistress thing goes, it fits best with my mages. They never expected to get married anyway, or even fall in love. So what they find with Alistair is above and beyond anything they thought possible. They are willing to keep him in whatever capacity they can. My HNF couldn't accept that. She knows that if only they weren't Grey Wardens, Alistair could marry her openly and it breaks her heart. She would rather not have to live with that pain every day, and so she completely understands and agrees with Alistair. It tears her heart out, but there you go.
And as far as saying he should be allowed to marry whoever he wants anyway and that's not how it works in the real world and he should tell the banns to stfu or gtfo.... No. The nobility, as a whole, will not accept an elven or mage queen. They won't. I think they're wrong and short-sighted, but that doesn't change the truth of it. At the moment Alistair breaks up with you, he is a very new, very untried king. He doesn't have the authority yet to be able to tell everyone else to deal with it. Maybe if he had time, if he could wait until his position was solidified, he could force the issue. But that's one thing neither of you really have.
Breaking up with you is awful for him. He hates it, but he cannot see another way out of the situation. He does it when he feels he is strongest to spare both of you even more pain. Props to him for doing that b/c none of my characters were strong enough or selfless enough to do it.
That's the exact same reasoning I used with my mage. If she'd had a problem being Alistair's mistress, she'd have broken it off the moment Eamon made it clear he'd be King.
I also agree that telling the nobility to stfu wouldn't work. There's too much racism left over between elves and humans. As for the HM, I imagine the Chantry would flip their lid if a mage became Queen. That whole "mages ruling over man" thing is part of what caused all those Exalted Marches against Tevinter. Even with the hero status, I doubt the PC could get away with it.

Would probably be fine on Hard/Nightmare as long as Alistair is picking up some of the agro. I generally play in real time (no pausing at all) on Hard. I'm about to try Nightmare though in real time.

Holy crap. Thats almost as accurate as the Howe/Frolo thing they had going in this thread yesterday.
I'm now imagining Loghain asking for a moment at the Landmeet so he can belt out "I did it My Way", just before he gets his head chopped off. The crowds in the hall are already out of their chairs in anticipation.

I just started my third mage a few nights ago and, rather than ratting him out to Irving like I did with the other two, I took his side this time and genuinely tried to help him. Oddly, I found Jowan far less annoying with this approach than I had when I was setting him up. It also made Gregoir's tantrum and my PC subsequently leaving the Circle for the Wardens make more sense.
I was still mad that Jowan lied about the blood mage thing though. <_<

The Alistair Plushie is real. David Gaider was sent three in february, check the thread below.
