Well, then there is his "favoritest mage ever"...  I suppose if Wynne ends up the court mage (*grumble grumble on behalf of my HNF*), she would eventually tell Alistair about her little problem.  I don't see him going all Silver Sword of Mercy on her.  He also doesn't object if you have a blood mage in your party, but then again no one in Ferelden does.

But then again, I haven't been obsessing over Alastair, analyzing his every word, so I might be wrong.

Ahem.  Whatcha trying to say?

I like both specs but I think I'm leaning towards Spirit Warrior. Partially because I honestly think Alistair would leap at the chance to learn it, and partially because it allows me to think up a lulzy as hell scenario wherein my Arcane Warrior mage and Spirit Warrior Alistair have to talk to the Revered Mother. I also have Alistair programmed to leap into the fray and destroy thing, I don't need him to watch my back/do Guardian sort of stuff. Ah well.

He probably wouldn't want to try such things though. There is a big difference between toleration of something and wanting do it actively.

That I probably have no idea what I'm talking about compared to you guys. Edit: in a backhanded manner, of course.

Then again, he's DW warrior in my games now. I wish you could cross-specc him into a warrior-rogue. There must be a mod to do this!

If there was a way to do that, hopefully it would be able to unlock those adorable stealth lines he has as well. <3

Alistair: I'm Mr. Stealth! [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/bandit.png[/smilie]
PC: You're Mr. Obvious! [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/grin.png[/smilie]

You can dual spec any character as long as you are on the PC and have the console enabled.

On warriors: runscript addtalent 4020 to unlock rogue.

On rogues: runscript addtalent 4022 to unlock warrior.

The script will affect whichever character you are currently controlling.

You can add rogue/warrior to mages and mage to rogues or warriors, but you will be unable to manually pick talents/spells. Only warriors and  rogues get access to the talent menu while only mages get access to the spell menu.

I usually dual class to in order to make 2h rogues (lots of fun when you have modded the speed of 2h weapons).

Somehow, we simply have to hear those.  *whines in any capable modder's direction*

What was the one...  "You want me to what?  Be QUIET?"  LOL  I'm reminded of Sticky in Fallout 3.

It seemed a bit out of character since dwarves are supposed to be not that common, but that just further supports how awesome he is. Certainly takes on a new meaning when he says he could think of reasons why a man would be so brave. :D

Well, there is his challenge to Oghren at the end of the game, which is pretty funny and shows that he likes dwarves.

Does Ali have any dwarf-specific lines?  The only one I can recall is the one about burial practices, in which he wasn't especially complimentary.  Sad since the same discussion he has with a Dalish PC is so sweet.  It was one of the first cracks in my DEF's "shemlen men=bad" armor.

I don't remember how to trigger this line (and I can't find this in the toolkit although I haven't really looked hard enough), but the dwarf noble does have the option to ask him if he cares for her despite her being a dwarf and he replies that he was worried that he was actually too tall for her. The dwarf commoner gets the "even though I'm a dwarf?" line and he says "especially because of that." (It's my understanding that the elves get the same line, too.) The last time I played a dwarf noble, I was surprised to only get the "especially because of that" line instead of the worry-too-tall line. I wanted to find it in the toolkit and see what triggered that and if the dwarf commoner had a different option that I didn't know of, but I'm not seeing it yet.

The only other thing I recall is the burial thing as has been pointed out already. If the dwarf does the ultimate sacrifice and Alistair is king, then he has a conversation with Rica or Gorim about the fact the king of Orzammar has asked for the body back so it can be buried instead of cremated. There's some kind of a "wtf" moment since dwarf players say "didn't we JUST tell Alistair that and he has to be reminded, wut? " It's waved on because Alistair has to share the same lines with Anora anyway and Anora wouldn't necessarily know about the burial importance to the dwarven culture.

Oh also, the last time I spared Loghain, I had 3 mages plus him on my way to the Archdemon, and decided to just cheat and dual class him to rogue for trap detection/disarm and lockpicking.

Oh yeah, I remember that now. I play enough dwarves, I certainly should.

Oh nooo.... you are challenging my computer capabilities.  *scared*  I've never tried using console before.  I think my husband might lock the PC if I start messing with that.

It's so tempting, though.  If anyone can post a video of ninja Alistair, I'll love you forever.  Posted Image

Enabling and using the console is amazingly simple.

The only thing that could compare to the evil of Cammen with The Beard, is maybe an Alistair/Loghain slash fic.

Which, knowing the cesspool that is FF Net, I'm sure someone's already got that in the works.

Oh, I'm sure.  "There's something of Maric in you after all..."  *eyebrow lift*

Gah!  Purge, purge...  Posted Image

Yes, well. I have a reputation to hold up and of course I know one:
Now, again as before [link] one-shot, NSFW, dub-con and yes, thoughts of Maric involved

To my defense, this time I had to look it up. I only knew where to find it.

Is it a bad sign I'd already read it? Then again, if you go by game alone you'd swear that Maric is the one Loghain's in love with, not that girl he mentioned once to try to guilt Eamon.

Aww.

I bet you also get the one, as elves do, where you can ask him, "You think I could care for a human man?"  It sounds like such a harsh question, but he gives a Posted Image response.

My prefered romance is always Leliana, but I go for Alistair about 1/3 of the time. class and race rarely come into it, and if it does, it's generally the opposite of what you would expect, just to make things interesting.

It always comes down to, first and foremost, the personality of my characters.

My one and only dalish ended up with an unhardened non-king Alistair with Anora on the throne, for instance. Used Dark Ritual and then they went back to her clan together (I'm sure that went over well).

Bhelen/Harrowmont

You know, soignee was writing a fic that had a lot of that vibe to it... And we all know one-sided(?) Endrin/Harrowmont is practically canon anyway.

I love all the companions in DAO -- they really add a lot of spice to a hack and slash type of game, but I'm also really ready to have a dwarf romance. I don't care if it's male or female. It gets a bit lonely being a dwarf in the game at times. I love Sigrun so much in Awakening. I have to redo my main dwarf's Awakening game because I didn't know about her quest being bugged and I haaaate Sigrun's epilogue card. I doubt we'll see her outside of Awakening, but I am willing to redo it just to make sure that all the dwarves in my games are taken care of. Oghren's a butthead in Awakening, but he's also my brother-in-arms. Gotta look out for family. ;)

I prefer Leliana as an LI for my dwarves while I prefer Alistair for my humans. Elves are a toss-up. I suppose I'm biased, as I like Leliana as an LI more in general, and I lean more heavily towards women in my actual personal life.. but there's just a certain cuteness about it to me, especially as a Dwarf Casteless rogue.

Even though I have yet to finish a dwarf PC, I agree.  My DNF would even have given Dwyn a tumble.  LOL

I had my DNF romancing Zevran, but even though there's that amazing kneeling kiss, it just feels "off."  Probably part of the reason why I haven't finished a dwarf game.

I do love Sigrun, too!

Some people just don't go for the syrupy sweet, the crazy, the religious stuff, the ninja love, etc., not to mention the creepy turn she takes when she finally talks about being a bard. But I won't persist in explaining if it's upsetting! This is supposed to be Ali love, anyway.

Not to mention the blatant if unconscious racism against elves and dwarves which only elves can confront her about. I still don't see why anyone would willing romance someone they knew had a life-long prejudice against them that they only realized when you point it out. I mean, yeah, she tries to change but that makes her a good candidate for 'friend' not 'love of my life.' And her devotion to the Maker gets really annoying to all of my non-Andrastian characters who get enough of that anytime they go anywhere without her babbling about it every five seconds as well.

Oh, Leliana is adorable. I like her upbeat attitude. My only RP issue with her is that she goes on and on about the Chantry, which makes my stone-dwelling dwarf keep her at an arms' length. It's just RP. I don't think it would be an issue with Brosca since brands aren't going to be accepted by the stone when they die. My last Brosca was single mainly because I was tired of feeling like I needed a romance and I wanted her to stay free in case they added a dwarf romance in the future. You know, like how it was with 6 romances being added for ME2 and everyone all of a sudden started making no-romance characters so they wouldn't be "cheating" on anyone. It would have been Leliana if I was in the mood to do a romance. Still might. I'm a bit burned out on the game and I have a ton of other stuff that needs to be done first before I fire up a new character. ;)
