Well, yes, they all knew, I am aware, but the only ones who do that are left all have their own agendas. Anora will only acknowledge it if keeps her her throne, Loghain certainly won't publicly, and Eamon as the opposition party is suspect, and could be easily seen as trying to put a puppet on the throne.

And yes, the point is to support one of the parties for their bid, I just wish as a human noble you had the option to say **** all of you and put yourself on the throne.

Also, in regards to Theirin blood being all that's needed, ummm... Bryce Cousland was almost made king instead of Cailin (who declined, making Cailin the only other candidate), and it seems pretty clear the only one who actually thinks that is... oh that's right, Eamon. In reality, it seems like most of the Landsmeet doesn't actually give a damn if you're a Theirin or not, since they almost made a non-Theirin king, if they man hadn't declined :P

Bryce Cousland was killed in the massacre at Highever. He was outlived by Cailan by however many days your Cousland takes to get to Ostagar. He was never considered for kingship after Cailan died.

It was after Maric died that Bryce Cousland was considered a candidate for the throne. Look it up on the wiki.

Blood is all that is needed to make a claim.  It has nothing to do with other options for making a claim, like huge amounts of respect and power.  That is how Anora plans to keep the throne, after all.  I'm not saying blood is the only way, just that it is a legal claim.  And plenty of nobles seemed to know who Alistair was.  Loghain couldn't crush them with any facts.

Also, with regards to Bryce, it says there was a following, but nothing seems to indicate that he was a truly serious contended.  Had he pushed the issue, maybe.  And with regards to Anora's claim, if it came down between a HN and her, I think the HN would probably have the stronger claim being from the oldest noble family in Ferelden, as far as we can tell.

He was considered over Cailan when Maric died.

Okay you confused me, you said Cailan not Maric. And its actually something Dairren says and alludes to it being more regard for your father than any real claim over the Theirin line.

Lady Jess: Going by the age David Gaider gave for Alistair, Rowan was dead before Alistair was born. If you want to be technical, that doesn't say she knew either. I think it's just part of the fiction that was made up to hide Alistair.

And see?  He has to swear off his claim for himself and his heirs.  they would have a claim, too, simply by having his blood.

I just did this scene. I dug up my old rogues landsmeet save and did it to take into awakenings. I have a ficlet in my head...sigh. But for some reason I have to PLAY it out to get there. And I STILL haven't gotten word one written for my darned other one. I don't have writer's block, I have complete brainlock.

As for what Gaider said...well dude needs to make up his mind. Maybe they're covering the Fiona thing up to hit us with later. Hey...maybe we have to do a protect alistair's throne/get Alistair ON the throne/hunt down wandering drunk quest in the future...lol Yeah, I know that doesn't quite cover dead Alistair...I just can't help but think we got as man options as we did with that ONE companion, that it's going to have more effect than just who shows up to welcome the wardens in Ameranthine.

Make up his mind about what?  As far as I know, that's the only age he's given.

@klarabella- Huzzah, it worked! 8D And you're welcome. Hope you have a nice playthrough!

@Jakia- Oh. Haha, that would be tricky if not impossible for a mod to handle, I think. xD Unless there is an override folder isolated to Awakening alone. Hmm... I'll fiddle around with it some after I get some sleep in. Will need to speed through Vigil's Keep to have a proper save file to test it with, but I'm too braindead to do that right now. D:

@bl00d- That Bryce being a candidate for the throne thing... I take it that's taken from that conversation you have with Dairren. If so, then that bit of information is gossip. It says a lot about how good a ruler Bryce is, though.

They know through the rumor mill, sure. But that's all, by rumor.

Eamon can't actually prove it, and Loghain and Anora definitely wouldn't say anything about it unless it was to their advantage, which at that point it wasn't.

Even Loghain will appeal to Theirin blood, in an indirect, politician's kind of way. If Anora betrays you in the LM, he gives a little speech about her being worthy to take up the Theirin throne. Anora will also make mention of uniting Mac Tir and Theirin blood, if the marriage to Alistair is set up.

Alone, it's not enough to cement Alistair's claim. But it's not unimportant, either.

And... the lower lip of dooooom!

But it's not what gets said in the game, by Loghain. If Gaider is saying she was dead by then, Why is Loghain talking as if she were alive at the time. The conversation clearly spoke as if she were alive.

And yes he's the Arl of Redcliffe, who is working with traitors and regicides according to Loghain. Unless you agree to let Anora keep her throne (through marriage or on her own), the Landsmeet sides with Loghain, so it wouldn't be that hard for him to crush that claim if you didn't make a deal with her.

No, you can side against Anora and still win the LM vote.  It's more difficult, but my HNM character just did it last night.  He wasn't about to play Anora's little games.

Yeah this one I'm playing just had her come in and betray her, and I still got all but Cedric supporting me. I even told Loghain "Ha! You lose" ...so mature for a Cousland...lol

The votes have nothing to do with Anora and everything to do with sidequests (Trial of Crows) and who you release in the dungeons, and how you take the  conversation options (persuade: the blight is the threat here, not orlais gets Bann Wullf's vote, mentioning tortured nobles gets the Dragon's Peak vote if you rescued te Bann's son from howe's dungeon, the poisoning of Eamon by an apostate is backed up by Bann elfstanna if you found her brother in howe's dungeons)

On my previous EMF, I ran it three times and won the vote 1 out of the 3.  So the odds are against you, but it's not impossible.  You have to get Arl Wulff's vote (by talking to him before the LM and then mentioning the Blight) and an extra vote by completing Trial of Crows.

Cousland + Theirin badassery comin to declare Loghain's reign at an end

Again, like I said, and I know it was discussed a ton earlier in the thread, I think it's part of the fiction surrounding Alistair in order to hide him, especially if he is Fiona's son.  There would have been a story and I think Loghain would have stuck to it.  not to mention I think to Loghain, protecting Rowan's memory and the woman herself are about the same thing.

Out of curiousity, if you let Vaughn out, does he show up to speak for you? My HNF is a very bad girl at that moment after talking to Soris and sees it as a convenient time to clean up Denerim a bit. :x

Ya if you do those sidequests, and say the right things in the Landsmeet then Anora's vote mean's nothing.  I never say I'm going to support her anymore since I realized I don't need her lol.  I also have never done the Trial of the Crows quests.  Don't need to lol.

I wouldn't say that Anora's vote means nothing. Like I said above, I still lost at times even though I had all those votes and said all the same things. I believe Anora gets 3 votes in the count. Someone with a toolset might be able to check the mechanics?

Top of page and Alistair approves of Natural Bodies mod +50.  It's all he really wanted for Satinalia, not that silly doll.
