Because it's creepy.

That, plus he is generally curious about demons and already made a deal with one.

This would most likely be the reasoning my liberal mage would go by. I'd imagine making deals with demons wouldn't be too big a deal for him/her.

Just talk to Alistair right before you make your ruler choice.  He makes no bones about what he thinks you should do.  If you're worried about pulling your support from Anora, it's not anything she wouldn't do to you in a heartbeat.

It's just that betrayal is something that hits close to home for my HNF. It was what led to the Cousland massacre, after all. Betraying Anora would be cruel cruel irony... She'd be a little more unforgiving when faced with traitors like Loghain so there was no question that he wasn't going to be allowed to live, but the thing is my HNF wouldn't put it all so bluntly (the line that triggers betrayal). I can't see another way to work around this without going a bit off-character so I'll just have to deal. ;3;

It's a comforting thought, I suppose, how she won't have much problem going back on her word given the opportunity. I'll be sure to keep that in mind when I finally go through with it; would definitely make it all more tolerable.

Just have her betray you first with Cauthrien.  No guilt then.  Posted Image

I think I'm one of the few with the opinion that Alistair is actually happier with a life as a Warden, where he can be free from all the duty that had defined his whole life already.

No matter if he's hardened or not.

nah I believe that too. This time I am going to put Anora on the throne (I just really love doing that with my Dalish) and running off into the sunset with Alistair.  Or maybe this time I will get the WC ending with the final romantic goodbye. Haven't made up my mind.  I find it just as hard resisting Morrigan as I do Alistair so she will probably get her bearded freak baby again this time too.  Much as I love to rag on her, I love her too!Posted Image

Naw, I've thought about that as well. She wouldn't risk blowing Anora's cover. Although it would be less off-character if I made a little tweak at this point in the game than with that conversation with Anora... Hmm... It's something to consider. Thanks for the suggestion! :D

Here maybe this will help, Anora comes right out and lies to you from the beginning.

She comes right out and tells you if you free her she will aid you in the Landsmeet.  She doesn't say if you support me I'll aid you, all she says is she will aid you.  There's no if you do this or that, only free her.

Yes, even if your position is to overthrow her, she just has to support you, because she failed to specify that it is only when you don't kick her from her thrown. Posted Image

EDIT: and sad face Alistair overdose here!

Sorry, yukidama, but I think I am all about Maricstair for this playthrough.  I'm not sure if I'll keep him permanently.  My husband is making skeptical noises.

I did have to take him out of Warden Commander Armor.  He needs a new look to go with the ... uh, new look.  So I put him in some silverite scale armor for now.  It looks good.  I'm having fits what to put on my mage.  It's really time for her to stop wearing a dress.

AAAARGHH, apparently Arcane Warrior cannot dual wield unless you put points into dexterity.  Magic counts only towards strength.  So my little elven mage can wield big-ass longswords and a shield half her size, but not a little dagger.

He's not free of the duty, it's just a different one.  I trust hardened Alistair when he tells me to make him king.  *shrugs*

Well she DID just get done telling you that any guards you encounter will either be loyal to her or to Howe . . .

and that both of them may end up getting her killed . . . then you go and rat her out to Cauthrien, her father's "righthand man"
